Old ALIEN related NEWZ

August 1999 - December 1999

December 25th
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I hope that wherever you are, christmas has been enjoyable! I know that mine has.

I'll also be on a mini-vacation for the next few days, but I do hope to update before the new year. Expect slight email delays while I am away. :) Enjoy the holidays! :)

December 20th
ACTUAL Alien 5 News!

All this came from Cinescape and Sci-fi Wire.

December 17th
Sigourney Weaver got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!
As reported in the local paper:
Sigourney Weaver got the star treatment Thursday on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was awarded a star on the celebrity stretch of pavement. The actress shot to stardom as Warrant Officer Ripley in Alien and reprised the role several times. She also starred in Ghostusters, The Year of Living Dangerously, Dave, Gorillas in the Mist and Working Girl. Weaver's latest is A Map of the World, and she hits the big screen again later this month in Galaxy Quest (december 25th.)

You can see reviews of her upcoming movie 'A Map of the World' now, it was recently on Siskel and Ebert, and Ebert (with guest) gave it nice reviews, and thumbs up to Weavers performance.

Added some nice new posters to the Merchandise section, just click on them to buy! :)

December 16th
Sigourney Weaver is going to be on Fox and Friends on the Fox News channel tomorrow, Dec. 17, discussing Galaxy Quest. It's on at 7am eastern and then I think it's repeated in the evening. (Thanks to Cathy for passing this info along!)

Another ALIEN Reference, from St Just from the book 'The Bridge.'

December 15th
Now is your chance to vote for some ALIEN alumni!
Click Here to start the voting. :) So go ahead, choose David Fincher as best future director, and Winona Ryder as best future actress. (Well, I think it is supposed to be director / actress of the last 100 years...but hey.) David Fincher currently ranks 6th in his category....behind Quentien Tarantino? (If he ever got hold of an ALIEN movie, I just might not be a fan anymore...well, yes I would.) :)

December 12th
A new link has been added to the Links section. Take a look at the well done Alien Encyclopedia for a boatload of reference information on the ALIEN movies. Thanks Xenomorph!

Also added a few references from a while back which I never mentioned on the news page I think. Thanks to Luka, you can find some ALIEN References from Ned & Stacey (tv show), Alf, 'Immediate Family' (movie from '89), and a neat one with REM (in the inspired by spot.)

Remember to check out the aliens hive for a few pictures of artwork related to the alien series. Nice stuff! (I want more! :)

And of course, the ALIENS: the Movie Sim Homepage awaits by Clicking here. Enter the USS Gauntlet (USCMC Starship : First Colonial Marine Brigade - 505th Spaceborne Infantry) for some simming action.

Do any of you folks speak Dutch? Care to translate? :)
Then go to this website and start deciphering! Apparently, it mentions that British actor Jon Finch was originally cast as the character Kane in the Alien movie, but was replaced by John Hurt after becoming ill. If anyone has more info.... [Big thanks to Olwen for passing this link along!]

Take a visit to Aliens Total Conversion for Duke Nukem 3D. If you want it, it is there! Thanks to Diehard for passing the link along.

Matthijs passes along some great trivia and links that relates Dark Star to ALIEN. Both these movies had Dan O'Bannon as the writer....go to the Trivia area to find out the scoop (and pics!].

December 9th
Posted at 10:20am Ok, I'll update tomorrow with new links and references and all that. It is my last day of classes so I'm a little swamped finishing off projects. :) But check out Cinescape for some news on what might be David Fincher's (Alien 3 director) next project. The Spiderman movie! Yeah, check out Cinescape for more information.

Posted at 11:20am In the UK, the BBC had its Film 99 poll, and after 25,000 votes were tallied, ALIEN was selected as Britain's 4th favorite film. (Another Ridley Scott Film, "Blade Runner" placed 2nd. The top 10 are:

1 Star Wars: Episode IV, A New Hope (1977) Lucasfilm
    2 Blade Runner (1982)
    3 Casablanca (1942) MGM
    4 Alien (1979) 20th Century Fox
5 Star Wars: Episode I, The Phantom Menace (1999) Lucasfilm
    6 The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
7 Star Wars: Episode V, The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Lucasfilm
    8 Schindler's List (1993) Universal Pictures
    9 Saving Private Ryan (1998) CIC/Dreamworks
    10 Pulp Fiction (1994)
I hope to update the links area with new websites tonight. (fingers crossed!)

December 7th
Posted at 1:00am It is my birthday today. I'm officially one year closer to death! :) So, I'll be busy doing stuff celebrating, and school is nearing exams, so there may be little delays on email responses and updates. I have several references to add, but for now, this is really quite cool:

St Just passed this excellent link along. Sylvain Despretz is an artist who did conceptual work, including storyboards and equipment design, for ALIEN Resurrection. This type of movie-art I find very interesting, so the pics at this site are great!
For some real kickass Alien:Resurrection storyboards, scroll down a bit, but they're not hard to find. Just point and click. Real nice ones depicting the Newborn's birth too, when the Newborn actually looked more plausible, and even scarier. (sorta.) Click Here to go to the site. :) A big thanks to St Just for passing along this information!
Sylvain also worked for Ridley Scott's upcoming epic film 'Gladiator.' Scott is an excellent artist himself, so he knows talent when he sees it. :)

December 4th
I've checked the Internet Movie Database and added some of their trivia to the Trivia section, and a few bits of what I remembered.

If yout want to see what Sigourney Weaver looks like, watch Roger Ebert's movie review show, as they review her new movie 'A Map of the World.' Ebert mentioned that Sigourney was a very good bet for an Oscar nomination for her performance.

December 2nd
I've added the excerpts from the ALIEN 3 audio book to the Cut scenes area. This is only the stuff from side 1, (of 4), I'll add side 2 (with the super facehugger) when I have time to transcribe. These are additions that Alan Dean Foster (the novel writer) created himself, that either add some character traits to people, or were based on the original dialouge and script from an early ALIEN 3 screenplay. Enjoy!

December 1st
Okay, I just posted a rough of the ALIEN Trivia section. I was in a rush, so I just added a few things that I knew, and stuff off the 20th anniversary Alien calender. More is soon to come. Remember, any addtions that you may have, feel free to email me! :)

1 new sections will be added today if things work out. This will deal with basic ALIEN series trivia, with things like "James Remar was originally cast as Hicks" to "Alien won an Academy Award for best visual effects in 1979. Things like that. Also, I've transcribed the 'additions' and cut scenes from the ALIEN 3 audio novelization, side one. This audio book is based on the book that was adapted from an original ALIEN 3 script. That will be added to the Alien 3 cut scenes section. When both are up, I'll post the link in the news page (again, hopefully later today! :)

November 29th
Alienscollection.com has had some really great updates in the last few weeks. New prop additions, picture links. (including the ALIEN stuff at the Aussie FOX studio thingy), and a great pic of a really nice looking alien statue. Cool.

