ALIEN related NEWZ

Old News Page
January 1999 - July 1999.

July 30th
Posted at 3:03pm Saw "The Haunting." I'd give it 6.5 out of 10...just because it didn't scare me. I know it made other in the theatre jump! Without giving anything away, I was disspointed in the corny aspect of the final overall story. You'll know what I mean if you see it! :-D Also attached to this print of the Haunting was the new trailer for "The Fight Club", David Fincher's (ALIEN 3) new movie. Looks great! For more information on Fincher's work, head on over to CINEMANIA's site and let your mouse do the clicking. Has a very nice David Fincher area. Enjoy!

I got a "complaint" today about how I give descriptions in my Links Section. Well, if you don't like a description, or have one for your own site (that is REALISTIC), then just e-mail me. If you don't do that...then tough!

Jon U. reports that his ALIEN Legacy 5th DVD, the documentary has arrived at his house through the mail. So, if you have sent in your coupons, start doing the daily check of your mailbox!

Harry Dean Stanton (Brett from 1979's science fiction/horror film Alien) is co-starring in Warner Bros. TheGreen Mileas the character Toot Toot, which also stars Tom Hanks, a film supposedly about prison life. Thanks to Sean for passing that along.

In the Alt.cult-movies.alien newsgroup, "REPUBLIK" is posting ALIENS songs to the tunes of the Beach Boys...so you can now sing along to Little APC, Run Run Run, and even a Seal tune. Hey, it made me laugh a little. Check it out.

I will not be updating this page until Monday at the earliest, I'm going on a bit of a break from the 'pooter. :-D I'll respond to all mail then, but I'll respond to everyone, honest!

Until Monday, please vote for this page at Worldcharts! (The ALIEN Movies resource page is at 78th spot, down 5 (AHH!)). Just Click Here to pass along a valuable vote. :) Also, don't forget to Vote for ALIEN Collectors Homeworld, a smoothly designed website dealing with information on ALIEN collectables.

Posted at 4:48pm I apologize for the lack of updates this week. News is sparse and I have been *extremely* busy this week. I'll post some more ALIEN references, and a quickie news update 2morrow. Thanks for waiting! (P.S.:Any EXCEL VBA programming guru's out there? I'm in need of help! Please Mail Me if you could lend a hand... thanks!

July 26th
Posted at 10:25pm The page is dropping in and out of the web....it seems that the University server is screwing up a bit. Thanks for your patience....

Posted at 4:00pm New Alien Reference thanks to Ripley (No, not *that* Ripley!) It is from the TV show "The Naked Truth."

Posted at 11:06am As John passes on, The Digital Bits has posted a review of the ALIEN trilogy documentary. Cool!

Posted in the early morning... Got some great new info on the ALIEN DVD and the audio track. Now you call can create CD-R's of the music from the movie, straight from the source! Just go to the ALIEN Music area for the scoop (3rd tracklisting down!). Thanks to Hiphats! :)

July 25th
Posted at 11:47am Finally updated the Links page. Added some, scrapped others, and put something of a structure and order on the links. Also added some 'quick jumps' to ease the navigation. If you want a link there, or know of a movie link...just pass it along and I'll stick it up. :-)

July 24th
Posted at 2:51pm As Ty reports, the 5th ALIEN LEGACY DVD *is* shipping right now, at least to US addresses. :) So start checking your mailboxes! I'd assume it is not to late to mail your coupons in either!

The movie I'm most looking forwars to seeing, other than the new Star Wars flicks, is the upcoming Lord of the Rings movie. I just recently re-read the books, and still think it is a classic tale. And how is this ALIEN related? Well, Ian Holm has been cast as Bilbo Baggins, the main character of "The Hobbit" (precursor to the Lord of the Rings), and he has a minor role in the new set of movies. Yeah! Oh, for those of you who don't know, Ian Holm portrayed ASH in the movie ALIEN. For more LOTR news, go to Theonering.net or ringbearer.org.

The new movie "Dick" has a few ALIEN relations...it is produced by the same producer for ALIENS (Gale Ann Hurd), and stars Dan Hedaya (General Perez in Alien Resurrection) as the US president Nixon. More news on related movies a little later.

Interested in writing scripts? Then go to Scripts on the Net, a HUGE resource for script links on the big 'ol web. :-)

Posted at 6:08pm FALSE ALARM! The DVD was not at my doorstep today. Oh well, the Sharpline Arts 5th disc will just have to wait a little while longer. Worth the wait though! Actually, a CD did arrive, and I must say that CDnow has great customer service! There was a boo-boo in me getting an order several months ago. A week and a half ago I emailed them, quickly got a reply, and a week later the problem is resolved and the cd is in my hands. :-D (I'm happy.) :-)

Speaking of CDs, BoldGuy passed on some -great- info for those people hunting for the ALIEN CD soundtrack. Yalplay.com has the the album instock. It's a UK site, so it's charges in sterling, and is £7.64, and it is the original Silverscreen version. "The site is great cos it doesn't advertise much, meaning most people dont know of its existance, even though it has one of the most concise multimedia catalogues on the net." All you UK seekers of the ALIEN soundtrack can send a thanks to boldguy! And its just like 17 or so bucks canadian (say..12 bucks US?) Great deal. Order it!

Posted at 3:14pm Whoops! The actual Links page with the new URLS will be updated later today! Thanks for your patience... :-)

Posted at 2:42pm DVD mail-away discs arriving?
It is reported that at my house, as of this moment, there is a "package" claiming a "cd" is inside with a value of $12.99. The return address is in Missasauga, Ontario. This is where the Canadians had to mail away thier DVD 5th disc coupon! I'm confirm later today, but it seems that the DVD is on its way!

COMING SOON
ALIEN 5
Story Treatment By Screenwriter David Jess

Anyone getting those Starwars toys at Tacobell, Pizza Hut, and KFC? You know, these toys.. Well, I have 4 more to go, and I've heard Taco Bell isn't getting any more (I need 2 from them.)....can anyone out there spare an extra "Anakin's Transforming Bank" and "Anakins Podracer"??? I'm desperate here. I need them in the box! I also need Planet Naboo and Planet Courscant. Damn these limited supplies! If any of ya can help me, please pass along an email. Thanks.

2 new sites have requested that I'd give them a looksie. So go on and visit Alien Central, (nice graphic layout) and surf on over to page.. I've also updated the links section with links to some nice box office report websites. BoxOfficeGuru, ShowBiz Data, Box Office Report, and even Mr. Showbiz. And one can't forget Daily Movies, in a brand new site!

I've had this link for a while, but never bothered posting it. Well, I recently found it in a 5 month old email, so take a look at this picture. It is of Burke cocooned with Ripley. I have a lesser quality version of this pic on my Cut Scenes page. But more importantly, check out the Main site, this collection is amazing!

2 places for you all to vote...the important one is Worldcharts, the ALIEN Movies resource page is at 73rd spot presently. Just Click Here to vote! Thanks.
Also, if you want just click right at this spot to vote for this page in the ALIEN top 25. You have to enter the site for the vote to be registered. Another (more reliable) TOP 25 ALIEN website listing can be found by clicking here.

Just a note, I have not seen the ALIEN soundtrack on CD (Silva Screens issue) for a LONG time in stores locally. If you all see it and want it, pick it up! It is likely not being printed anymore. Go to the ALIEN Music page for more info.

July 22nd
8:38pm Big thanks to Boldguy and sky! He reports this tidbit of Alien 5 news:
On Sky Moviemax the other week, one of the usual Hollywood news type shows, and I happened to channel flick over to just when it was ending, to notice they were doing a concise report on the Alien Saga. They briefly had a very blond Sigourney Weaver being interviewed and she claimed that there probably will be an Alien5 and that although she doesnt know where it'll be set, but she expressed that she wants to be able to see the Alien's homeworld in the next film, cos according to her, she always thought it would be fun to see how these things live on their very own planet. With all the power she has in the series, one can only assume that she may get her wish.
Nathan's Note: Interesting! At least it shows that Weaver is still interested in the series. She was blond (at the time in the interview) due to her upcoming role in the movie "Galaxy Quest."

July 22nd
4:44pm This news section is getting huge. I'll archive it tonight I hope, along with an update of news if I can scrounge some up. :)

July 21st
No update for the last few days...I've not been at a computer for a while! I actually had not checked my email for almost 2 days! Incredible, I know. :-) I've responded to most of you folks who have been waiting a week for a reply. I've also got an exam tonight, so the delay may continue....

This page is in 8th spot right now at top25, with 112 votes. If a bunch of you visitors can vote, I'd clearly blow past a few of the websites ahead of this page. To vote you just click here and that's it. And thanks to all of you who voted for this page at Worldcharts!. This page moved up 15 spots to 73rd place, with what I beleive is the largest voter turnout with 45! Amazing. Keep it going! Just magically click here to vote for the ALIEN Movies Resource Page.

Updated the South Park References a bit. Thanks to Hicks. I know some of you readers have sent in more, but I have a backlog of email to dig through first. :-).

Hicks passes along: In the latest issue of Cinescape thy have an article concerning the "Unsung heroes of Scifi/horror" in which the profile several people including Michael Biehn and Jennette Goldstein also Bill Paxton's mentioned The new 15th anniversary of Ghostbusters is finally out. (Sigourney Weaver co-starred).

I'll do a search for more ALIEN news tomorrow. :)

July 18th
I added some quotes on Goldenthal that I found...a link is provided to read the entire interview. Just go to the Alien 3 music section to give it a look.

July 17th
Later that day, 10:38pm Do you want info on the vast amount of ALIEN comics? Then visit the newly revamped and relocated Aliens: Infested Worlds at its new home. All the info you'd want to know! :-)

Not really a boatload of news...but it seems that someone has added my page to the Top25 page, although the website was already on it. For everyone out there, the URL used to access this site is
http://www.ucalgary.ca/~naflande
and not www.ACS.ucal... with the acs bit there. The univesrsity server will automatically transfer the non acs addy to the acs one. Besides, I don't type in the extra 'acs' anyway. Also, the URL http://travel.to/aliens
also should work fine. :-) It actually gives me an error message, which is why I don't use it, but the link is working. :)

You want obscure Alien related news? John Bolton, who did the cover art for the "Newts Tale" series of comics, will be contibuting to a starwars charity comic. I think he is a great artist...which is why I'd mention it here. :) And it is for charity! You can find out more by Clicking here.

July 16th
I'll do a looksie for news 2morrow. But hey, its friday, and that means voting day. :-)
I'm about 150 votes behind the leader! The leader of what you ask? Well, just click here to find out about the Top25 list, and lending me a vote ta boot. (Okay, okay, that was shameful of me, but I swear I'll only promote my site a few more times and thats it. Honest. :-)

More shameless promotion? Okay! The scoop: I'm tied for the longest running homepage ever at Worldcharts. But I'm falling! It just takes a vote to keep me on the list. Please? Good. Thank you for voting for the ALIEN Movies Resource Page! :-)

July 15th
See a picture of the scene in South Park, with an animated Ripley and Newt. Click Here, And hear it by Clicking Here!
Thanks to The.avatar and Beef-cake!

July 15th
It looks like Lance Henriksen, (BISHOP), and the ex-star of the cancelled show Millenium, may be up for a role in Scream 3. Dark Horizons has some more casting info posted.

Thanks to The.Avatar for passing this along!
If you have a camcorder ready and some friends you could possibly film this fast. Check out the latest PCgamer issue (July issue). There is an article towards the back for a contest for people to re-enact any scene from the Alien or Predator films. The prizes were Alien/Predator related. I believe Ridley Scott is the one judging the films. Sorry, but I don't have the magazine with me to scan. I believe the contest ends the 25th. This is as much as I know, the website mentions nothing of the contest, but I remember the ad. [Nathan's Note: Also in that magazine (I think) are a few nice ALIENS vs PREDATOR ads. And Starwars adverts. :)

ALIEN Legacy on TV?
From Ivan:
In an e-mail newsletter from The Sci-Fi Channel, it is rumored that they are planing on showing all Alien movies in October/November. Now, the Sci-Fi Channel will be the first channel (other than premium channels like HBO and Cinemax) to pick up "Alien Resurrection" on cable. I'm guessing it would be the same format like the DVD or VHS set, since they said the word "special editions" and "letterboxed". [So you all can set your VCRs early!]
And while you are at the Sci-fi channel website, look at the DESCENT 3 logo. Looks a little familier to ALIEN 3, but its probably just a coincidence. :)
A preview of upcoming films was also shown, included was "Species 2", "Spawn", "The Abyss", and bits and pieces of all Alien films, did not see parts of "Alien Resurrection" though. Also, the "Alien Resurrection" video game will be release this October 12th, 1999, which coincides with the usual 2 year delay from theatrical run to TV network airing. [Thanks to Ivan!]

