The Alien series has been released on many different mediums over the years.
Most recently, the award winning 'Quadrilogy' set encompasses 9 DVDs with all
the movies, special editions, and many extras. This section helps detail some
of the releases. Click on the images or titles to go to the respective DVD/Video info page.

ALIEN Quadrilogy - Released December 3, 2003
This set is the "must-have" for Alien series enthusiasts. It has been
advertised as "The Ultimate All-New
9-Disc Alien Box Set" and "Loaded with Hours of Never-Before-Seen Extras." This set lives
up to those statements. This is also the first time the Alien 3 Assembly Cut (Special Edition)
has been officially released.

ALIEN Saga - Released October 22, 2003
This television special was aired on AMC on November 13, 2002.

From an online review:
"This documentary focuses on one of the most horrifying series ever to be committed to celluloid --
the Alien film series. With interviews from most of the main players, including Ridley Scott, James
Cameron, Sigourney Weaver, and H.R. Giger, the special goes through conception through production of
all four films released from 20th Century Fox. Narrated by the Alien's first-ever onscreen victim,
John Hurt, The Alien Saga gives insight into various script changes, casting choices, and the series
fantastical effects through the eyes of the innovators behind them. The same production team, headed
by writer/director Brent Zacky." - [Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide]

ALIEN Legacy - Released June 1, 1999
This was the first collection of the Alien series on DVD. When released there was a coupon
for a "5th" making-of DVD, produced by Sharpline Arts.

This set has much of the material that has already been available on laserdisc, but packages it
in a stylish silver-foil embossed box-set. While not as 'complete' as the Alien Quadrilogy,
this was the best option for film quality from 1999-2003.

Alien Vs Predator - 2005
This page is primarily for the Alien series of films. However it is worth mentioning
the Alien vs. Predator DVD versions that exist. On January 25, 2005 the Extended edition
was released, and later in the year on November 22, the Unrated edition was released. Basically,
the extended version has a new intro sequence, and the unrated has some deleted scenes. The artwork
varies based on geographic location. AVP: Alien vs Predator is widely available on DVD
across the world.

All Other Media releases
There have been multiple releases of the Alien series on video, laserdisc, Beta tapes, and
even DIVX. There are too many to mention here. For a nice listing with many pictures
visit AliensCollection.com.
My personal favorites are the elaborate box-sets, such as the
UK Facehugger box set and the
Alien Quadrilogy Japanese 'head' set.
Some of the more popular non-DVD releases for the series include:
- Pan & Scan VHS (Pre-1992 release)
- Pan & Scan VHS (1992 Release)
- Widescreen Laserdisc (Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 - 1993)
- Pan & Scan Box Set VHS (1992)
- 'Fox Widescreen Edition' VHS (1997,1998)
- Special Edition laserdisc (Aliens) (1991)
- Limited numbers ~10,000, some suffer from 'laser rot.'
- Making of Alien 3 (1992 Box set promo)