While on the flight to Phoenix last week, I snagged the US magazine that was gracing an economy class seat. Inside this issue (November 1999) they had an interview with Winona Ryder. It states:

The last time Winona Ryder had a major film role, she was covered in slime, submerged in water and wrestling with an unruly extraterrestrail in Alien Resurrection. Since then, Ryder, 28, has been laying low, devoting almost two years to her private life....

You can also catch Winona Ryder in the upcoming movies 'Girl, Interrupted' and 'Lost Souls.' Also in the magazine was an advertisment for the TV movie on CBS "AfterShock", which starred Tom Skerritt (Dallas in ALIEN), and Charles S. Dutton (Dillon in ALIEN 3.) Winona Ryder was also featured (rather, a movie of hers was featured with her) in the show 'Ultimate Special Effects.'

Updated the ALIEN References section, the Surburban Commando movie reference has been modified...anyone care to clarify on that one? :) Thanks to Jberry.

November 26th
Just a quick note, for everyone that decides to email me, my native language is English. I can do a little bit of french, but that is about it. So please, when emailing me, if you want a reply fast, please use English! :) thanks.

November 25th
Posted at 5:45pm David Fincher has his next project worked out. It looks like it will again allow him to visit the darkness that he seems to enjoy filming, a la ALIEN 3. From AICN,

Following on from his truly stunning 'Fight Club' Fincher is seemingly working on an adaption of James Ellroy's 'The Black Dahlia' but is struggling to trim the weighty book down, "I can't get a script that's under 300 pages" says the man himself.
The book is typical Fincher fare, concerning Hollywood's most notorious murder case: A beautiful young woman's body is found tortured, drained of blood and cut in half. The newspapers call her 'the black Dahlia'. Two cops are caught up in the investigation and embark on a hellish journey that takes them to the core of the dead girls twisted life...
David Fincher also has reportedly 'passed' on the directorial duties of the 'Spiderman' feature film.

Posted at 10:00am I'm back, and ready to update. I'm also going to respond to the emails as well. Sorry for the delay, but you all can expect an update today or tomorrow. :) Until then, and I wish all the U.S.A. visitors a very happy and festive Thanksgiving Holiday! :)

November 17th
The.avatar points out, Sigourney Weavers next movie 'Galaxy Quest' has a trailer out for the world to see. it's available now on the Internet. Just Click Here to see it in all its glory. It looks like a good Star Trek spoof! The movie is set for release on Christmas day. (It also stars Tim Allen.)

Winona Ryder (Call in ALIEN 4) can be seen in two movie posters now. Look for her face in 'Girl, Interrupted' posters, as well as the very Alien-resurrection-esque 'Lost Souls' poster.

I won't be in town over the weekend, so there will be a delay on email responses. I'll try for another update tomorrow before I take off. :-)

November 12th
For those of you craving James Cameron and Michael Biehn interview footage...tune in to The Learning Channel. Yesterday they had a 'Hollywood Hero' - Arnold Shwarzenegger special. Cameron commented on Shwarzenegger, along with some nice Biehn stuff as well. :-) It will likely be repeated. :)

November 11th
Posted at 3:00pm FoxFire has more news for all David Fincher fans! :) ..." The DigitalBits is reporting that New Line Cinema will be releasing a Platinum Edition of Seven! Hopefully, this will have all the great extras that then Edition had on LD, as well as the cut footage and the audio commentary by Morgan Freeman and David Fincher. The disc should street March 2, 2000.

And for twit mail of the month, the award goes to the person who mailed me this:

WILL SHE APPEAR NUDE IN THE MOVIE,PLEASE SAY YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeesh!

An ALIEN reference from St Just, from the 'Freaks and Geeks' tv show. Fabian passed on a reference from the band Ministry, and The.avatar found one from the Matrix DVD. :)

FoxFire also pased along a great link to an Interview that Sigourney Weaver. gave, back in 1997, from Priemeire magazine. (I posted an image of the cover, but not the actual interview!) This is aninterview that Sigourney gave back in 1997, to promote Alien Resurrection. This is what her husband had to say to her about Alien 3:
My husband had said, "You're so stupid, you died. This is the biggest franchise in the world and you died."
Hmm...Maybe not the biggest franchise (that goes to Star Wars), but a fun quote anyway! It's an interesting interview that some people might want to check out. Click Here to give it a visit! Thanks FoxFire!

Want more David Fincher? Okay! Just go to VFXPro and click on the link in the page to read an interview with Kevin Todd Haug, VFX Supervisor on 'Fight Club.' Has a few points on how Fincher works....also, Blue Sky studios Did the CG work for the 'cave scenes' and also did the 'power animal' of Edward Norton's character. It was quite funny in the movie. And for those of you who have not seen this film...see it! Fincher at his finest.

I'll post more references later today! :)

November 10th
An interesting comparison to the ALIEN was made to a 'famous' literary baddie. It is from The One Ring website, which is all ya wanted to know about the upcoming Lord of the Rings movie. (Brad Dourif will be Wormtongue in this movie, he played Dr. Gediman in Alien Resurrection). These are some of my favorite books...and Theonering.net had a script review where it mentioned:

"But let's backtrack a bit, if any of you are worried about the portrayal of the nazgul in these films, rest assured these guys are going to be the scariest things since the Alien from Aliens. Remember that scene where the captain is in the vent shaft and he has that flashlight, and he's climbing down, and he turns one way, and when he turns back BAM!! There's the alien? Think of the scare factor there, and you'll have your Nazgul. The silent deadly enemy."
I've got like 5 different Alien references to add. I'll try and do that later tonight, along with other tidbits of news...so stay tuned!

November 8th
David Twohy, an ALIEN 3 writer (at one point), is directing "Pitch Black." So what do you care? Well, it seems that this movie has a bit of an ALIENS flair. An excerpt from a review is below, just go to Corona Films to check it out! :)

"I have been looking forward to it since I saw the trailer at the San Diego Comic Con. I was very doubtful though after being disappointed with Event Horizon, Soldier, Star Trek 9, Virus, and Lost in Space. I was a bit skeptical. I will admit this is very Aliens but at least its done well there was genuine suspense and good acting (Vin Diesel could have a future as an action star if he plays his cards right or he could end up a Jeff Speakman or Dolph Lundren if he isn't careful.) There is also an homage (or rip off, depends on your point of view) to James Cameron's Aliens. If you have seen Aliens a few hundred times you'll see what I mean. The SFX were well done in my opinion. The opening crash landing was phenomenal - the crowd I was with were clapping and cheering.

November 4th
FoxFire passes along This Link from The DigitalBits. It has a few DVD fella's talking about ALIEN, and how it relates to the making of DVDs. That didn't make sense, but read the interview and it might. :) Also, there are a few comments on David Fincher...