Wow, I got off my butt and updated the ALIEN References! I have more things to add...but this one will do for now. Mike D. sent along a new South Park Reference. :)

July 14th
I made a mistake in posting the Calgary Stampede website, the actual official site can be found Here. I just won tickets in the clubhouse seats. (definition : Kick-ass!)

From The.Avatar: (And yes, it is ALIEN related! :) Some little facts about the new movie starring Galaxy Quest. If you remember the photo of Sigourney Weaver @ the Alien DVD celebration she was blonde. In Galaxy Quest she will be blonde. Tim Allen is "quadruple Alien fan" according to himself. This is all from E.T. (Entertainment Tonight) check your local listings it might play today. [Whoops...this is several days old.] But E.T. Also had a small clip of the ALIEN anniversary with Weaver as a blonde. Quite a different look for her!

From Michael P, I have not confirmed....but check it out anyway!
I was at the Fox site and they have a contest where you can win Ripley's tank top from Alien Resurrection. The only problem is you have to live in the USA to enter. Yet another ALIEN contest limited to the States! So all you americans enter, alrighty? Thanks to Michael.

Have you all clicked on the TOP25 link? Yes? NO?! Well then get to it! :) Thanks.

I saw American Pie yesterday, I thought it was quite funny, VERY gross out at times, but I was busting a gut laughing at a few scenes. I'd give it a 7.5 outta 10. But it was a well written, entertaining movie!

July 13th
Sorry for the lack of update in the last 4 days. Sunday I spent 16+ hours at the Calgary Stampede seeing the events, going on rides, and taking in the sun. (I was one of 172,000+ people there!) I think I checked my email once from fri-sunday. :-) Its nice to take a break! I'll post "real" ALIEN news 2morrow morning, honest. :-)

There is a new "ranking" list on the web now. This one has interactive capabilities, as it says. The only catch? A "vote" is counted only when you click on the image and enter the site! But there is content thier, it lists a whack of other ALIEN sites that have gained a bunch of points. But I just put the ALIEN Movies Resource Page on the list, so you all are going to need to click on the image below to register some quick votes. Thanks! I'll also have the image on my Main page at the bottom for a week or so.

TOP25

Oh, I am going to have to re-name this news page, like the HTML name for a few days...so please do not bookmark this page, but the MAIN page...as this will stay in its current spot. Thanks.

The ALIEN Movies Resource Page is now 1 of just *2* sites left on the original top 100 homepages list at Worldcharts! Thats' right, 67 weeks and counting on the list, longest running, tied for first! But the page dropped 10 spots to 88th...so I need all of your help! Please click here to Vote!
[Wow...not really any ALIEN related news. But I'll get some 2morrow. Related movie info too. Stay tuned!]

July 9th
Remember to Vote for this page as being one of the best homepages in the world at Worldcharts! Did I ever mention that I do this for free, make no money on it, have no advertisements, and use up my University account with alien-web html? hehe. So come'on, please send a vote by clicking here! Thanks.

July 8th
hehe. I did try to update last night, but as many of you may have noticed, the University shut down its server for the night. (It does this every few thursday evenings.) So here is the news:

Robert noticed a couple more mistakes for the LEGACY DVD set:
On the back of my copy of Aliens SE: Sigourney is spelt "Siguorney" in two places; the heading and the text below the heading. As follows..."Siguorney Weaver Returns in the Stunning Special Edition Release of "ALIENS"!
In this action-packed sequel to ALIEN, Siguorney Weaver returns as Ripley, ......"

Robert also observers: The listed time for Alien is 116 minutes (not 117 minutes) both on my copy of the disc and on the package.

Ivan pass along some cool news:
On the Fox Interactive Website and saw on their news section that an "Alien Versus Predator" trailer (FOR THE GAME, not the movie) was suppose to be included in the DVD set of the "Alien Legacy" as part of their special features.
Of course, we all know that no trailer was ever included, but something very funny happened to my "Alien Resurrection" DVD disk. I did a chapter search and skipped right to the end credits. I played the entire end credits and started to do a 'fast forward' within the track, then all of the sudden, the forward stopped and I saw flowers on my screen, then it played automatically and saw a still of the "Alien Versus Predator" game box art with "Spring 1999." Then it skipped to an "Alien Resurrection" game box art cover, which you can see by making a search on the Games Dealer site, and that's it. I've tried so many times to get this back on my DVD disk, but it only worked the first time, I know I saw it, but just can't get it back.

So, does Ivan's disc have some mysterious omen about it? Why don't you all check it out and send me the results! :-)

Ivan also passes along: The trailer that was on the "Alien Trilogy" widescreen format of "Alien Resurrection" game is the same on the "Alien 3" DVD disk, word says that the new trailer that was made for the game will be shown on TV as part of its publisity campaing instead of the DVDs this fall. [Nathan's Note: The FOX channel affiliate in Spokane is airing ALIEN 3 this weekend. Check your local listings!]

Last week, HBO showed "Alien Resurrection". Well, I saw it being published on the TV-Guide channel, which shows all the things showing on TV, like a TV schedule. Well, I tuned in to HBO and saw that a movie was about to end and then "Alien Resurrection" was going to start. It was about 9pm and I was falling asleep when the end credits of the previous movie woke me up because it was so loud. Well between the previous movie and "Alien Resurrection", they showed a small preview of "Galaxy Quest" in which Sigourney Weaver stars with Tim Allen about TV hosts that get invated and kidnapped by aliens. Well, this movie is going to be release this Christmas. They showed a film biography of Sigourney Weaver when she stared in "Alien", then "Gorillas in the Mist", then the rest of the Alien saga, then "Ghostbusters", then "Alien Resurrection", basically an overview of her most popular films.
Well, they said that Weaver won't be escaping the alien menace anytime soon, as they said that she'll go back to Los Angeles and star in a top secret project in late 2000 after she complete filming on another movie by Disney. The "top secret" project is going to be by Paramount, so this kinda tells you it might not be Alien related.
[Thanks Ivan! Much appreciated. And if you all have NOT seen "Gorrillas in the Mist" with Weaver, I highly recommend it. It is a great film!]

Ivan also yells:
On a Spanish tabloid magazine, something like "Entretenimiento Estrellal", Isaw on a news stand a few days ago in Boston, Massachusetts, they had an article on her and Allen in Star Trek like suit, which suggested them to be in "Galaxy Quest", and she was quoted (in Spanish translation) that she would want to work with Winona Ryder again because she said she's a great person to work with. And this project was rumored to star Ron Perlman as well as Ryder, but no word on Dominique Pinon (Vriess in "AR"), which again, sounds funny to me.

I really love the films of David Fincher, and his style. And since the ALIEN 3 DVD booklet had his next movie wrong (it is Fight Club, not Rendevous with Rama), here are some breif writeups about the films, from Corona;
Rendevous with Rama : Premise: Two centuries from now, a mysterious, immense alien spaceship dubbed 'Rama' enters the Solar System. Earth sends out an exploration team to board the approaching craft, which appears to be a giant cylindrical tube. Once inside the vessel, the explorers find themselves in a self-contained world of alien wonders and unknown purpose - seemingly abandonded. Perhaps. (Arther C. Clarke, of 2001 fame, wrote the novel! Morgan Freeman owns the book rights, and is interested in working with Fincher again.)
Fight Club Premise: You're rich, you're upwardly mobile, you're young, you're male. What to do for fun? Why, beat the crap out of each other -- of course!

There you have it. I'll give you another update a little later. :-)

July 8th
Whoops! I can't seem to copy my update to the news page at the moment....I'll do it later tonight. (current time: 4:12, estimated update time = 9:00) :-) Just keeping you all informed. :-)

July 7th
Bill Paxton was on a special about about the 75th annivesary of Warner Brothers movie studio. Among some other things, he mentioned how he tried to imitate an 'eyebrow stare' a la Kubrick.

Several new comic releases too.
Aliens vs. Predator Annual #1
Click Here;
Aliens: Xenogenesis & Predator: Xenogenesis
Click Hrere for more, And a little more Comics!

Here is a clip of the descriptions of a few upcoming ALIENS comic series, from the "Comic News" paper:

ALIENS won't always be the ulitmate predator, and mankind is ready to prove it. ALIENS: Xenogenesis is the new four-issue limited series that takes the fight to the monsters, and sets the stage for the new relationship between man and alien. (aug-$2.95)

You know, its probably been a year since the last time that the aliens and the predators went toe-to-toe. Of course, that's just at theroy--but since the ALIENS vs PREDATOR ANNUAL #1 is about to hit the shelves, it isn't a bad wager. This forty-eight page one-shot contains five separate stories by five different creative teams, each providing their own unique take on this dynamic conflict. (july-$4.95)

Darkhorizons has some pictures from Ridley Scott's next movie, "Gladiator." It looks great! Thanks to the.avatar and DarkHorizons! :-)

The South Park Movie is great (if you are a fan), but don't take any younger kids to see it! :-) Just a word of advice!

July 5th
I hope all Americans are enjoying the 4th of July holiday. :-)
I didn't see ALIEN in theatre. The cinema was on the other side of the city, and it was the most expensive in Calgary; the show *began* at 12:30am, and I was sick. So I didn't go. However, if the streak of these movies continues, I should be able to see ALIEN 3 on the big screen in a few weeks. :-D

The ALIENS vs PREDATOR game has sold over 200,000 units in its first 3 weeks of release. Not to shabby! I also was able to play it for the first time on the weekend, and I was *very* impressed! GREAT job done by Rebellion and FOX interactive. Too cool!

A comic shop magazine listed a new 'ALIENS vs PREDATOR' comic series/ one-shot being released this month. I'll try to confirm that later.

There was a great advertisement for ALIENS vs PREDATOR in a magazine...whose name utterly eludes me at the moment. Empire magazine? Crap, I can't remember and I looked at it a few days ago. Anyway, it featured the silhouette of the ALIEN and comments on who can play....If I remember more details or get the ad I'll post it. :-)

Posted some corrections & info to the Legacy section, thanks to Paul R. ALIEN 2nd easter egg, ALIENS listed running time, and ALIEN 4 extra contents. :-D

July 3rd
Attention all Calgarians (where I live!). At the Coliseum theatre (the new big-ass complex) ALIEN is playing tonight at 12:30 (pm, at night). Great theatre, but the admission is a rip-off. If it is not playing there, it will be shown at Westhills theatre, which is also a dandy place. If I go the show I'll report back on the trip. :-D

July 2nd
HAPPY CANADA DAY! (July 1st)
Well, I spent yesterday celebrating Canada's 132nd Anniversary. Its a great holiday! (well, for Canadians anyway. :-D Not a lot of news has been trickling in lately. Just tidbits on ALIEN series actors & actresses. Oh, this weekend is my first weekend off school in several months. I hope to spend a small amount of time updating the page, adding some stuff...and going through emails that are almost one year old regarding the nitpic area and things. AND updating the ALIEN FAQ. (Yes, I have not forgotten about that.) And I have a social life too! hehe. So gimmie a few days. :-)

But if you can't wait, please Click Here to vote for the ALIEN Movies Resource Page at WORLDCHARTS! They'd love it if you votedd!!!

June30th
Interesting! Thanks to The.avatar for reminding me of this:
Corona Film Listings has a new bit of info on ALIENS vs PREDATOR. Just read the link and you'll see what I mean. It comes from the HEAD CHEESE at fox interactive! ALIENS vs PREDATOR has made 7 million in just 2 weeks! That is quite amazing. Congrats to Fox. :-)

June28th
The nice AliensNL website has been restructured. It includes a load of screenshots from the movies, and has now been converted into English. :) You can visit the site by Clicking Here (new URL addy.) It has a large AvsP section with dozens of my own screenshots from the final version of the Aliens vs Predator-game.

Here is an interesting tidbit (blooper) in ALIEN 4...for those who don't know it. Thanks to Crescent for spotting it!
In the A4 script, the discovery of the seven other clones occurs after Purvis is found, yet in the film it is the other way around. The movie was actually shot like in the script, with Purvis being discovered first then the clones. The proof of this is in the crane shot when Ripley stops and turns towards the 1-7 door. Eight people pass by her, yet up to that point there are only seven other characters. Purvis is the first to pass by her and conveniently moves into the far background and as a result is out of focus.
I believe the shots immediatly following this scene were pick-ups to get rid of Purvis from that part of the film.