Todd Doogan: " But you were saying that some filmmakers are using [Computer Graphics] for everything. Is Fincher being more traditional with it?"
David Prior: "I think Fincher is much to interesting a filmmaker to fall into that trap. He's using it for things that you really couldn't do any other way."
I'm a sucker for Fincher. :-) David Prior is working on the Fight Club DVD, which will likley be loaded with extra's, including Fincher goodies. :) Let's hope he does a commentary on his film! And from FoxFire and Dvdjournal:
Good news for DVD fans! The Fox DVD Development team has been fired! I guess the people at TwenCen got tired of the crappy DVD release Fox Home Video was putting out(except for the Alien Legacy), and fired the entire team! A new team has been hired and they are very supportive of the DVD format.

November 3rd
Posted at 9:10am Hello! Take a visit to Aliens Hive for some fan art, and a new Alien site. :) For all of you out there that have any ALIEN art, feel free to send it along! I'd love to post it up for the world to see. :)

A great reference occured in the weekend FOX TROT magazine. In fact, see it for yourself! Get those weekend comics and cut it out. Hicks nicely summarized it though:
The scene shows Jason and Marcus trick-or-treating as aliens (they're wearing plastic alien head above their own) when they're told to take one piece, the heads then shoot double-jaws at the candy then they're seen walking away Jason says "Aliens never take just one" and the inner mouth has a large in the double-jaw whereas Marcus only has a chunk of sweater in his, "I only got a chunk of his sweater."

I'll add that Spitting Image reference today I hope! I've recently been rather overwhelmed with schoolwork. So I apologize in advance for any delays! :)

November 1st
Posted at noon: Okay! I hope you all had a great Haloween. I saw many great costumes. :) In fact, last year there was a contest for best costume at a local bar and a dude dressed up as the ALIEN won. :)

alienscollection.com has a good whack of updates going its way. In a quick summary, go there to find some amazing Pulse Rifle replica pictures, new USCM action figures, alien bookclub novelization, Alien Art, toy sales, more prop links and pictures, and more. All that info is just a quick Click away! (ALIENS CONVENTION '99 pictures are there too!) Click here for info on that amazing convention. Lucky UK'ers! :) Pics of the event are on-line there as I type! :)

Surf over to Dark Horizons for some interesting tidbits on some original props from ALIEN, ALIENS, and even that PREDATOR flick. Thanks to The.Avatar for reminding me to check out this great page. Here are the highlights... (more info at Dark Horizons)
"---Today (Sunday) I went to a pre-opening of the Fox Studios Backlot, which is Sydney's equivalent of Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast in Queensland (better) and Universal Studios in America (not as good). It opens to the public on November 8th, 1999.
--- The Hall Of Cool Stuff contained some interesting stuff. Models from the original moulds of the Predator, Alien, the Alien Queen (yesss!) and the mechanical device that Ripley uses to battle the Alien Queen (yesssssssss!) as well as numerous other movie props (I'm a sucker for props!) --- All in all, it was an ok day. It's great for kids I guess. I think I'm getting too old! Plus the food was frickin expensive! $9.50 for a hamburger, chips and drink combo. And they wouldn't let us buy a sandwich by itself - it had to come with drink and chips! "

I'll post a great reference from 'Spitting Image' later today. :) I hope November is a great month for everyone!

October 29th
ALIEN graphic
I've linked to a new ALIEN cool site. Brian Wyvill was starting a computer graphics career way back in 1976, when he was able to assist in making some graphics for ALIEN. I was able to get in contact with him, and He kindly made a quick essay on his experience working on the film for the ALIEN Movies Resource Page, with a great picture of his work! Just Click Here to visit Brian Wyvill's ALIEN website!

October 27th
posted at 10:00am As I'm sure any ALIEN series fan will notice, Winona Ryder's new movie 'Lost Souls' and ALIEN Resurrection have one thing in common...the poster design! Take a look at the Lost Souls poster by going to Dark Horizons.

October 26th
posted late this night... Hello all! wow, a lack of updates for a full week! But I have good reason, I just had a killer exam that made up 40% of my final mark in a class...so yeah, I studied instead of updating. And the university email system was down for a day or so at least, so I'll get to replies ASAP!

I recently made a contact with a person who worked on ALIEN, I'm looking forward to the info this person has to pass along, more on that when it materializes!

Check your local papers, an article yesterday in the 'calgary herald' did a tv show rating thing. Incredibly, 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' was 32nd (*cough*, *cough*) overall, and I quote: "brilliant writer/producer Joss Whedon." I guess they haven't seen his movie credits. :) Okay, I'm being harsh. Whedon can also be found popping up in many a magazine with Buffy lately. His latest name in print should be on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Tv Music CD that is coming out. Also look for David Fincher tidbits in Rolling Stone, among other magazines. And if you haven't seen Fight Club, SEE IT!
Ok. Read some quotes by David Fincher on this movie by Clicking Here. Spoiler free, and a great overall perspective on the film.

I'll do a looksie for more news tomorrow!

October 19th
posted at 9:45am It may take a longer while for the ALIEN legacy DVD set to reach the UK (and everyone else in the Region 2 code area.) Why? Because UK DVD retailers are starting a boycott of FOX DVDs!
Read the full press release Here, now for an excerpt:

Online Retailers Join Websites in Fox Embargo
An influential group of UK based online retailers and journalists have joined forces in an attempt to expose the greed of a major film studio over the pricing of it's DVD Video titles.
The group of e-commerce sites and web-based magazines are calling for a media and sales boycott of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment products, starting with the newly released Titanic.
I must say I can't blame them. Any DVD here can be grabbed for HALF the price of UK released DVDs, at any major retail store! Heck, The Matrix is just 20 bucks canadian. It would be 20 pounds in the UK! Titanic is selling for upwards of 60 bucks cdn (~45 US)! So, if you want to show your support of the boycott, use this animated gif file on your webpage. Thanks to foxfire for passing this news along!

October 18th
posted at 11:11am Ron Perlman (Johner in Alien Resurrection) will appear today in "Family Law", a TV show on CBS. Stay tuned!

I went and saw David "Director of ALIEN 3" Fincher's new movie Fight Club. It is a great film. :) Flawless special effects, inventive film making, and a style that makes Fincher the best of the best. Also, it was fairly violent, but in a wincing sort of way; you felt pain for the characters! An excellent film, I'd recommend it to any one who enjoyed The Game or Seven. :)

Also in 'Fight Club', an Alien reference occured; during a certian scene (not giving anything away, don't worry) there are videocassetes of 'ALIEN' featured in the background. Thanks to St Just for passing that along as well. :)

Also from St Just: The other day when it was Sigourney Weaver's birthday, there was a little characiture(sp?) [You know, those drawings of people that are cartoonish] of her in the USA Today and it had her ringing a cartoonish looking Alien around the neck.

October 16th
posted at 3:42pm Mark Rolston, who played Drake in ALIENS, appeared on TV friday. He had a role in the 1st episode of Chris Carter's new series, "Harsh Realm." (It was the 1st episode after the pilot episode...;) Rolston played a bounty hunter, who was out to get the main characters of the show. Actually, he was main character of that show! It was nice to see him playing a tough-Drake-esque fella. By the way the episode ended, it is likely he will appear in future episodes of Harsh Realm.
Rolston also appeared in an episode of The X-files, also made by Chris Carter. In that show he played a leader of a religeous cult.