Alienscollection.com Has got a new Hasbro URL that has some Predator statues....just surf on Hasbro to check it out. Also, alienscollection.com has revamped the already enormous links section. You want collectables? Then go find 'em!

David Fincher's upcoming movie, The Fight Club, has been moved back to October. This film has a great teaser...and should prove once more that the ALIEN 3 director has a knack for the dark. :-)

I'll add the pics for some references (or links to pics) a little later...I can't upload to my account right now (its too full! :-)

June 25th
A bit of a weak time for news. Either later today or tomorrow morning I'll post some pictures of 2 new references, thanks to The.Avatar.. (and more, credit will be given after I wade through a tonne of emails. :-)

Remember to Vote for this page at Worldcharts! Another "original" 100 member, from 64 weeks ago, dropped out. So this page, along with a Mariah Carey tribute and A Hardware guide are the only ones left after 64 weeks! Lets keep this page on the top. Please click here to vote! :-)

I recently was able to view the HBO "Bringing the screams to the screen" ALIEN 3 first look. This half hour special had several small clips of cut scenes, including one of Golic kicking open something in the wall; (This is when he is sent out with the 2 prisoners...ahh, just go Here and find it; it also had a nice shot of the outside of FURY-161 with Clemons carrying Ripley over the landscape and into the complex. Also had a shot of Golic turning around in the cafeteria; covered in Bogg's blood. Cool stuff!

June 22nd
Interesting! I found an old tape (a month or so) and it featured some scenes / behind the scenes from Ridley Scott's Gladiator, including a breif speil with the ALIEN director. Looks like an amazing epic style movie...and the budget (it mentions) has gone past the 100 million buck mark. Whoa.

Locally, copies of ALIENS vs PREDATOR are going for just $45 Canadian...or about $30 bucks US. Not to bad at all. Beauty cover too. For more info on this game just go to AvsP.net.

Alien Resurrection for playstation? Planes toting adverts for the game? 100% true! Just check out Alienscollection.com to see. :-)

Hmm.. A very weak update. I'll try for better stuff 2morrow. But in the works is the biggest ALIEN series sound site. It will get done!

June 22nd
Sorry for the delay in updates....I have a final exam (and a meager social life!!) coming up, but I swear, promise, 100%, cross my heart, that there *will* (however somewhat small) update on the World of ALIEN news right here, 2morrow. Honest. I will stick something ALIEN related up here! :-) If any of you folks have comments, suggestions, questions (but not "where can I get the ALIENS special edition), please just pass along an e-mail to me. I'll respond! Hey, if you have any news email me too. :-) Seeya 2morrow.

June 20th
Thanks to Willie and Kaminski for passing along this info!
Soundtrack cinema at Film.com has some of the soundtrack for Alien. It wont be here long though! Click Here to visit it. Great stuff!

June 19th
Ack! I forgot! The ALIEN Movies Resource Page rank at Worldcharts is slipping! I need you all to vote so this page don't slip and slide no more. Oh, come on, please? hehe. I'm sure you all can. :-) Just Click Here to vote! Thanks.

June 18th
D'oh! I completely missed out on this bit of news. Sorry to anyone who would have found it usefull (Canadians, anyway. :-) Click Here to read about a Canadian ALIEN 20th anniversary release festiva. :-)

The error on the LEGACY ALIENS SE box regarding the use of the movie title "ALIEN" rather then ALIENS is not new. As Boldguy reports: This is not the first time Fox has made this mistake, in fact this error is over 7 years old, and no-one failed to notice. On my original PAL VHS version of Aliens SE from 1992, when the famous copyright information scrolls up the screen before the film starts (ya know, the film title is in yellow, the rest of the text in a scrolling blue paragraph), well, the yellow title reads - "Alien's Special Edition". Anyone who ever did English at school knows that this reads as being the special edition of Alien. [Nathan's note: Doesn't this mean that "Alien" (noun) has possesion over their own Edition? Someone tell Ridley Scott!] Thanks to Boldguy!

Update on DIVX: DIVX is dead. Circut City has announced that it will offer a $100 rebate for people who purchased the machine (I'd imagine it would be the player) and it would service the DIVX market for the next 2 years. So run out and pick up those now worthless (collectors items?) ALIEN 4 divx's.

There is some info on ALIEN 5 on the ALIEN DVD. But it is not solid or anything. But the gist is that during Ridley Scott's commentary track on the movie, Scott voices that he is interested in directing another Alien film and would like to explore ideas brought up in the first film, as well as show the alien homeworld and their life cycle. This is mentioned as Kane looks at the Space Jockey for the 1st time.

I wanna redesign my website! Re-vamp! I just can't get the ball rolling. So...who wants to do it for me... :-) But I want to ahve the news section more like AVSP, so there is a 'title' or heading to each broadcast. We shall see! And DO NOT believe the silly rumours in the ALIEN newsgroup...they are crap. :-)

Matthew Reports:
Taken from the Wall Street Journal (today, 17 June; section B, page 10)
"Circuit City Pulls the Plug on Its Divx Videodisk Venture" : by Evan Ramstad

After spending three years trying to win support for a new way to sell home videos, Circuit City Stores Inc. pulled the plug on its pay-per-view digital videodisks and took a $114 million after-tax charge for its first fiscal quarter.....
Basically the article goes on to say how CC was unable to convince studiosand retailers to support DIVX. So it looks like those ALIEN Resurrection DIVX discs are collectors items now! Now that DIVX has lost its major (only?) distributor....woo-hoo! :-)

June 16th
[Note: Some of this info may be known already...old stuff!] An error on the VHS ALIENS SE? This was passed on to me, and originated in the ALIEN newsgroup from |- Larken -|-. On the back of the VHS box it lists that "Sigourney Weaver Returns in the Stunning Special Edition Release of "ALIEN"! Whoops. This *is* ALIENS, after all. I'll confirm this error later today....the local HMV has stacks of this flick. :-D

From Kim: There may also be a problem with Mitsubishi DVD players playing the Alien DVD. On two discs now there is a freeze on the disc between the end of Chapter 11 and the beginning of Chapter 12. I wonder if Mits is using some Toshiba hardware. I have had no other problems with DVD. This is likely due to the dual sided nature of the movie: This is where it flips. Odd that it would freeze though. :-/

Here is a nice excerpt, thanks to Hicks. I'll stick it on the ALIENS people page eventually.

In the most recent issue of "Sci-Fi Entertainment" they have an article about Lance Henriksen (Bishop) and they had one sub-section reading, "Tasting The Alien" which said : "Admit it - It's something that you've been wondering in the back of your mind since the final scenes of "Aliens" in 1986. The Queen Alien has just speared Henriksen, as Bishop, and she's prepping to yank him north and south. As soon as the Queen's tail pops through Henriksen's chest, he starts burbling out a weird milky-white fluid. So what was it? 'It was a mix of milk and yogurt,' Henriksen says. 'It made me very sick, because the prop people had done a mix of it early in the morning, and then left it out as we worked all day, and it went bad. The first time I tasted it, I got so sick from it, but I just had to keep working , no matter hom sick I felt. I was spewing that stuff 10 feet and the fact that it tasted absolutely horrible helped get it out, and with my 'death-throes' espression.' Now you know."
From the Digital Bits, thanks to Jon:
With the Alien Legacy packages that are missing the coupon for the 5th documentary DVD disc, and the pack cards, do not avail! One of our readers [digitalbits] faced this problem, and found a phone number for you to call if you're missing the them too - 1-888-223-2369. They'll send replacement coupon and cards out via mail. Keep on visiting The Digital Bits!.

Here is a wee ditty...It may be in the References section, but hey, its a reminder for y'all. :-)
Dameyon reports: Aliens SE has a sequence when Hudson's telling Ripley about the weapons on board the drop ship he says, "we have phase plasma rifles".
in the original Terminator film, Arnie is in a gun shop and he's asking for his guns and he asks the clerk for a "phase plasma rifle with a 40 watt range." I also thought i made another connection to the two films with the models of the Bishop droid and the Terminator model, but the difference being Bishop is a Hyperdyne model and the Terminator is a CyberDyne. [Nathan's note: Also, both movies include a large 'corporation', Artificial Humans, pulse-like rifles, guns(!), a strong female lead (the only survivor too!), Lance Henriksen, Micheal B., Bill Paxton, same producer, writer & director.] hehe...

Cool! The ALIEN Movies Resource Page got a nice mention Here when Alien 4 came out in November of 1997. I just found it now. :-) My thanks to Daniel Lee and The Site. :-)

DVD-deals...can't go wrong with that!

June 13th
I'll spice up an update (the one I was 'supoosed to ad friday) and see if I can do it 2morrow.

David Fincher keeps his 'dark' movie style alive...after ALIEN 3 he did Se7en, then The Game, and now he has Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Helena Bonham Carter in "The Fight Club." Great teaser trailer too! You can look at it here!

I'm planning on 2morrow also to add a bunch of emails that I've received about various ALIEN news tidbits. I've been very busy with school (I have 4 days to help write a 30 page paper) so my time is limited after work....whine whine whine.....:-D But I'll make due. Pretty soon I'll add a whole bunch of stuff...you'll like it, I'm sure. The 'ol website has passed 86,000 visits, thanks to everyone who has dropped by! :-)

The Local HMV has a dvd section, and they have stacks of a 4 fold-out page DVD / video advert, the last page is devoted to ALIEN LEGACY with a (I'd assume) fox-made advert...shows pics of the VHS set, DVD set & singles, and some info.

June 11th
Nutz! I forgot to add an update...all that stuff will be added on Monday (different computer has the info stored on it.) But there may be a problem with another DVD player; Mitsubishi (spelling may be wrong, sorry, it is 1:38am and I'm reading my email! How 90's...anyway) more will be posted on that when I wake up.

And you know what? I forgot the other news ditty I was gonna add. Ahhh, heck, just go to Alienscollection.com as they *always* have some news waiting in the collectable industry. I give you a 100% assurance on that. And don't forget that ALIENS vs PREDATOR is out, so check out the affiliate Aliens vs Predator Network for some great new reviews...if only the game would run on my computer... :-D

And please, give a vote to Worldcharts...the ALIEN Movies Resource Page is now one of THREE, thats right *THREE* sites, out of the original 100 (64 weeks and running) still in the top 100. But the page dropped some spots last week...just click here to vote!

The ALIEN Collectors Homeworld got a brand new Home, and it still provides great info on collectables, groovey pictures...all in a fantastic layout. (okay, okay, I like the site. :-) Just Click Here to go there. :-)

June 10th
I'm going to wait until the end of this month until I archive this years news. (6 months!!) By then I will have the old archives, july 1997 - December 98. :-) I guess this webpage is almost 2 years old. I had it open to the public at the start of July, but its skeleton of completeness (hehe) was up in August.

I added some 'quick jumps' to the Dvd and Cut3 page. I do the same on the References page shortly.

I had other real ALIEN news....but I've completely forgotten it. Ack, and I didn't save the email that it came in. D'oh! But hey, some new info on Winona Ryder's new movie "Lost Souls" at Darkhorizons. Both ALIENS and ALIEN make the bestseller DVD list at Chapters.ca. I expect the same type of rankings at Amazon, Cdnow....

June 8th
Thanks to The Digital Bits, and Jon. As they state:
As some of you may know, the Alien DVD may not play on cetain Toshiba players, specifically the 3108. Apparently, this is a problem with the player itself, and not the disc. The basic issue is that the 3108 has problems recognizing hybrid DVD discs - that is, DVD discs with both DVD Video and DVD-ROM data encoded on them. This is true of Alien in The Alien Legacy box set - it is the only disc of the four with ROM content. There is apparently a firmware upgrade available from Toshiba that will fix this problem, for those of you who are experiencing it. Contact Toshiba's consumer electronics Customer Support service at 1-800-631-3811, or e-mail them at customer_support@tacp.com, to make arrangements for the repair of the problem on your player. You will have to either send your player back to them, or take it to a local authorized service center, to get the repair done. I gave the phone number a call earlier, and confirmed that they WILL be able to help you out.

Also, from Jon:
I got an email from reel.com, (where I bought my Alien Legacy DVD) saying that Fox shipped some sets without the free dvd certificate, and about the 3108 player. It gave a phone number to call for the certificate, and said that fox is currently talking to Toshiba about the incompatibility issue. It gave a email address for information about the incompatible dvd.

Star Wars, Episode I made more more money in its first 3 days then Alien Resurrection made in its entire domestic run. :-D hehe.