October 14th
posted at 5:27pm FoxFire passed along a tad of info on Winona Ryder. It is from Mr. Showbiz, just surf there to get the full copy.
"Winona Talks Interrupted Nude Scenes"
Winona Ryder's baring more than her soul in the upcoming psychiatric drama Girl, Interrupted.
The waifish actress tells October's Vogue about her nude scenes for the flick, including one in bed with a guy and one in a bathtub, but refuses to discuss her relationship with Gwyneth Paltrow, rumored to have soured, or sweetie Matt Damon.
In working with her handpicked director, James Mangold, Ryder says, "This is the first time, aside from working with Martin Scorsese, that I really let everything go. I was incredibly raw. There's stuff that I did in this movie that I've never done before."
Ryder started acting at age 12 and by 17 she was having what she calls "horrible" anxiety attacks. A well-publicized breakdown occurred: "I was working constantly. I didn't take any time off. When I did, I was really stressed out. I went through my first breakup with a long-term boyfriend [Johnny Depp]. It was really difficult and weird, and it was amplified because it was in the press. I really thought I was losing my mind. I became a terrible insomniac. I lived on airplanes and in hotels. I didn't really have a home," she says.
After feeling "too sensitive to be living in the world" she checked herself in to a psychiatric hospital for a week.
Girl, Interrupted, which opens Dec. 21, co-stars Angelina Jolie, Whoopi Goldberg, and Vanessa Redgrave.
Also in the article, Ryder refuses to answer questions about her supposed falling-out with Gwyneth Paltrow, which the New York Daily News says may stem from Paltrow landing her Oscar-winning Shakespeare in Love only after seeing the script in Ryder's apartment. "Don't ask," Winona says when asked about her sometime best friend.

Added some Alien References, from Turok: Rage Wars (Thanks to Jon), SNL (thanks to Ripley), Red Dwarf (thanks to ZenAnomaly) and finally the Roswell premeire episode contained a few tidbits. (Thanks to Ripley and Graham. Anyone care to confirm? :) Remember readers, you can all feel free to bitch at me about references you don't like, additions you want on the site, or whatever else happens to be on your mind about the website. :)

October 12th
John C. posted this in the Alt.cult-movies.alien newsgroup;
" This week's Sci-fi Cartoon Competition features a parody of Alien with caricatures of Ripley and the crew of the Nostromo (and one chest bursting alien). You get to write Ripley's (or Kane's) punchline in the comic strip. You can also read the funniest punchlines submitted by other readers. The competition ends Oct 16 so get your entries in now by clicking here! "

October 10th
ITS HERE!
The ALIEN convention of the decade. :-) Guests, props, auctions and more! Just go to the Aliens Fan Club to find out more information. Of course, it is in England, so my personally autographed Ralph Brown picture will just have to wait. :-D
If any of y'all take any pictures, I'd be glad to post it to this website! And to all of those who participate....enjoy yourselves, you're lucky!

October 8th
Posted at 4:16pm A new website has been added in the Links section. Say hello to the Aliens vs Predator Resource which has a large focus on the recent computer game. :)

Jon found this great reference! he explains:
This one is for the upcoming game Turok: Rage Wars for the N64. The reference is for one of the guns in the game. Read the following from http://ign64.com.
"The Chestburster: Ah yes, another Aliens inspired gun. You check your gun and see that there's a little critter in blue liquid loaded in the chamber. You aim, fire, connect and forget about it. Meanwhile your victim knows he has been hit, but hasn't lost any health and so continues on his merry way. That is, until a few seconds later when an extraterrestrial embryo fights his way out of the confines of his body towards sweet life-giving light. We're not sure if this will kill a perfectly healthy enemy, but it should at least severely cripple them. The animations for this gun and it's result effect are still incomplete, but the concept combined with what we saw firsthand has us drooling. Wait, there's a second function?"

I found a few interesting links to some actors and actresses of the ALIEN series, not to mention many other underappreciated fellows.
Michael Wincott (Elgyn in ALIEN Resurrection), and Jenette Goldstein (Vasquez in ALIENS) are both feature at One Scene Wonders!

Yes, I'll post more later!

October 7th
Brad Dourif, who played Dr. Gediman in Alien Resurrection, has landed the role of Wormtoungue in the upcoming Lord of the Rings movie. For those of you who have read the series (It is one of my favorites) I can see him in the role! He will play a very slimey character, and should be in the 3rd movie of the series. :) Thanks to the Onering.net for getting this info!

More news later!

October 6th
Holy lack of news, batman! :)
But hey, I did find this. There is a book out called something like "50 of the greatest movies that were never made" in your local book stores. Well, number 3 is ALIENS vs PREDATOR. The breifly explain the script, have some excerpts, and even have some words with the scripts' writer, Peter Briggs (although likely from previous interviews.) One perspective that I was not aware about is that it said that Mr. Briggs made the script on his own time, and *then* through his agent went to FOX. Mr. Briggs was paid for it, and a few rewrites. Interesting!

October 4th
I'll respond to e-mail, and maybe put up a small news update later tonight!

October 1st
Posted at 12:01pm A quote from Joss Whedon (Alien Resurrection writer):
"I'm very unhappy with my movie career. There's stuff I'm proud of, but some really big disappointments, Alien Resurrection being first and foremost among them."
For the full report, go over to Cinescape and check out the insider news. :)

September 29th
Posted at 12:01pm FoxFire passed this news along from Cinescape online; they are reporting that Ridley Scott will direct the film adaptation of Thomas Harris' sequel to "The Silence of the Lambs", "Hannibal". It's been rumored for a while that Scott would direct the film, ever since Jonathan Demme dropped out of returning to direct, after publicly saying the book was too disturbing for him to adapt to film. "If Scott can portray Aliens bursting out of people's chests, he should have no trouble directing Anthony Hopkins carving people up for dinner."
I agree with that last sentence. :) Cinescape also had some news on James Camerons latest project a few days ago, just look at the 'Insider' archives.

Whew! Alienscollection.com is back up! So y'all go and visit it.

September 28th
This is the slowest period ever for ALIEN news in this websites history. :) (only 2 years old and it has a history!!) :)

The latest issue of MAXIM magazine (issue#22) reviews the ALIENS vs PREDATOR game. Here is the review:
We'll never know if Jackie Chan wcould waste Bruce Lee or if Rambo could settle Dirty Harry's hash. But another great cinematic death match will be a mystery no longer. Play as the vicious Alien, the stealthy Predator or a space Marine stupid enough to take'em both on. When they hunt each other down an any of the 40 hyper-realistic environments (spaceships to extraterrestrail temples), it's a bang-and-fang frenzy. With lightning gameplay, these combatants shred one another six ways to Sunday. (We liked the biting off the soldier's head, and the squish when it hit the floor.) In space no one can hear you scream--except maybe your neighbor. (4 out of 5.)
The 'Grinder Games' article also includes a picture of a marine shooting at some predators and an ALIEN, with the caption "Bad time for a space jam."

Alienscollection.com has hit a 'snag.' If anyone has a complete backup of the site....

Posted late in the evening... Yes, I've slacked on the additions to the website. I've been hunting for a few older ALIEN related magazines at some stores, so if I can find them there will be a swack of new interviews. :) Not a heckuva lot going on in the ALIEN world, but check your local papers for a recent picture of Sigourney Weaver. She appeared a few times in my local paper for promotion for her upcoming movie 'A Map of the World'. She ain't blonde anymore! :) but for now...:

Luka sent along some new ALIEN References, From ALF, Ned & Stacey, and Chicago Hope, and from the movie 'Immediate Family.'

Very cool prop over at alienscollection.com, which has to be the most realistic MK41a Pulse Rifle replica I've seen. :) Just give it a look by Clicking Here.

And as the.avatar points out; have you seen This picture yet? ;-)

Posted at 3:33pm A huge film festival is taking place in Toronto (Ontario, Canada) now. (Click Here for more info on the festival). Well, J&S H. passes along some info that Sigourney Weaver was interviewed by the Toronto Star this week(she was at the festival), and she said that she does not want Alien 5 to take place on earth-she wants to go to the Alien homeworld. Interesting!

DVD File has a minor tidbit of trivia on the ALIENS laserdisc / video transfer. Just click here to read it! They also recently posted info on the Sharpline Arts 5th dvd disc...

AVSP Online is back...online. :) Here is a quote from the webmaster, which I think explains it all:
"Starting next week, we will also be offering a new method of playing AvP multi-player, known as a Campaign. This may sound familiar to some of you and hopefully evokes fond memories in those who are familiar with Aliens Online." You can read all about it at the site! Mmmmmm.....multiplayer. :-) Check it out.

My email program is a nutty right now, if anyone is expecting a reply or emailed me in the past few days...well...I'll get to you shortly. :-) Thanks.

Posted at 11:59pm The university server is temporarily shutting down in 1 minute for several hours. Sorry for any webpage access problems! It'll be all ok in the morning. :)

Posted at 9:28pm Added a may 1986 'preview' article on ALIENS from Starlog #106. It can be found in the Aliens-Story section. (I'm going to combine the 'about' and the 'story' sections into a 'background' section. Just so ya know.) The formatting may not look nice, but consider this used to be in 2.5 inch wide columns, that was the best it was gonna get. The article is all there, anyway. :)

Got off my duff and added 4 new pics to the Picture pages. One on ALIEN 3 (Heineken and the Alien!), and 3 at the bottom of the ALIENS section. Big big thanks to Nick and Kevin. Two of the pictures are part of an article on stuntman Tip Tipping, who played Private T. Crowe, and who sadly died in a stunt accident in 1993. The other picture in the ALIENS section is a great advert for the Face-hugger box set, including a great pic of the contents! And only 80 pounds at the time. (The price, not the weight! :)

Posted at 1:36pm The excellent Alien Timeline has been updated, and includes some changes on the notes on various dates, and a bunch of pictures of characters have been added. The main update is technical stuff on starships and LV-426 (and not stuff copied wholesale out of the Colonial Marines Technical Manual). so visit it! It is the most comprehensive ALIEN series timeline on the internet. :-)

September 15th
Posted at 11:00pm Halfway done typing an article from Starlog #106, which was a visit to the set of ALIENS back in 1985. It is a biggee, and full of info. I hope to have it done by 2morrow evening! Stay tuned!

Posted at 10:00am Wow, there is not alot going on the ALIEN universe right now! And since I do have more spare time, I'm going to add some articles on the series that I've kept from magazines and whatnot. And some new pictures. I'll have a go at adding those 2morrow afternoon. :)

Predator: Xenogenesis #2 is out. Surf on to Avsp.net for more info on ALIENS vs Predator info. :)

Saw Stigmata. It was okay, a little slow. Gabriel Bryne does a good job. Didn't find it offensive, but some people may. (Wow, a 3 sentence review!)

September 11th
Posted at 10:00am The 5th DVD disc is making a return! And Sharpline Arts has had over 16,000 (!!!) downloads of its 5th disc cover, which was made for the FANS after such a positive response for the disc. Read all about it at the DVD file. Thanks to The.avatar for passing that along! :)

September 9th
Posted at 10:41pm New ALIEN References! From "Whose Line is it anyway", MST3K, Roseanne (last 2 thanks to Paul), The Mask, Blossom, Don Martin (last 3 thanks to Bjork), and Captain Planet, Thanks to koopzilla2000. :) If anyone can CONFIRM these, then drop me a line. Thanks.

Website may be down thursday evening, but will be back up Friday morning. :)

September 8th
Posted at 11:59pm Ack. I'm back in school. It is 27 minutes past midnight. I'll update tomorrow. New references, and hopefully a neat picture of an advertisement for the Facehugger Box Set, including a great shot of its contents. :) Stay tuned.

Posted at 11:59pm A quick update, more tomorrow:
Thanks to The.Avatar, and Alienscollection.com, and of course Sharpline Arts (whose attention to customers and response to feedback is very impressive) for this bit of news.

From Catherine P., the project Administrator at Sharpline:

Thank you again for your assistance in our Alien Legacy market research. There has been over 600 responses and the emails keep coming! (for feedback on the LEGACY DVD making-of ALIEN 5th disc.)
Over 60% of the respondents stated concerns about the lack of chapter stops and keepcase packaging for the '5th disc'. In response to these concerns, we have prepared an official Sharpline Arts collectorıs keepcase cover and insert for the disc that match the others in the boxed set. The cover and insert will be available for download from our website ... in the Adobe Acrobat PDS format.
The insert includes a chapter stop breakdown for use with the elapsed time display mechanism on DVD players. This allows the user to easily scan to the appropriate chapter. A viewerıs guide with reference photos of the documentaryıs participants is also included in the insert. In addition, we are working with keepcase suppliers to possibly provide free keepcases (excluding shipping and handling) for the disc.
We, here at Sharpline Arts, know the importance of not only listening, but also responding to the requests of our consumers. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

The HTML Code may be messed up! (All the words may be a link to some place...) I can't correct this for a few hours...I'll fix it tonight! Sorry for any delay!

Posted at 12:00pm I'm back from Phoenix! I had a great vacation. :) I can now say a few things about the USA....1) Things are cheaper in Canada (cds, videos, clothes, etc) and 2) the malls in Phoenix are HUGE. I walked into the biggest mall I've ever been in, other then West Edmonton Mall. And in 40 degree (celsius) heat...it was nice. :-)

I'll start answering emails today. I have some news to pass along, but that will be posted in a large update....again, hopefully today. My inbox was 13 megs to large, thanks to a few HUGE mails...but I think I got every mail that was sent. Just be patient for a reply. Thanks.