June 7th
Updated a few spots on the DVD Legacy page, including Easter Eggs, and Legacy documentary info. AND a some info on a possible incompatible DVD player, As Paul mentions:
Amazon.com has reported that there may be some problems viewing some of the DVD discs, specifically on the 3108 model Toshiba DVD player.

Some legacy making-of-info; (the full version is here) "The ALIEN Legacy making of Alien is a very good extra. The documentary runs a little over an hour long, and basically is one big start-to-finish overview of how the first movie came to be. Interviews are conducted with the major crew members (no cast), notably Dan O'Bannon, Ridley Scott, and H.R. Giger. There are scenes....."
[More ALIEN news later!]

June 6th
The ALIEN LEGACY DVD section is setup, it includes all the info that I could remember about the set. :-) Some updates will be added tomorrow to it, I hope. :-) The title picture *will* change, it is currently stealing bandwidth from FOX. I am in desperate need of more server space on my university account, I'll have fixed that (I hope!) by mid-sunday. :-) Also, the background image is from fox...but hey.. it looked cool. :-)

Brian passed on this info about the 'upcoming' ALIEN companion book. I'll let him explain :
Just a quick note, the May 1999 version of 'Books In Print' lists "The Complete Alien Companion" by Paul Sammon as having a publication date of 10/2000! Though an Executive Editor at HarperPrism told me back in December (12/29/98 to be exact), that, "There's been some long delays in the author's delivery of the manuscript. We should have a complete manuscript early next year and will most likely try to schedule the publication for late 1999." Right now, I would be inclined to believe BIP made a misprint and it should read 10/1999, as October 2000 is a long way off to plan for a publication. Hopefully the next edition of BIP will show what is up.
[Big thanks to Brian!]

June 5th
Okay, maybe FOX should hire me (I'd work for free, honest) to check the accuracy of the DVD's. On the BACK of the ALIEN 4 Dvd case, it lists "co-starring...J.E. Greeman..." WOW! I didn't know that J.E. FREEMAN changed his last name! :-) The spellchecker should be fired on that one.
Another quickie: On the back of the ALIEN 3 DVD (and the VHS 1998 release) it mentions that All the people on Fironia 161 are Ex-cons...well...I think that ALL of them are still prisoners; only Clemons and the Superintendent (and 85?) are non-convicts / ex-cons. Someone wish to clarify?

June 5th
Yet another Error on the LEGACY DVD set? As Ivan observed: The "Aliens" disk says 136 minutes, where in the package it says 154 minutes. A big mistake that can confuse anyone, but not to fear, it is indeed the longer version. Yeesh! Silly FOX! I'll make the DVD legacy page later today and it'll have all the DVD info...including all these errors! :-)

June 4th
More errors / boo-boos on the DVD inlay booklets. On the ALIEN Resurrection booklet, they have a small bio of every character; While the writeup for Dominque Pinon (Vriess) and J.E. Freeman mixed up. And I think the picture given for J.E. Freeman is that of Purvis, not his character, Dr. Wren! How could they mess that up?!? And of all the other actors and actresses (Kim Flowers, Gary Dourdan) they chose to give a pic and bio of Joss Whedon!
Also, on the ALIEN 3 inlay they have no picture for Paul McGann (Golic). Don't worry Paul, we all still think you were great. (at least I do!) It seems that someone who was rather unfamilier with the Alien series did the editing for the info cards....:-)

June 3rd
Another quick update... TODAY on Entertainment Tonight they are featuring that ALIEN 20th anniversary festiva, and should be showing a few pics of the stars and interviews. They also (in the preview) had a clip of ALIEN behind the scenes, which I assume is taken from the ALIEN DVD. Enjoy!

Cinescape reports that Ridley Scott might take the helms of the "Silence of the Lambs" sequel. More about it on their site. :-)

June 3rd
Some guys get all the luck. The Head dude over at The Digitalbits attended the "screening" of ALIEN (for the 20th anniversary) with the cast & crew. Wanna see what Sigourney Weaver looks like as a blonde? Howzabout John Hurt wearing a cool suit? See the pictures & writeup Here. Very, very cool pictures. So, FOX, I'm an unofficial ALIEN promotor...can you give me some free tickets next time? hehe...I wish... Thanks to Jon for passing the URL along...

Remember to lend a hand and vote for the ALIEN Movies Resource Page (the page you are all readying ;-) at Worldcharts. I think this page is tied for the longest running webpage with 4 others? Cool. :-) So just click here to vote!

If any Canadian (I don't know if this store exists in the US) head on over to your local Future Shop, or some places that matches advertised prices...the ALIEN LEGACY DVD set is only $80 CDN. (about $54US) and the VHS box set is $40 CDN I think. One HELL of a deal...20% lower then HMV, for example. Heck, that price is lower than any on-line seller!

June 2nd
alienscollection.com has had a whole ream of updates lately, including
OFFICIAL ALIEN Movies sites!
Alien Legacy, ALIEN, ALIENS, Alien 3, and Alien Resurrection. So maybe FOX is putting an effort behind these movies after all. Nice design too, much better then the old(?) official Alien Resurrection site. :-)

Cool! Cinefex has a website, and now, (a bit to late?) Starlog magazine has a website! :-)

Also at Aliens Collection.com, movie mesh links :), AvsP posters, DVD extra listings, smart shopping [sorry, it was funny to see on an ALIEN page...hehe], model pics, motion tracker shots, Alien Resurrection Statues, More DVD smart shopping (hehe), action figures, AvsP coin operated game, garage kits, prop replicas, Colonial Marine Armor, AvsP hint book, and more picture and collector listings than you can shake a sharp stick at. Huge thanks to Willie.

June 2nd
Updated that 'SOS' error from June 1st (its in italics. :-) Another possible error: On the ALIEN 3 inlay card, it lists David Fincher has an upcoming movie 'Rendezvous with Rama' with a release of 1999. Well, as far as I checked this movie has not yet begun filming; and won't be released until 2000 or so. Fincher's *actual* upcoming 1999 movie is "The Fight Club" starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter. How the Alien 3 inlay dude miss that?

June 1st
Okay! Here is the scoop about the DVD set! I'll have a much more complete listing of information if someone Mails me it...(I don't have a DVD player! :-)

* All the movies (ALIEN (Special Edition), ALIENS : Special Edition, ALIEN 3, and ALIEN RESURRECTION) are released as individual DVD's.

* All the movies are inside a special Box-Set, which also includes 9 collector cards, which are in the ALIEN Resurrection DVD case. Note: I think the info on the back of a few cards is somewhat Incorrect. One card mentions that the Nostromo set down on LV-426 because of an SOS, I thought it was a distress / warning. I guess I was wrong! [Scott clarifies:]

An SOS and a distress signal are the same thing, and that is essentially why the Nostromo set down on LV-426. If we want to be picky, the REAL reason they set down was to investigate 'an acoustical beacon that repeats at intervals of 12 seconds'. Kane asked if it was an SOS, and Dallas said 'unknown'. Ripley didn't start to find out it was a warning until she ran it through ECIU once Dallas, Lambert and Kane had already left to investigate the derelict.
Another card says that everyone had to shave their heads in ALIEN 3 due to a lice *infection*. No...It was a lice infestation / problem. I guess it could be an infection in one context... but nice cards anyway. Interesting too, the 1st card AV1 has a picture ofthe Alien- door buster poster. :-D

* The 9 collector cards in the DVD set are basically promo's (numbered AV1 to AV9) to the Inkworks ALIEN LEGACY Card set. They feature some standard shots (high quality though) from the movies; with some basic info on the back.

* The "Alien Legacy: The Making of Alien DVD" is avaible with the coupon inside the DVD box-set. You must send this coupon, original receipt, and $1.75US (for US residents) and $4.75CDN for canucks.

* The ALIEN LEGACY VHS Video box set is also availible. This is a larger box and contains *5* tapes, all four movies AND the "Alien Legacy: The making of ALIEN LEGACY" (I think that is the title) video documentary..

* ALIEN Special Edition & ALIENS Special Edition are also availible on VHS video, in widescreen format, seperatly. Alien Resurrection is also in Widescreen VHS.

* ALIEN Resurrection is FINALLY Availible in Widescreen VHS and Pan & Scan.

And that just about does it! So FOX really milked the fans dry when they released the widescreen editions a few years ago. The VHS tapes won't contain the other extras that the DVD's have, such as the audio commentary, more 'making of' stuff...be warned! :-) And now all that can be asked of FOX is to release an ALIEN 3 directors cut! Ahhh, the fans are never happy. :-) If I screwed up any of this information, please tell me! :-)

Haunter has this interesting note: I just went down to the local best buy and they had the legacy dvd set out.....for $39.99 (US). Seems someone mistagged the dvd set with the vhs price, so i got it for 50.00 off. They went and changed the price afterwards I think but it's worth checking to see if other best buys are screwing up like this. [So if you get it for $40 at Best Buy, thanks to Haunter! :-)

May 31st
I'm gonna quickly whip up a page on the ALIEN LEGACY DVD content & stuff... Thanks to The.avatar and foxfire: From DVDresource.com (completly swiped from this great page.....:

Alien Easter Eggs [Note: An 'Easter Egg' in techie terms is like a 'hidden' goodie within the program...]
Like much of what is in my house, I freely admit that the Easter Eggs page is getting dusty. But for those of you who have (or will have) Alien (the first one) spinning in your DVD player, check out these three eggs, sitting, waiting to open, with face-hugger inside...
Egg 1: At the main menu, go left on EXTRA FEATURES and see DVD Production Credits
Egg 2: After this, go right on SCENE SELECTIONS and see the Nostromo Crew Bios
Egg 3: Go to the EXTRA FEATURES menu and press down until the hole in the floor is highlighted. There you will see Kane's "transmission" of the Alien life cycle.
Thanks to Brian Oreskov and Robert Lowe for their submissions!

And naturally, there are different options as to where to get that ALIEN LEGACY DVD set. So far, the Cheapest place to buy the Alien Legacy DVD Box Set (as of may 25th) was 800.com at a price of - $59.94 (includes shipping), and Reel.com at a price - $62.94 (w/DVDTALK1 coupon includes shipping). Actually, Reel.com has a banner for the movies, which I'll post later. It is all black, on the far right hand side is the reel.com symbol, and on the far left are silvery type facehugger 'fingers'. The Set is also ready at CDnow and Amazon.com I can only vouch for CDnow and Amazon...they've never failed me in the past! And CDNow has a large sale, and you should be able to get FREE SHIPPING in the states...good idea to take use of it... :-)
And as The.avatar mentioned: 800.com has been known to screw some customers over on shipping and other things with DVD's that's why I preferred not ordering with them... so be warned! :-)

AND, it seems that the VHS set will be released to. So the set will be released in:
DVD (4) set, + mailaway 5th DVD.
VHS 5 pack set AND
WIDESCREEN VHS 5 pack set.
There is not a PAL version at that time, but I expect it is forthcoming soon.

And remember to check out Sharpline Arts, for not only the DVD 'making-of' documentary of ALIEN, (Direct Link) but also upcoming releases of the 'making-of' "The Last Starfighter" (remember that flick?) and more. :-)

Weyland Yutani posted some MP3 music clips of some 'unreleased' score form ALIEN; from Jerry Goldsmiths soundtrack for the movie 'Freud.' Listen to it! (I'd also recommend getting your hands on the bootleg score to ALIEN, much more complete and listenable. :-)

The newest Starlog magzine, with STAR WARS (what else?) on the cover, has not only reams of adds for various Star Wars goodies, but an advert for the "Sci-Fi Pinball" by FOX, and the ad features a great shot of an ALIEN sorta 'coming at you', full body, great detail. Good advert! The tagline is ....something-something-something breed. (hehe, sorry, it was a quick peek.) Check it out.

And what do ya know, FOX now has a desktop theme of ALIEN to go along with the screensaver. :-) Thanks to MP for mentioning that.

More later!

May 29th
Ack! A Midterm exam in under 9 hours! And I have to sleep! Aaaaaahhhh...but on to the news:
The current Entertainment Weekly has a little blurb and cartoon on the ALIEN LEGACY DVD box set (thanks to Willie), also check your local papers as the 'Calgary Herald' had a nice article on the upcoming dvd set (mostly on ALIEN though.)

Well! Fox got around and updated their site:
alien-movies.com, which has a nice ALIENesque theme! That should get some people interested. Cool pics, to. Naturally, the official Alien 4 site has not been updated for a year and a half; as well as all the other alien official pages only bounce to the FOX page. Maybe something more is planned in the future? Come'on FOX, don't quit now! :-)

And give a surf over to The Astronomy Picture of the Day, it sorta reminds me of ALIEN 3 when the sun breaks over Firoina 161. :-) (Cool site too, a different space related pic every day!)

May 28th
Thanks to Paul for passing on this link. The Upcoming ALIEN 20th anniversary DVD supplemental (making of documentary) was made by the folks at Sharpline Arts. They have made a fance page for the upcoming release, you can visit it (and it has a cool logo too!) by clicking here!

Hello! I haven't bugged ya'll in quite some time, so please if you could -all- lend me a vote at Worldcharts that would be fantastic. All ya gotta do is Click Here to vote. It is that simple! Currently, this page is ranked in 58th spot! (Its been moving up! But I need your help!!)

Ivan has some news on a way to WIN the ALIEN LEGACY set:

This Sunday, May 30th, at The Digital Bits, they will be giving away a free copy of the "Alien Legacy" Box set. But wait, here's what you have to do.
    1)-Go to the site. [Easy!]
2)-Go to the DVD Discussion section [Simple!]
3)-Go to General Home Theater Discussion [A Snap!]
Once there, get to the live chat where you'll be chatting with David Fein. He was involved with the transfer of "Aliens: Special Edition" [Nathan's note: And from what I understand, he is quite the ALIENS fan as well] on Laserdisk and now he was involved with the DVD version as well, he's the co-producer of the DVD.
The time for chatting will be Sunday night at the following time: -9pm US Eastern time   -8pm US Central time   -7pm US Pacific time
The winner of the copy of the "Alien Legacy" will be selected by a lucky number. ie) the 15th person to register.

    Thanks again to Ivan!

I'll try and add a *wee* bit more news later today. Thanks for dropping by!

May 27th
Over at Weyland Yutani this bit of info was posted; That FOX has released a computer pinball game, called Sci-Fi Pinball. Aliens and Predator are used within...just surf on over to Weyland Yutani to check it out. :-)

The Digitalbits.com has put up their ALIEN 3 review today. It looks like there will be MINIMAL extra's, including the 'making of ALIEN 3' which is the same one that was released for the 1992 box set! Silly Fox. And no new trailers, no special edition...but great sound and picture quality. :-) Anyway, read that review. :-)

May 26th
Do you want to know who FOX had approached to do the ALIENS vs PREDATOR movie waaaaay back when? Well, I'm glad they didn't make the movie with these fellas at the helm! Just read this article on Alien 4 and AvsP from early 1994!

I have 3 more interviews / ALIENS articles from waaaay back when just about complete. I have a Midterm Exam on Saturday so my time is sorta crunched. :-)

May 25th
I'm getting off my ass and actually posting those interviews today. But for now, some *very* important news; thanks to Foxfire for passing it along;

(taken from dvdresource.com)

    The Alien Legacy Box Set
Here are the details about the special fifth disc to the Alien Legacy Box Set. The DVD is titled The Alien Legacy: The Making of Alien. If you buy the four-disc box set, a special post-card with the details is included. The disc will cost you $1.75 for shipping and handling if you are in the United States. It costs $4.75 if you are in Canada. [Nathan's Note: OUCH! I guess FOX never learned the meaning of EXCHANGE RATES!..but anyway...] The disc is not available outside of the U.S. or Canada. The offer is good from June 1 to September 1, 1999, or "while supplies last."

And you have to send in the special post-card and your original dated sales receipt. All this for a documentary that should have been included with the Alien disc (hey, two-disc packages are not all that uncommon.) Dammit FOX! I mean, I'll GET the DVD set, but why the hell the "limited" extra? That is almost promoting a bootleg market for all the Europeans. Oh well. [Again, thanks to FF!]

May 25th
HAPPY 20th Aniversary, ALIEN!
I think that title says it all. As of today, ALIEN is 20 years, 1 day old. :-) Lets go for another 20! (thanks Scott!)

The Joss Whedon Interview was finished, but I messed up on the html conversion...so I'll do it by hand. Later today, folks.

The Digital Bits will be posting its ALIEN 3 DVD review tonight, lets hope it is as stellar as their reviews for ALIEN and ALIENS (see post a few days ago.)

May 24th
New Reference (from Star Trek : Generations), thanks Jon, and a new Alien 4 review, thanks to Andreas. I'll add a few articles today too. more news to come!

May 21th
I finally saw the new Star Wars flick. I was impressed! These special effects will last longer than the original 1977 film! The best I have *ever* seen. Great sound, music, effects....I had just a few qualms with the movie, and only one complaint about the 'overall' picture....but 2 thumbs up from me. Go see it!

More News Later!

May 20th
Only 13 more hours until I see THE PHANTOM MENACE. I can't wait! :-)

Alienscollection.com has another review of the E3 expo in L.A. More descriptions on the gameplay, Aliens vs Predator game, and of course ALIEN Resurrection. Also, the site has been updating with more picture goodies of all those alien rareities.

Stomper's ALIEN FAN site now has some handy Alien, Aliens UK and Aliens US spectrum tap and z80 files on my site. If ya want 'em, you can get 'em. :-)

Pissed with the 'ol Screensaver at Fox? Well, here is a bit 'o news about its "rotating" scheme:

    4/23/99 - 5/5/99 Alien
    5/6/99 - 5/18/99 Alien, Aliens
    5/19/99 - 5/31/99 Alien, Aliens, Alien 3
6/1/99 - should rotate through all 4 films (in celebration of the Legacy release date)
So, it won't *just* cycle through ALIEN for the rest of its life. Thanks to Chuck for the newsgroup posting. (he's "in" the know!) :-)

And fellas! If you email me, English is my first language! I can read a good chunk of French, but hey, emailing me in English is a very good idea. (And yes, I do get emails written in foreign languages. :) Actually, a good free translator is right babelfish.

May 19th
Thanks to all of you who have voted for this page on Worldcharts! Just take a second and Vote! Thanks. :-)

As y'all know, the DVD set is going on sale...and for all you Canadians out there (come'on, where are ya'll), check out Chapters (Canada), as they have some downright amazing deals...including NO SHIPPING until may 31st. On Any order. Start racking up those ALIEN purchases! Whew, it pays to be a canuck sometimes. :-) (Go maple leafs! woo!) Oh, and email me if ya wanna save another 10 bucks on any order.... ;-)

My mind is Star Wars lately, and I'll be in line to see the new flick 2morrow. I found a few more oldish ALIENS-esque articles, I'll see if I can stick to my word and actually PUT them on the webpage when I say. (Sunday?) I'll give it a shot.

May 18th
1 more day until the Phantom Menace! (woo!)

Crescent managed to attend a very cool event; The Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. (Ack! Crescent, ya lucky dog! :-) Here is his report:

I was at the EEE in Los Angeles during last week and had a chance to play the Alien Resurection game for the Playstation. I was very impressed by the game, it runs extremely smoothly and the characters and environments are detailed. The Sigourney Weaver model is excellent and should give Lara Croft a run for her money. They had a few levels available for demo, one of which had you retrieving a data disc and shutting off sentry guns. The only thing I can say that is a little weak right now is that shooting the soldiers and aliens didn't feel satisfying yet. If they get that tightened up it should really be worth the wait.

Another Reference, from Dimitri; from the game 'Warhammer.'

Whoa! So I try to update on Saturday but the email system really went down! Oh well. But here is what I have on this computer; my 'other computer' ALIEN info I'll stick on tonight.

A Trailer to ALIEN 3's director David Fincher's new movie "The Fight Club" will be airing before the New Star Wars movie, from what I understand. The movie stars Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter. Now *that* is great exposure for the movie!

Remember to all take a look at the ALIENS Fan Club, for the latest information on the "CONVENTION" 1999...an upcoming meeting of ALIENS fans and actual actors / actresses! Give it a visit, for all the info on the October 10th extravaganza. :-)

St Just just passed on some great ALIEN References, from Notting Hill (upcoming Hugh Grant, Julie Roberts flick); Legion (Exorcist 3 book), and the TV show '2 guys, a girl, and a pizza place', and National Geographic. (No kidding!) Great stuff!

Foxfire found some goodies hidden away at Laserviews, in regards to the DVD special features onto the ALIEN special edition laserdisc. In addition to the features already announced:
Alien:Spec.Ed (DVD/LBX/AC3/THX/1979)
Deleted scenes, Isolated music score, including previously unreleased music
Isolated alternate music reflecting music changes made in post production, and production audio featuring raw audio recorded on set, including alternate dialogue;
Storyboards,TV spots (!!), DVD-ROM: Screensaver. COOL! It looks like FOX isn't gonna mess up this release! :-)

May 15th
Okie! When I was doing the updates on Thursday the uni server shut off. Damn! But I do have 2 alien 4 reviews, and a few old starlog interviews going up I hope today. I have some work though that takes a bit of a precedence. But I'll put 'em up today. And more references too. Stay tooned.

A&E had a Sci-fi special 2 hour show, hosted by Mark Hammil (Luke Skywalker), and there was a model of an ALIEN in the room where he was yakking. They also had some nice clips of ALIEN, ALIENS (looked like a trailer), as well as interviews (quick ones) with Sigourney Weaver (during '86, making of ALIENS laserdisc footage I think) and James Cameron (circa 'The Abyss' years.) They also had new interviews (when this show was new) of Veronica Cartwright (Lambert in ALIEN). This was first aired 6 months or so ago. Actually, I think it was aired about a year ago.

May 13th
Well, I got me some tickets to the Star Wars premiere. I suggest that if you want tickets on opening day, you go RIGHT NOW to your theatre. I'm actually seeing it the day after with a bunch of friends. Hey, this isn't ALIEN related, but if ya wanna see it, get your tickets NOW. Opening day is practically sold out where I am! (and some theatres here are showing it all (24 hours) day!

And from Ivan, According to the Images Games Network site, in their PSX (Playstation) site, the "Alien Resurrection" Game has been pushed back, once again, to a fall 1999 release. Also, not to mentioned that Games Dealers has it for a July 15th release. At this point, the Games Dealer date is more reliable than the IGN information, not because the date seems better (as in closer) but because they have a better connection with Fox Interactive.

And from The Aliens vs. Predator network, they have posted that the AvsP game was finished yesterday. North American residents should see poster and floor standee for the game on Electronic's Boutique as early as May 25th, and the game will be out on May 27th...so far.

AliensCollection.com has posted some new spots of ALIEN news: including that the magazine "Sci-Fi Entertainment" has an issue coming up mentioning the 20th anniversary of "Alien." I'd expect numerous magazines to have articles and specials on this anniversary.

May 12th
Wow, I've been slacking on updating the page. My real life takes big-time priority over the virtual world. So hang tight & stay frosty. I'm planning on spending a few hours on thursday to add a whole whack of goodies. I'll also put up a few sections that have gone AWOL since my uni space is so tiny....they'll be relocated. My goal thursday is to add 2 articles, 1 interview, 2 alien 4 reviews, update the links section, and add a whole whack of trivia on the series that I've been stashing away. So keep your fingers crossed and lets see if I can do it. :-)

May 11th
Okie! I've decided that if there is no news for a few days, I'll update the site with an interview, pictures, or a section will have more juice pumped into it. Upcoming updates include an 'ALIENS' music update, with pics from the bootleg. :-) And I really do have several interviews / articles typed up from old Magazines during ALIENS era...I just have to update them! (I'm lazy when it comes to that.)

Dark Horizons has some new pictures from ALIEN Director Ridley Scott's upcoming movie; "Gladiator." Check 'em out. Also, Dark Horizons has some news on ALIENS director James Cameron's upcoming production 'Mars'. And hey, here is a quote from Kevin Eastman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles creator) on his upcoming movie "Heavy Metal 2" :

"I always wanted to create a heroic adventure with a female star thriving in a backdrop that would combine the desperation of Road Warrior, the intensity of Aliens, the visual feel of Blade Runner, and the magnitude of Akira Kurosawa's Ran. It's intensely violent, very fast-moving, very fast-paced".

Affiliate Aliens vs Predator Network had a quick update. Give it a peek. :-)

Cathy mentioned that over at reel.com you can pre-order the ALIEN Legacy set for $65.99, that's 40% off. Not to shabby! Amazon.com has their set listed at $65.99 as well (they matched prices). You can pre-order the Amazon set by clicking here. Thanks!

The 'ol webpage here has passed 70,000 visits. Cool. :) Stupid stat of the day: The visits to this page are a 94% increase from last years. And YES, I do have all of the emails sent to me regarding updates, stories...I just can't post them right now. I WILL however, be posting some of the DVD screen menu's within a few days.