To make this update ALIEN related, at a Chevron gas station in Phoenix, they had toys for sale. These were called "Star Force", and included a lawsuit inspiring ripoff of the Millennium Falcon. there was also an exact ripoff of the Narcissus from ALIEN. (The lifeboat.) I mean, it was exactly the same other than the paint job. :) So all you Americans can check out the local Chevron station for the toys. :)

More news later!

August 29th
Posted at 7:00pm Is HMV discounting ALIEN Resurrection soundtracks? A local HMV had the Alien 4 soundtrack, by John Frizzel, in the sale ranks for only $6.99. That is about $5 bucks US. If anyone wants it, e-mail me in a week. :) But check your local HMVs...

Posted at 9:30am vote for this page at Worldcharts!. If y'all don't, I'll be off the list! :-)

Click Here for Entertainment Weekly's 'Greatest Movies' poll. The question for best 'movie hero / heroine' includes a chance to vote for Sigourney Weaver as Ripley. (Currently she has less thatn 2.5% of the votes...)
The question for best 'action / sci-fi movie' you can vote for ALIENS! (Currently in 7th spot with 5.41% of the vote.)
So get over there and vote. :)

Hudson (hey! Maybe the "real" Hudson!!) passed along an actual bit of news related to ALIEN 5. The new issue of the `Total Film' magazine clearly states that there is a script for Alien V, Sigourney is aboard and is working as Executive Producer, and is currently looking for a sutable director. Release Date March 2000. Well, a release date of March 2000 would indicate that filming would be going on right now. So this Total Film mag doesn't know what it is talking about. Remember, the earliest this film could come out is in late 2001...and that is the absolute earliest!

The Unofficial Alien 5 site got a new home. Not a lot there, but it is a site to bookmark for the future.

I am going on an actual vacation (first in years!) for a whole dang week starting on Monday. Down to Phoenix, Arizona. Heat wave! I'll post everything I can today...and if I can't find news, I'll give links to a bunch of sites that will. There is a chance I will not even be on a computer during that entire week. Which means I can't read my email. So go easy on it! But I'll reply to everyone that drops me a line. :-) Thanks!

August 26th
Posted at 4:35pm Well, I finish my job tomorrow. I started it in January, so it will be nice to be off full-time work & school, and just go to full time school.:) I'll have more time to add content to the page, but I won't be as responsive in e-mails. C'est la vie! But I'll answer them all, honest.

New Alien Reference, from Dexter's Lab. Thanks to hicks. As a note, I will now be looking for a confirmation in new references...but that shouldn't stop any of you.

And a trivia question, from hicks...the answer will be posted 2morrow!. Hey, thats a good idea, posting a new ALIEN series trivia every few updates. Wow, a plan. Alright! Here is the first trivia:
What ALIEN series actors have also been in Stephen King based Films?

Yeah! I'm back on WorldCharts! I gotta stay on it though. So please Vote for this page! Thank you! Don't forget to visit the Alien Collectors Homeworld and to vote for this page as well! Thanks.

Yes folks, that IS a poll on the top of the page. Enter your opinion. Now. Thanks. :-)

August 24th
Posted at 10:00am. Have you voted in the poll above? WHY NOT! Give your opinion! Be heard!
Remember to e-mail a Catherine at SharpLineArts with your comments and opintions on the ALIEN LEGACY 5th DVD disc. Opinions are needed, people! Oh, and new releases of the BOX set WILL NOT have the 5th dvd at all.... [More news on this topic below a bit...]

The webpage is f*cked up again. The content is fine, but the bleedin' university server is all messed up. So this is it. I'm pissed. I want to move somewhere. But damn, I need Suggestions!. Mail 'em in, baby. In a year, I basically HAVE to move, as I must graduate...but hey, if you know of a place to depart to, just Mail Me!.

Michael K. has some news for ONTARIO readers. One of the local theatres there [specific theatre info coming soon] is showing the complete Alien trilogy (no Alien Resurrection). Michael has seen ALIEN, and is off to see Aliens and Alien 3! I know that ALIEN plays locally every once in a while, but start checking your movie listings to see what other movies pop up. These movies must be experienced in the theatre!

A few days ago, the CBC aired 'The Birds', the Alfred Hitchcock flick. I just realized that Veronica Cartwright, (LAMBERT in ALIEN) was Cathy, the kid in the flick...so if you want to see her as a 13 year old....

Ah, heck, why not do some related peoplenews. There are pictures of Ridley Scott's new movie "GLADIATOR" at Dark Horizons. Looks amazing! And James Cameron is set to hand over the directing reigns of True Lies 2.

Thanks to The.avatar and DVD File. The Alien Legacy box set will still be pressing, but the bonus DVD offer will no longer be included. See the full article by Clicking Here.
Included in it: "...If there were more behind-the-scenes footage and/or photographs, would you purchase a documentary on DVD that included this additional material or are your satisfied with the material that is currently available? If a project similar to 'The Alien Legacy' documentary was available for purchase separately with additional material, how much would you pay for it?"
Ans as the.avatar points out, basically what she is saying is that they are considering on making another "bonus" Alien DVD. Seeing how popular the box set is selling, I wouldn't doubt it if it came out. (Box set is in its 3rd printing. :-) So email your comments to Sharpline!

I'll surf around the net for some more news later...I'm extra busy (as I have been for the past month), but once this tides over i'll be an updating/ new content madman. Honest. :-) I've got a plan for it to occur in mid-late September.

August 21st
Posted at 9:00am LET YOUR OPINION BE HEARD!
The '5th DVD disc' is finally arriving in mailboxes all over the US and Canada. This is the 'making of' ALIEN special that was made by the fine folks at SharpLine Arts. The makers of the special now want *YOUR* feedback for the video! But wait, only the film's "most ardent fans" (yes, that means YOU) can participate, and pass along "comments about the documentary and whether it was worth the purchase of the boxed set." So there you have it. An actual official outlet for the ALIEN series is in need of some ALIEN fans feedback & comments! This isn't something you pass up...
All you need to do is pass along an e-mail to the project administrator, and pass along your comments!

I also added a quick poll regarding the box-set. The last poll had 150+ votes, lets see if this one can break that.

I think some idiots are in charge of the university web server. It won't let me access my webpage today, but only to view it. Arg! So it might act a bit slow today. Sorry! (UPDATE) : As of Saturday night, this page has received its lowest visitor count in about 2 years! This is due to the EXTREMELY messed up University server....No homepages on teh server can be viewed at all!!! I'm getting quite annoyed, this problem has been going on for at least a week. I'm very sorry for any problems you may have encounter while viewing this site.

August 20th
Posted at 5:00pm New Alien Reference, from the writer Terry Pratchet. This was posted in the ALIEN newsgroup ages ago, I only just found it now. :)

Brion James has passed away. He wasn't in an ALIEN film, but he was in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, as the replicant Leon Kowalski (clearly the role he is known for). He more recently appeared in The 5th Element as General Munro. Now everyone watch Blade Runner to see Brion James! (The guy had over 100 movie / tv credits to his name!