May 7th
The new trailer to the movie 'Lake Placid' is out. Now, the trailer sorta bites....it looks like a cross between Anaconda and a national park documentary. :-) Well, the trailer is just bad! But, this is ALIENS related; it does contain music from ALIENS. Same track as always, the one where, you know, the climatic building music (which I forget the track name of.) Digital Domain (Cameron's Co) and Stan Winston (ALIENS Creatures) are helping to make this SURE HIT! (yeah, right.)

Yeah! The screensaver for the ALIEN Legacy Box set was fixed a few days ago. Fire up those engines and start downloading! Thanks to Ty for the info. Just surf on over to Fox Home and grab it!

Do I have to remind you?!? Please take a few seconds and vote for the 'ALIEN Movies Resource Page' at worldcharts. I'll make it blunt...if ya'll don't vote, this page is off the list! It's sitting at 98th spot! Lets get that higher...please? :) Just click here to vote! Thank you all.

I have not been able to access my email for about a day. Stupid University server. So hang tight for more news & email responses. :-)

May 5th
I've been extremely busy for the past week+..barely any time to even read my email for the webpage. Sorry folks! But on to the news:

OKAY! EMERGENCY All personnel must evacuate immediatly. Well, not really...butthe ranking at WorldCharts has taken a serious dive! The "ALIEN Movies Resource Page" is now at 98th spot (out of 100. I mean, holy crap! So I need everyone, all of ya, just the one time visitors or the every day guests...to VOTE for this page! It would be great to stay on longer...I'm at 57 weeks already, tied for 1st with only 6 other sites. So Com'on, vote! You won't regret it! :-)

From Ivan:
The Fox Home website (http://www.foxhome.com) has a download of an Alien Legacy screensaver. I've tried to download it so many times but I think the there is a mistake with the file in the website.

It's not the ALIEN 5 script....unless you are a pervert. But feel free to read this Story....who writes this kind of stuff????

Anyone want a sealed ALIEN 1979 board game? Don't know what it is? Well, surf over to Brian Pesti's ALIEN site and take a quick peek. And if you're still in the mood to buy a sealed one, just email Mike and tell him so! :-)

Ever heard of the 'ALIENS FAN CLUB'? It is based in the UK and is a non-profit making club, and has members all around the world This club has been runing for around eight months. They are also hosting Aliens Convention '99 "a weekend celebration of the Aliens films." The Convention will feature Europe's largest original props and costumes display, Alien RPGs, dealers area, film shows and talks for several actors and special effects people from the four films. The event will be helping to raise money for the Imperial Cancer Research Campaign. The website (not totally complete) is at aliensfanclub.co.uk, and feel free to email them at Simon.

Some tidbits from Kaminski: the music from that unreleased bootleg Aliens resembles some of Horners other works. The "Marine Montage" sounds strikingly similar to Horners work on Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Kahn, and that last tune on the Realplayer Soundtrack Cinema thing that is in the movie when Newt and Ripley go into hpersleep, and when Ripley rescues Newt or whenever it is used sound VERY similar to Horners score to Cocoon.

New Reference, from Sluggy Freelance! Thanks to Philo! :-)

I now have a Ric Olie Star Wars figure...so Ralph Brown has stared in the most successful science fiction series of all time. Way to go, Ralph! :)

May 3rd
ALIEN 3's '85' has his own figure! Well Sorta. :) As most of you know, Ralph Brown played the character of '85' (or Aaron) in ALIEN 3. He has also landed a role as 'Ric Olie' in STAR WARS Episode I, The Phantom Menace. And whattdoya know, he now has a figure released of his starwars likeness. :) So pick up Ric for ALIEN 3!

Check out the main page of Weyland Yutani Special Weapons Division for a nice wee ALIEN / Starwars spoof...

More news later once I read my weekend e-mail!

April 30th
RS passed along this link at MrShowbiz that some of you may not remember. It was an interview with Sigourney Weaver, to do with the possible Alien 5, and was done in March of '96! (A year and a half before ALIEN Resurrection was released. :) Just Click Here to read it! :)

Folks, if anyone of you wants to email me, that is great, but please provide a VALID return email address...I don't like to guess!

Sean passed along some 'game' info on the "upcoming" (hehe) release of the ALIEN Resurrection Playstation game. Here is his great summary....thanks Ivan! :)

I'm unhappy to inform you that the "Alien Resurrection" Game wasn't released yesterday. Here's is the thing, Fox Interactive (I'm assuming) is 'testing' the game, any thing wrong with it can result in not a week, not a month, but a whole year season delay.

    Yeah, let's recapture the delays ok--spring 1998--August 1998--fall 1998--winter 1999--March 1999--spring 1999--now summer 1999.
Now, let's look at sites around the web and their release dates...
    Games Online-March 1999
Playstation-none listed, but were wrong about dates before.
    Videogames-spring 1999
Argonaut-Fall 1998 (!!..and this is the company that's making the game)
    Images Games Network-Spring 1999
    Games Dealer-May 15, 1999
    Fox Interactive-summer 1999

You can get a look at the game's cover at gamesdealer.com; do an Alien Resurrection game search, click on the link, and you can find the image.

And take a peek at the Fox Home website. It has a link to download an 'Alien Legacy Screensaver.' One thing though; there is a mistake with the file on the website. Just so you are all aware. :-) Much thanks to Ivan!

April 29th
Whoa! Major slow point for some news coming my way. Oh well! You can always check out Alienscollection.com for some updates, collectable style, or Aliens vs Predator Network for some info, AvsP game style, or go to Weyland Yutani for some new sound files! And you can watch a clip of IWERKS's (grammatically correct?) ALIENS "Ride at the speed of Fright" (ahh! ahhh!) Interactive ride. (sorta like Star Tours, I'd imagine.) Anyway check out the site for loads of exclusives.

And hey, a few more references came floating my way. Thanks to Cory H. for the Front Line Assembly one, and Nootch for the Newsradio ditty. :)

And some information for y'all that see the 'ALIEN' uncut scenes (/ exclusive scenes / never seen before sceens / rare scenes / blah blah) version up for auction and sale at Ebay.. It is NOT an exclusive tape, by any means. It is just the ALIEN special edition footage from the Laserdisc. That's it. However, to get it into VHS format, the pirate-dude just spliced these scenes within the course of the movie at the right spots. Be warned!

Worldcharts. Please Vote! (Thanks to everyone who has voted already too! :-)

The ALIEN Resurrection playstation game was listed as being released yesterday...any reviews? Comments?

April 27th
Here is a message I got today, for a ALIENS CONVENTION to be held later this year in Shepperton (UK.) The message says it all, please read it through!

------------------------------------
Well this is it.....Simon Clarke of The Aliens Fan Club has confirmed that they are organising the Aliens Convention '99, which is to be held in Shepperton (where Alien was filmed over 20 years ago), in the UK. The following is taken from the information that came with the May edition of the club's Newsletter 'Facehugger.'

Anyway please feel free to post this message (in its original form please) around the Aliens/Sci-Fi forums.

ALIENS CONVENTION '99!
We are currently organising an Aliens Convention later this year - probably to be held in October. We are provisionally looking at a two day event, held over a weekend, at the Shepperton Moat House Hotel (venue subject to confirmation). This is the event that fans have been screaming for, and we have some great things in the pipeline.

Firstly, we have several special guests who have expressed an interest in attending (subject to work commitments) including Terry English (Aliens and Alien3 Armourer), Clive Mantle (Alien3 Actor), Ralph Brown (Alien3 Actor), Gary Gillies (Alien War Creator), Jeanette Goldstein (Aliens' "Vasquez"), Lee Brimmicombe-Wood (Aliens Technical Manual Author) and several special effects experts.

There will also be a large display of original props and costumes, Aliens Role Playing Games, Video Room and a large dealers area selling the most mouth watering Aliens Related merchandise and collectables on the planet. The last time we organised an event like this, way back in 1993, nearly six hundred fans turned up!

In order to plan this event properly, and in order to finance the up- front costs of such a project, including having to pay for the venue in advance, we are asking fans to pre-book their places. This will cost just £6 per person, and will ensure your place at what we expect to be a very popular event indeed. You have our complete guarantee that should for any reason the event not go ahead, your money will be repaid in full.

Please don't miss your chance to be at THE event for all true Aliens fans everywhere - Just CLICK HERE and fill out the form! :)

April 26th
Okay, no update last weekend...I was busy and didn't really read my email much. :-D I'll respond to ya'll today I hope.

No big news, but more ALIENS vs PREDATOR ads are popping up. Just surf on over to AvsP.net for more on that, and make sure you check out the newly revamped and re-located 'Doug's ALIEN Website for more ALIEN info.

And althought I was thinking of developing my own 'games' pages, I thought I'd just pass on a link to W-Y Special Weapons Division: ALIENS for a great summary of the ALIEN series games, from console to computer. Also, the site has posted a new movie file from the IWERKS 'ride at the speed of fright' ALIENS ride, a sound file from the ride...and more. Just surf on over there to check it all out. :)

Worldcharts is really hating this page lately. The 'ALIEN Movies Resource Page' has been on the list for over 56 weeks, (tied for 6th place all time) but took a major drop down to 83rd spot! So I need ya'll to vote for this page! Please & Thanks! :)

More news later I hope. :)

April 23rd
Don't forget Worldcharts! This page has been slipping a bit lately...we gotta reverse that trend! :) So Click Here to Vote! Thanks! :-)

April 22nd
Well, I finished my final exams today. Lets hope for some 'A's! :) Here is a post by 'toyevents@aol.com' about meeting Gorman (Lieutenant Gorman from ALIENS, William Hope) at some convention. It was posted in the ALIEN newsgroup.

MEET Lieutenant Gorman at UK event 25th July
Please would you add the following information to your news, or add a link to our site, we would be happy to do the same in return. Our web address is: www.eventsinc.demon.co.uk.
So ya'll UK'ers must attend and get me an autograph! :-)

So, ya'll heard that music that was unreleased from ALIENS? Well, I guess now there is a nice bootleg soundtrack that contains a 'full' recording of the ALIENS music, by James Horner. Even the producers voice makes it on the tracks! :-)
At Ebay listed a copy that sold at an inflated $103! If you want it for a third of the price, just try Screen Archives, 'cause they have it I think.
The Tracklisting:
1. Main Title (5.07)
2. Bad Dreams (1.22)*
3. Dark Discovery (1.53)
4. Arrival at LV-426 (2.03)*
5. Preparing for the Drop (3.25)**
6. First Checking (1.31)*
7. Atmosphere Station (3.09)
8. This Place is Dead (2.02)*
9. The Unknown (1.10)*
10. We Have a Job To Do (6.34)*
11. Ripley's Rescue (3.14)
12. Burke did it (4.22)*

14. Newt is Taken/Elevator (2.01)*
15. Going after Newt (3.13)
16. Sub-level 3 (6.33)
17. Bishop's Countdown (2.46)
18. The Bitch (1.50)*
19. Resolution and Hyperspace (6.21)
* = previously unreleased
** = not used in film

I'll try to get a copy of it. :) Anybody got a CD-R? Cost sharing, people! :-D

Try this site for a laugh; Alien Five to see a wee film...well, on ALIEN 5. :) Good job to the makers!

I'm gonna post the ads for ALIENS vs PREDATOR (the game) hopefully later today, but Dwayne Hicks passed on notice of another ad for the upcoming action adventure :
In "Sci-Fi Entertainment" (the April issue with Patrick Stewart on it) it starts as one page which is all black with the exception of green writing and a skull the writing says "The two deadliest species in the universe are about to meet" It then open to a two-page ad with some bitchin' screen-shots. [cool!...hey, I betcha those guys at the Aliens Vs Predator network have the ad scanned already.... ;)

April 20th
Ah, what the hey, I'll update again today. :) Remember to visit AvsP network to find some great new funky screenshots (love the pic of the week) for the upcoming ALIENS vs PREDATOR game. New reviews there as well...they all point to ALIENS vs PREDATOR being quite a kick-assets game.