Sigourney Weaver is blond! Yes, for her upcoming role Ripley takes to the dye bottle. Thanks to FoxFire and Dark Horizons for the pics! (Tim Allen is the 2nd guy from the right. :)

August 19th
Posted at 6:00pm Whew! I just had a final exam, which is why I didn't update today. I'll actually try and tack on a bit of news tonight, or 2morrow for sure. :) Now y'all get outdoors. :-)

August 18th
Posted at 9:30am It was rumoured that Vincenzo Natali had been approached to the directing duties for ALIEN 5. Well, he is busy for the next several years at least with his next job. On a Canadian news show (he is Canadian) they interviewed him and showed clips from his debut movie, CUBE. This movie cost only 350,000 + another 350,000 in production, and has grossed over 14 million worldwide. They said his next movie will be also shot in Canada, has a budget 30 times CUBE...so that would be 10.5 million bucks. So he is tied up for about 2 years with this film, so if he is the ALIEN 5 director there is now at least a 2 year wait.

James Cameron's next project is in the news reels...it seems to be quite a big undertaking, for TV. Go to ShowBizData.com, you may have to search the archives, but look for the recent news on the "Mars" film & TV project. It looks like he will direct or co-make an IMAX film, and then the TV series...

David Twohy's upcoming film "Pitch Black" has gotten a comparison to ALIENS on Cinescape. Just go to the Insider News. Twohy also drafted an ALIEN 3 script. And on the subject of ALIEN alumni, Click Here to learn of Ridley Scott's epic undertaking. A little news, but it sounds like an epic movie!

Thanks to Mike for the next news clip. When he was on the Home Theather Forum, in the Software Section where they talk about DVDS and other things, One guy posted there that hey made his own armary case cover for the 5TH Disc. He gave everyone the adress so they can print it out incase they want a aramary case cover. you would have to buy the case but he made a cool cover so check it out. heres the adress he gave for the case to download and print. Click here for the Case! For a thumbnail pic, just Click here. A good job, I must say. :)

More news a little later...

August 17th
Posted at 11:30pm I've tried several times to do an update today, but the university server seems to be down AGAIN. So now that I can edit the news page, I don't have the update ready. It WILL be up 2morrow morning. Honest. 100% sure. I apologize for the delay! (If anyone has suggestions for some cheap, reliable webspace and 30 meg minimum capabilities...I'm all ears... :-)

August 14th
Posted at 4:40pm Well, it finally happened. After 71 weeks, the ALIEN Movies Resource Page dropped out of the WorldCharts top 100 homepage ranking. I expect that was due to the webpage being down so no-one could vote! :-D
But hey, To get back on the list, (which I was tied with *one* other site for the longest running appearence on the top100), y'all have to Vote by clicking here. And don't stop there! The Alien Collectors Homeworld is on the list too, click here to vote for this great page. Thanks!

Beyond that bragging about the site, in the Siskel and Ebert "The Phantom Menace" half hour special show, which re-aired this weekend, had a few clips from the Alien series. When talking about, (what I assume to be) opening scenes / ships, among the famous Star Wars shot, and 2001 shot among others, they feature the ALIEN initial shot of the Nostromo. And when talking about 'bleak future atmospheres' created by movies, they had both Blade Runner and ALIEN 3. I guess they thought ALIEN 3 took place on earth. :-D

The Dave Letterman Top 10 list feature a nice ALIEN reference, I'll post that one tomorrow. :-) Until then, have fun!

August 14th
Posted at 6:30pm The University server is crapped out, giving me a "HTTP error 503" when accessing the site. I don't know why, somebody pressed the wrong button I guess. So if you can read this, let me apologize for the boo-boo. I'm controlled at the whim of the University. :-(

Please remember to Vote for this page at worldcharts! I'm at 87th place (outa 100), so this page just might slip away...I'd like it to stay on though! So please vote by clicking on the link above. Thanks.

August 13th
Posted reaaaally late that night I have a final exam this week, and my 8 month work term session has 2 weeks to go, so my time is a little crunched lately. I'll still update, but don't expect a super-speedy reply to emails...but I'll do my best. I also just went though honestly tonnes of ALIEN bookmarked links I had accumulated over the past several years. HUGE listings! So many great pages no longer exist....and I found some great 'old' pages that I had forgotten. I'll post these links to spice up a slow news day. :-)

Posted at 8:17pm Added a picture of Spike the dog from ALIEN 3 courtesy of Boldguy. You can see it at the bottom of the Alien 3 people page. :)

Posted at 4:20pm New Alien Reference, with references so blatent its sick. How about a character named Weyland? Or Yutani? Or Scott Ridley? No joke. They are from the movie "Death Machine" which was directed by Steve Norrington, who also worked on ALIENS and ALIEN 3 with the creature effects crew. (And recently directed the movie 'Blade.' :-) Thanks to Boldguy!

August 12th
Posted at 4:45pm There is an Error on the official ALIENS 20th anniversary calender. They list some info on the planet setting in the movie ALIENS, with its designation being LV-246. Well, no, the actual name is LV-426. Simple error, but still...
The.avatar also mentioned a tidbit in the movie Deep Blue Sea. Take a look at the names printed on the doorways / passageways. The desingations have an LI-42# format. (In the living quarters of all of the employees).

I moved up one whole spot at Worldcharts, so the ALIEN Movies Resource Page needs some votes to keep on moving up! Please just Click Here to vote. Thanks. :-)

August 11th
Posted at 10:00pm Johner33's ALIENS page page has grown a bit. :) There you can find the picture for a few ALIEN references, with more to come I'm sure. :)

Alien Legend has been updated with a good stash of goodies. :)

Drew's Script-O-Rama has to be one of the more popular bandwidth stealers of the internet. He is currently doing the swipe routine on some of the scripts from my site...he has been for a long time. But other than that, you can read quite a few full movie scripts there. A neat site for those who have never been there.

As AvsP.net reported first, Aliens vs Predator has stuck up thier message board posting page.
Also on Avsp.net, and thanks to J.R. for also passing it along, ALIENS SE is 6th outa 10th this week on billboards video sales. :) And once again, the Aliens Fan Club has got a confirmation of an actor that I mentioned in the last update! Yeah! Visit the site for the scoop.

I also cleaned up some html on the main page. Should load a second quicker. :-) Any comments with the design? Then just Mail Me!

All links to Amazon.com are correct now, the old ones in the Merchandise section (which needs an update) were screwey.

August 9th
Posted at 10:56pm Johner33 passed along some pictures to go with the Command and Conquer Alien reference. Just Click Here to look at the similarities. :-) Thanks Johner!

Remember playing "ALIENS: The Arcade Game"? Do you wish you were young again? Well, now you can play it with an emulator and the ROM dump. :-) Just Go here, get the "MAME emulator (36b2)" and play play play. More info on the setup and stuff at that sight. Super huge thanks to Alienscollection.com and the great mailing list there, and Ciacho for the initial news!

Posted at 3:59pm I can't connect to my university account....(I'm risking life and limb with this connection now) so I won't update until later today. Sorry for the delay!
However, I just watched Deep Blue Sea an d was impressed. It was much better than I thought it would be. Renny Harlin (the director) was also once officially attached to do ALIEN 3....he really has a knack for action sequences. This was a great popcorn summer movie! I'd give it a 7 outa 10...one more script re-write and I think a lot of unintentional laughs could have been cleaned up. :-)

August 8th
Posted at 10:15am The 100,000 pageview will be broken 2morrow. When the pagecount counter hits 99K, or the nedstat counter hits 93962, that will be the official 100,000 visitor slot. (I had a counter before those 2 that since went the way of the dodo. So, do a favour, become part of history, and try to be that lucky number! (And prove it! hehe.)

ALIEN Resurrection gets a small mention in This article about sequels in movies. The sequel I'm looking forward to is Indy 4! :-)

Vote for the series!
FURY 161 was browsing though sky tv's (UK Satellite) website and found the millenium movies section, where they pick out the best 5000 movies of the century. The alien saga has fared pretty well, with Aliens at a whopping 38th place, Alien in 59th , Alien: Resurrection at 449th and finally Alien³ at 968th. Some related films? Well, T2 is at 37th, and happily Blade Runner being the second highest sci-fi flick at a truly massive 8th place. Deservingly so!
"Out of 5000 other films I think the Saga has lived up to it's reputation as one of the greatest sci-fi fi lms in history."
You can vote for the millenium movies, or just check out the tables at www.sky.co.uk/vote.

Wow! I just watched some of Waynes World 2 last night, and I had no idea that Ralph Brown (Aaron, 85 in ALIEN 3) played Dell Preston, the concert dude! Ha! Quite a change. :-) So now you can check out the Ralph Brown Tribute Page.

August 7th
Posted at 9:05pm This is the 2 year anniversary of the 1st news post that I had for this page! :-D Speaking of which, the news archives are back up and running, BUT the links to them only work on this page. (at the bottem.) I cut about 200K from this news page so it should have a bit of a boost in loading time. :)

Alienscollection.com has a great news link regarding some comments that Joss Whedon made on a fifth Alien film. It confirms what has been "known" for some time, although I think that his 'excuse' isn't really 100%. But it is from the horse's mouth. Want to read what he said? Then just go to Alienscollection.com! (Also has a great LOTR pic...damn I want to see this movie!!!)

Ivan is the bearer of bad news...: He called the Games Dealer at 1800-610-2614 and they told him that the "Alien Resurrection" game has been pushed back again for a January 15th 2000 release. So, lets see...yes, this game will be about *2 years* delayed!! And, as Ivan put it best, "Either they are having Y2K problems or they are hiring idiots to handle their game developments." Too true.

More later!

August 5th
Remember, please do a quick Vote for this page at Worldcharts! It just takes a second. :-) Thanks!

Posted at 1:44pm New reference in the game caled Dungeon Keeper" 2, thanks to Jon.

Getting a LEGACY Box set? If you don't have the coupon and cards contained inside, please call 20th Century Fox on the consumer hotline (888-223-2FOX), and speak to a customer service rep. They will ship out that week!

Hey! As mentioned before on this page, there is going to be a huge ALIEN convention in the UK in a few months. If you want to learn more about this weekend celebration of the ALIEN films, just Click Here to go to the official site! :-)

The University server has been CRAP today...so I think access to everyone (and me!) was limited for the majority of the morning. Sorry for the inconvienince.

Weyland Yutani Special Weapons division has a very nice download availible...check out the site to find out what.

Affiliate site Infested Worlds has been updated with some news on the newest ALIEN comic release!

August 5th
Posted at 4:44pm Some new references, from Johner33 & Tiberian Sun C&C; and a picture of a Carcass album, thanks to The.avatar.

When in the world will the "Alien Resurrection" game be released? As Ivan says, add 4 nines on your calendar, as in 9-9-99 (September 9th, 1999.) In the Unoficial Playstation Magazine (August edition), they mention that Fox Interactive is planning on a marketing campaing for the release of the game.

With the release of Croc 2 due out next week, Fox Interactive will focus all of its attention to the release of "Alien Resurrection." The new trailer that was made but never released on the DVD set should (and I use the term loosely) be appearing at the end of August. The trailer should stop showing on the 18th of September. The trailer consists of a lot of new scenes with "9" at the begining, "9" towards the middle, and "99" towards the end.
Now people are considering this to be a false rumor since the game will be released in the fall (October 12th, 1999) and the fall starts after September 20th. Let's hope it's all true, usually an "unofficial" news can be an "inacurate" information.

I just don't understand the ranking system at Worldcharts. The ALIEN Movies Resource Page dropped another whack of rankings, while only the week before gained a bunch. Odd. But I'm near the bottom of the hundred...so please take out a second and Vote for this page, now in its 71st week on the charts! Go ALIEN fans!

Posted at 11:36am Well, I beleive I got my ALIEN LEGACY making of 5th dvd today. So, it *is* shipping in Canada now! :-) And if you want to get it, damn, don't go o Ebay! One dude made 56 bucks US off it! Amazing.

August 4th
Posted at 4:36pm I'm back! I had a great weekend. :-) But when I checked into my email today I noticed my uni server account and email was full... yikes...I guess that's what happens when I don't check my email for 3 and a half days and don't clean out my web account. Speaking of which, The news page has topped over 200K of data, I'll be very soon splitting it and putting it into the archives, which WILL be resurrected ASAP!

The movie Deep Blue Sea seems to be getting some quite good reviews! I've also been sent an ALIENS reference from the movie, which will be posted (and read!) after I see the flick. :) I have heard that the movie directly rips of several action flicks. [Also, Director Renny Harlin was attached to direct ALIEN 3 for a while before asking to be let go. For a good solid action flick, see his movie "The Long Kiss Goodnight." It went past my expectations in terms of action! :-)
But folks, don't believe the hype of The Blair Witch Project. I saw it, and was not scared. Some parts are creepy, and I appreciated the way it was filmed, the acting, the situations...but it did not live up to the expectations. But if you get scared in movies, you'll be freaked when you see it!

Hello! Also take a look at the new ALIENS vs PREDATOR Top 100 sites. The interesting point of this site is that it counts "visits" (img loadings of its small picture, currently on the bottom of my main page) rather than having to 'click' on the link like an advert. So check it out. Last I checked, this page was in 2nd place, behind affiliate AvsP.net. As a mostly predator list so far, I can see why this page is whupping but. :-)

I have the references ready to add....but not the server space. I'll fix that problem 2morrow, and add all the new references and even some links of pictures to prove it. Thanks to everyone who has sent some news in! :-) Today has to be one of the most un-alien related news updates ever! Oh wait, a nice one-of-a kind model diorama can be seen over at Alienscollection.com. Very nice, very nice... :-)