There is also a great advertisment for the new game in a magazine that eludes me... (gaming magazine, starwars on the cover, with a bluish chick, like the one from return of the jedi that gets eaten by the Rancor.). ANYWAY, the add has an ALIEN playing the computer (not facing 'us'), and an PREDATOR above the computer, stabbin' the ALIEN with its ..umm..sharp stick. Alien acid everywhere. The advert is for a computer company, saying that 'Aliens vs Predator' will run on these machines...' or something to that effect. Great Ad, take a look at it if your in a computer magazine section. :)

Hey! A Poll! I was gonna put one up but then I took a trip to the newly revamped The Ultimate Alien and they had one up... it is on the 'best ALIEN movie related webpage.' And hey, it's an honor for the ALIEN Movies Resource Page to be nominated. :) So start piling in your votes for this page...I mean, the most deserving webpage. :-D (Those pesky Aliens Vs Predator fans seem to be taking it though...hehe

Thanks to The.avatar for passing this along! : David Twohy wrote a rejected script of ALIEN 3, and now it seems that he can't get the series out his head. :) Well, according to Corona's latest scoop on Pitch Black, Twohy's latest effort is a bit similar to ALIENS... just read it to find out. Remember, don't beleive everything you read though... :)

April 20th
Hello! Thanks to Willie for passing this along.
Do ya wanna see lots of screen captures from the upcoming ALIENS vs PREDATOR game? Just go to 'Aint it Coaxial News' by Clicking here. Looks great!

And while Sigourney Weaver makes a few appearances in the latest PREMIERE magazine, so does Charles S. Dutton, better known as DILLON in Alien 3. He's in a few pics with Liv Tyler in Robert Altmans' new arty flick. :)

Cinescape online had some news on Sigourney Weavers upcoming film "Galaxy Quest." It is a comedy and she should have fun with her "signature" persona and genre. So far the news is that they're aiming for a December 1999 release date. Thanks to D.O. for passing along the Cinescape info!: [Here it is, sorta cut up. :) ]

    'Galaxy Quest' Prod. Start
Principal photography began today on DreamWorks' science fiction comedy adventure Galaxy Quest, starring Tim Allen (Home Improvement), Sigourney Weaver (Alien) and Alan Rickman (Die Hard). Galaxy Quest follows the adventures of five people who, for four years, donned their uniforms and set out on thrilling and often dangerous missions in space -- until the series was canceled. Twenty years later, the five stars of the classic '70s series Galaxy Quest are still in costume, making appearances at science fiction conventions for die-hard fans -- but some of those fans are a little more far-out than the actors could ever have imagined. A group of aliens who have mistaken the television transmissions for "historical documents" arrive at a convention and whisk them into space to help the aliens in their all-too-real war against a deadly adversary. Stan Winston (ALIENS) will handle the animatronics and creature effects.

Whoops! I forgot to add an update yesterday....I guess that one has been lost in the ether. :) More stuff later!

April 17th
Hello! :) Take a surf over to Alienscollection.com to read about some great new pics and other updates....including the 'making' of another section in its vast archives, a 'media' area. Give it a well deserved Visit!

Also, Weyland Yutani Special Weapons Division: ALIENS has had an update, including a .ra (real audio) file of UNRELEASED / CUT ALIENS MUSIC by James Horner. A 25 minute suite! A *huge* thanks to MP, and his parachute. ;-) So give them a Visit! :)

Don't forget the Wonderful World of Worldcharts, just Click Here to vote for this page. Thank you very much! :)

More news tomorrow. :)

April 15th

April 14th
Thanks to Willie for the head's up!
Soundtrack Cinema will be broadcasting UNRELEASED music from James Horner's score of ALIENS. You heard right! Just go to Ain't It Cool News for the information. If ANYONE can record this, please, please, please mail me the file and I'll post it for all to listen to. Go Here to access the site site where you can nab it! (Sci-fi spectaculars section (right hand side of screen.)

April 13th
Remember to vote for this page at Worldcharts! Just take a second out of your day :) and click here to vote. Thanks!

Sigourney Weaver (and ALIEN 3) make 2 appearances in the latest PREMIERE magazine (the star wars special issue.) First, there is a small column on "shaved heads" and that they usually represent either the Future or Badasses. I thought that fit Alien 3 quite nicely. :) They also had a picture of her in the upcoming movie "Company Man" with a quick writeup.

I was reminded by SSgtXander of the fan created "Aliens O'Fortuna Video" which is a neeto "trailer" that was done in quicktime using numerous shots of the film. Just go to Aliens.Mov (click on it.) Its a big download, watch out!

Jay Z posted in the Alien Newsgroup a few days ago about a NEW Alien 5 article: It is in the April 1999 issue of the Official Playstation Magazine. (April 1999 Volume 2 Issue 7 Page 63). Here is what it said:

"As of this writing, it was recently announced that early plans are already being laid for the next 'Alien' film, which will apparently be co-written by Sigourney Weaver herself. With 'Alien Resurrection' (the game) expected to released around the time of the 20th anniversary of the original film's release, it looks like this series has plenty of acidic blood still pulsing through it."
I'd actually make this just a big rumour. Notice they used the word 'apparently'? Apparently, they don't know what is going on. :)

More News tomorrow, I'm in a big rush today! I hope this tides you all over. :) I have tonnes of email to repsond to, sorry for the delay! I have EVERYTHING everyone has sent in, no need to resend it. If I don't get back to you in several days, THEN mail me again! :) Thanks.

April 11th
Well, yesterday I was in Edmonton (3 hour drive north from where I am) at a smallish Starwars Convention (and the sight of Edmonton, West Ed.Mall) and Warwick Davis was there! He was 'Willow', 'Wicket' and will play several other characters in the upcoming Starwars Prequel. How cool is that?!?! He was also very nice, so I got him to sign a few Willow items. :) Made my day. But back to ALIEN news....

Ok, So you all know the unofficial ALIEN 5 site isn't dead, but the server is on the fritz (upgrades) so it will be back on-line soon. So don't ya'll fret. Just click here to visit the currently non-existant site. :)

April 6th
Not a heckofalotta ALIEN news lately...if there is anything you want to contribute / add / send in / comment / whatever, just send me an e-mail and tell me what is on your mind. :) I'd like to make this site more "reader contributed" if that makes sense. :)

More ALIEN References, from R-Type, corrected the Mad About You reference, (thanks Olsen!), Bantha Fodder (thanks Scott!), Jay Leno (thanks St Just!)

As Brian has noticed: K-B toys is having a nice blowout of ALIEN Resurrection Toys. The ALIEN Warrior figure was snatched for only $3.99...great deal. Locally, the Newbown is always discounted... because it sucks. :) But keep your eyes open for great deals on Alien 4 merchandise. :)

The.Avatar and The Dvd File report that The "5th disc" full of extra's for the LEGACY dvd box set is a mail away. It will also be only Region 1 encoded (meaning only playable in N. America). (Don't know if that will change for all European fans!)
Also, ONLY (so far) Alien will have an isolated movie score (meaning you play it just like an audio cd on your dvd player).

Woo! The ALIEN Movies Resource Page moved up a bit at Worldcharts. Thanks to all who voted! I'll bug you all for more votes a little later in the week. :) thanks again. :)

April 3rd
Okay, mega quick update; I'll give proper credit later (huge rush right now) but Thanks for the email from The.Avatar and the newsgroup posting from Ty Conner. Oh, by the way, here is the cover of the ALIEN legacy box set! :
I'll provide a full link to a larger image just a little later today! Sorry for the rushed post..... :)

Hey! Even I can get hate mail sometimes. They all make for funny reads, in any case. I got a good chuckle, and maybe you will too! Click Here to read it. hehe. I won't do this again probably, but this guy needs to be checked into an institution. :)

Damn! I forgot to add an update yesterday...that will have to wait until Monday (for reasons beyond my control.) But that is for mondays news...for now, Ivan sent me this clip. He references several sites, so I'm just gonna copy the whole thing. (Thanks Ivan! :)

If you go to the Games Dealer Website and do a search on the "Alien Resurrection" game, you'll find a picture of the cover of the game for the Playstation version only. It's also posted that the release date is on April 28th, it's only weeks away. Also, I have to thank the AliensCollection.com webpage for the link, and the AvsP website [A great site!] who also have a picture of the game design cover as well.

Cinescape has some 'insider news' on what Sigourney Weaver's next film will be; Click Here to access it directly. (within the April 1st news.) The scoop is that "Weaver will play an actress who was in the TV sci-fi series that prompted alien beings to come to our planet for help." This is a Tim Allen starrer.

Since this page has slipped a bit at Worldcharts, it is sorta vital that I remind you all to vote! It only takes a second, and com'on, do you really need a reason not to vote for *the* longest running website on the entire 'best homepage' list? (52 weeks and counting! (Tied in 1st place with only 3 other sites!. So lets kick some ALIEN Butt! Please vote. :)
Also on the page is the the ALIEN Collectors Homeworld, so make sure you all give vote for this ALIEN page too! :)

And not only has AvP Network updated (with some great new pics) but so has Alienscollection.com. Some great tidbits, including a picture of an official 20th anniversary collectable. :) Also mentioned there was that GameFan has posted the "trailer" for the Aliens vs Predator game. Check 'em out! :) [and thanks to all the visitors to this page! I appreciate y'all. :) ]

April 2nd
I hope y'all liked the april fools thing...I almost forgot to do it this year. :)

The page will be down for a few hours in the morning (North America time) but will be back up soon. The University server is re-booting or something.

Thanks to The.Avatar, here is an OFFICIAL Fox press release about the LEGACY box set, For now just Click Here to go to the direct link, I'll post the entire message 2morrow. :)

I hope you all have a great good-friday! (Happy Easter!) :)

April 1st
A good whack of news tidbits today, including one I didn't expect:
The LEGACY DVD set has been DELAYED indefintaly, according to a FOX press release. The reason being? James Cameron did *not* approve of ALIENS release! He supervised the Laserdisc transfer himself, and intended that to be the only official release of the SE. So, ALIENS is awaiting Cameron's approval. The new release will likley occur in early 2000. The VHS Special Edition releases have been canned as well (for now.)

In an Interview on Canadian Television here (yes, tv does exist in the Great White North) Sigourney Weaver has indicated that ALIEN 5 will be written by her. Remember, she did insist that there be no weapons in ALIEN 3, and she had full script approval of ALIEN Resurrection....now she will Executive Produce, Write, Script, and likely have a strong hand in directing the film. I'm glad I caught the right channel and taped it! (Just in time!)

Rumour du jour: A few entertainment sites have mentioned this, and it looks like that ALIENS vs PREDATOR is getting a 2nd chance. In fact, they have already pre-cast the characters, and ya' won't believe who they got for the lead female role...I hope all of you are fans of Winona Ryder....just Click Here to read the FULL story. :)

Also, remember to do your duty and Click Here for some more updates. :)

March 30th
Thanks to The.Avatar: Fox Home Entertainment has finally issued the press release for the Alien Legacy DVD set, and there's been some concern about what exactly you get by purchasing the box set, as opposed to just buying the discs individually. The box will contain a series of collector's cards, as well as a mail-in offer for a special documentary, commemorating the 20th Anniversary of Alien. You send in the coupon, and get back a 5th DVD disc, containing the documentary.

And here are a few tidbits from The Digital Bits 'bout the disc:

I've read some concerns that the documentary should have included on the Alien disc itself, but there are very good reasons why this wasn't possible. The primary reason, is that there are a tremendous amount of extras that will be included on the disc. And we have to remember that there is only so much space on even a dual-layered DVD. The film itself is 117 minutes long, and the desire was to keep the bitrate fairly high to ensure quality. The new documentary, that will come on the 5th disc, is well over an hour in length. In order to have included both on the same DVD, most of the other extras (deleted scenes, commentary, etc...) would have been sacrificed. By moving it to a 5th disc, that freed up a tremendous amount of space on the Alien disc, which is being put to very good use. And by making the documentary available by mail in the box set, the idea was to give those who went to the expense of purchasing it, something extra for their money. There will be more than enough stuff on the idea was to give those who went to the expense of purchasing it, something extra for their money. There will be more than enough stuff on the Alien disc to satisfy, believe me. We'll be posting a full and detailed list of the Alien DVD extras as soon as they're finalized (the film is currently undergoing MPEG-2 compression)

A review for the script of the upcoming movie directed by David Fincher (ALIEN 3) is ready and waiting at Dark horizons! Check it out. :) The movie is due out in July I think.

Som'more Legacy set DVD news, from DVD Review. Most of it is known, this just shows that the 'extra' tape / dvd will likely just be included in the box-set. Here is the press release:

In Space No One Can Hear You Scream!
In 1979 movie posters across the world heralded this unforgettably erie tagline, and thus one of Hollywood's most acclaimed and terrifying sci-fi sagas was quite literally born...ALIEN.
Beginning June 1, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment celebrates the 20th anniversary of this classic adventure by releasing breathaking digitally mastered editions of the original "Alien" movie and each of the three action-packed sequels for the first time ever on DVD. Loaded with one-of-a-kind extra, highlights of this historic anniversary celebration are:
    * The creation of an all-new behind-the-scenes documentary about the original of ALIEN and the legacy it launched (available as part of a special multi-pack on DVD)
    * Released for the first time ever, the exciting SPECIAL EDITION of "Alien" debuts, featuring 17-minutes of deleted footage. [Nathan's Note : This is FALSE! Laserdisc, anyone? PAL format release, anyone? Looks like a FOX PR ref didn't do thier homework! :) Unless they mean DVD... hehe]
    * · This DVD promotion feature bonus-never-before-released footage, cast and crew biographies, interactive menus, the original theatrical trailers and much more.
    * · All great "Alien" DVDs are available in widscreen.

March 29th
Chris D has some info to pass along: Space: The Imagination Station (in Canada) will be airing Alien and Aliens back to back this Saturday. The program is called Space Bar which is similar to TBS's Movie Lounge where a couple space people talk about the movie between breaks. The last time ALIENS was aired it was the 'tv' special edition with about 7-9 minutes of added scenes.

Chris D also is the base commander of SERENA DAWN SPACEPORT, which has just aquired nearly a hundred new images, mostly from Aliens. So make sure you all give it a nice visit. :)

Well, the movie ALIENS won the last AMRP poll vote quite easily, taking about 75% of the 150+ votes tallied. The 'Special Edition' has 50% of the vote. Interestingly, ALIEN and ALIEN 3 had about the same amount of votes, and ALIEN 4 naturally came in last. :) A new poll will be up in a few days.

Here is a website that I don't believe I've mentioned. It is the newly revised Sir Ian Holm (ASH in ALIEN) Website: The Bittersweet Hereafter Give it a peek.

Not much news today, I'll update 2morrow with a few more references and news tidbits. :) Enjoy!

March 27th
Please click here to vote for this page at Worldcharts! For some reason, this page got lots of votes last week, but dropped in standings. Crazy! Lets make it allll right. ;) Keep on Voting. Much thanks!

Well, it looks like the rumour ALIEN 5 site is just down for a moment, not for all time. The discussion board is still active though, for all of you who want to post to it....All you have to do is Click Here to get to the Discussion board! So y'all can voice your opinion. :) Thanks to DO!

As Cathy reports; Raymond Cruz (Distephano in ALIEN Resurrection) will appear in next week's episode of Deep Space 9. (You know, the Star Trek show). So keep an eye out for him! :)

Some info on another ALIEN 3 cut scene, the 'lice on the head' one. Yuck. Just go over to the Cut Scenes section, head down to the ALIEN 3 area...and give it a look. Can't get more of an official confirmation than that! :) Much thanks to Kevin.

More html clean-ups! The music sections, and some people area's got a tiny editing change. More info will be added to them very soon I hope. :) Thanks for visiting! :)

March 26th
I've updated the ALIEN Music section, with information on the bootleg CD score of the film; also a tracklisting! The Tracklisting is quite handy, as the tracklisting on the CD is nonexistent. A very warm thanks to Moritz for making this possible. :)

I also cleaned up the HTML of that page, I mean, it was really bad. It should be much easier to read now. :)

March 26th
All the 'old news' pages will be off-line for a few days; I need the room on my university account! But don't worry, they'll be back shortly. (I mean, I'm sure you all have read the old-news areas, ha ha.

March 23rd
Doug's ALIEN Page has gone through an update; it has a very nice revamped design and a very clean layout. All you have to do is Click here to go to DAW!

Alienscollection.com has a few modeling & toy updates...make sure to give it a visit!

The URL's I listed in yesterdays wee update may be been incorrect for the newsgroups: try 'em now, one of them might work. :) ( I typed them in from memory...sorry!)

March 22nd
It seems that an earlier update I made never saved to this page. D'oh! So here is the jist of it : Remember those DVD interfaces that I mentioned earlier? For the Upcoming Legacy Box-Set? Well, why not check them out yourself! Several newsgroups have had a large zip file full of the images. And, if they are the same ones I saw, have all the background info on the Characters of ALIEN (that show up behind Ripley during the Inquest scene in ALIENS) as well as the general interface menus for ALIENS and ALIEN 3...and more goodies. ;) So check out the newsgroups alt.video.dvd and of course, Alt.Cult-movies.alien for more. Great! :)

March 20th
I've had a quick peek at some of the interface designs for the new ALIEN Legacy DVD box-set, and they are great! This thing is really well done. And for all you trivia buffs; we'll learn A LOT more on ...well...I'll leave that until the release date! :) But I'll continue to pass along anything I learn from the DVD's on this page. :) More news later.

The Main page should be even quicker to load; I eliminated several non-essential images, and cleaned a bunch of html (and even some errors! ;) More to come!

I'll try to get around to posting the old interviews on the page...but I'll be extremely busy this weekend so ya just might have to wait. And thanks to the kind folks at AVSP.net this site not only had its most successful day in hits (a huge 437) but is also in the midst of its most successful week; so far at 1627 visits. Yikes. So please fill out the above poll! :)

And please VOTE for this page at Worldcharts! :) Thanks.

Remember to visit Alienscollection.com to sneak some *great* pictures of the 'ALIEN 20th anniversary' Zippo lighters. Woo! Also, on the new issue of PREVIEWS they have a pic of the reissued MPC model kit of the ALIEN! The full scoop is just a click away to Alienscollection.com Thanks to Willie!

March 19th
Here is a ditty from Chris2...I don't know if it is true (I gotta check) But here goes: In the first alien movie the scene where they take off Kane's helmet and show the facehugger around Kane's head you can hear a whirring noise which matches a sound you here in The Empire Strikes Back where Luke is fighting Darth Vader and at cloud city! [Nathan's Note : Hey, even if it isn't true, I had to mention starwars eventually. :) Didn't the same guy do the sound for both Empire and Alien? I can't recall...] Also, you'll notice in ALIENS that several sound affects have been re-used in other movies, computer games and things. Cool trivia. ;)

There is a new ALIEN e-mail list around...maybe the only ALIEN e-mail list? If you want to join, just go to the Website and get the scoop. (Digest mod is availible too! woo!)

It seems that the "Unofficial Alien 5" site is down.... Click Here to visit the non-existant site. :) That site mostly posted rumours for the new movie...and had not been updated in a while anyway.

Quick Note: This website will be down for a few hours on the morning of March 19th, in fact; all pages on the university server will be down. Ack, just a few hours pause..sorry for the inconvenience! :)

March 18th
It can't get any more official than this. Take a visit to the *very* newly updated FOX's DVD "Coming Soon" section. Odd though that ALIEN 3 and Alien Resurrection are on the same line...maybe indicating that they will not have the 'special edition' treatment, like ALIEN and ALIENS will. :) Thanks The.Avatar. :) And FOX!

Got the first ALIEN Movies Resource Page webpoll...its just up above, please submit your vote! :) More news later today. :)

March 17th
I cleaned up the Main page just a little, it should be quicker loading and just plain nicer to look at. :) The counter also passed 60,000 hits! Woo-hoo!

Thanks to The.Avatar for passing this along:
"Glendale, California (March 17, 1999) In 1992, FoxVideo released the benchmark Special Edition Laser Disc of Ridley Scott's ALIEN, for which Sharpline Arts' extensive supplemental presentation set a standard for the medium. Since then, Sharpline Arts has been called upon to preserve and enhance the gems of the Fox catalog, its staff having produced distinguished Laser Disc special editions for ALIENS, THE ABYSS, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and THE KING AND I, and best-selling soundtrack albums for THE STAR WARS TRILOGY SPECIAL EDITION. Now, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will celebrate the 20th anniversary of ALIEN with the DVD debut of all four films in the series and a VHS Collector's Set, to be released this summer, and they have again turned to Sharpline Arts for the supplemental programming. This time, the rare outtakes, photographs, and behind-the-scenes footage presented on the Laser Disc have been incorporated into a comprehensive 68-minute documentary on the making of ALIEN, produced by David C. Fein and directed by Michael Matessino. New interviews and additional never-before-seen material will be featured, and the DVD will contain a running commentary with director Ridley Scott and many more exclusive surprises. Like its Laser Disc predecessor, ALIEN on DVD is poised to set a new standard for the format, and is certain to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year."
Click Here to access the press release. Thanks to Avatar! :) (and thanks to Sharpline Arts, they'll do a great job! :)

Ok, I'm a few days early, but can ya'll lend a hand at Worldcharts? The ALIEN Movies Resource Page is only 2 spots away from being at its' all time high! Lets set the record! :) Please just take a quick second to Click Here The ALIEN Collectors Homeworld is also on this list to Vote for!

And thanks to Aliens Vs Predator.net for making me an affiliate, so they are an affliliate now with the AMRP. Affiliate...Gotta love that word!

March 16th
Very cool info from The.Avatar & The Digital Bits (copied word-for-word so I don't get blamed for writing it... ;)
OK, this doesn't come from official studio sources, or anyone officially connected to their DVD work, and I don't expect it to be confirmed by Fox. But a generally reliable source has suggested to me that Fox may be considering including the new trailer for The Phantom Menace on one of their forthcoming DVD titles, as an added inducement to purchase. The most obvious choice would be the Alien Legacy box set (given its higher price), but that's only a guess. Keep in mind, that this is very tentative, but it was interesting enough that I wanted to mention it, while I work to check its validity, Stay tuned...
And, as The.Avatar pointed out, there are only 2 starwars trailers, and will be only 2 star wars trailers. (and TV adverts, but that's different.) I believe this would be a wise choice, this probably would be on Alien: Resurrection since it lacks the DVD extras. However, LUCAS is the 'man' behind Star Wars, and I think he would have to give his OK before anything. Cool if it happened though! :)

March 16th
Joshua passed this along: (more info at the IMDB.com ;
Bill Paxton is set to star in U-571, a WWII drama about a submarine on a risky mission. Fellow stars are Jon Bon Jovi, Harvey Keitel, and Matthew McConaughey.

More ALIEN References, from Everybody Loves Raymond, and another music entry. Thanks to St Just and Stefan.

March 15th
New ALIEN Reference, from "Analyze This" (the new movie), and The Guyver, thanks to St Just.

There was a posting that both Winona Ryder and Sigourney Weaver had signed for ALIEN 5. This was posted in The WAVE in the Entertainment section. Thanks to MACacd for the newsgroup posting! It mentioned that Sigourney Weaver is to get $18 million and Ryder $11 million to reprise thier roles. Now, this is in all likely hood a bowl of CRAP, so don't believe it one bit. Imagine, $29 million dollars of the movie on salary alone! Ouch.

Well, I ended up not typing in the old interviews, as I was busy with friends, enjoying the weather, and watching videos. :) Highly productive weekend, honest.

Here is some cool ALIENS vs PREDATOR news, courtesy of those great folks at Aliens vs Predator net!
Sales for Aliens Vs Predator for the PC has gone gold and is expected to be in stores in the US and Canada late April (around 20th-24th), and shortly after then everywhere else (probably early-mid May). We're all very excited over here about this game ;) So visit the site and take a look into the game! :)

More news later. :)

March 13th
The.Avatar passed along another ALIEN LEGACY dvd info URL, this time at Laserviews. Click on the above link to go to it! :) The SRP of the box-set is about $110, so it seems that it will be cheaper to get the Box-set than buying them individually... if seperatly they cost less than $28...which they are. $10 savings if ya'll get the box-set! :)

March 13th
Woo-hoo! The.Avatar passed these URL's along, one is a general review on the old ALIEN collectors laserdisc (and info, which will likely be the same + much more on the DVD) and the 'Logo' of the ALIEN Legacy box set. :)
The Legacy Logo,
ALIEN Review.

March 12th
I almost forgot to beg all of to to VOTE for this page at Worldcharts. I figure that one large boost of votes will push this page to its all-time record! (The current mark is at 33rd spot overall). Please just Click Here to vote! :) Thank you all very much! :)
Also, Vote for the ALIEN Collectors Homeworld too! :)

I finally got the 'Making of Alien 3' promo tape, the 20 minute long one that was offered as a promo when ya' bought the ALIEN/ALIENS/ALIEN 3 triple pack back in '93. Very cool, I'll try to grab some quotes from it. :)

March 12th
As we *all* know, there are only 67 more days left until the new STAR WARS movie. :) But how many until the ALIEN LEGACY Box set release? Well, don't look at that calendery, just check out Doug's ALIEN Webpage for a handy counter to count down the days.

Great interview of Charles de Lauzirika with The Digital Bits. He talks a LOT about the upcoming ALIEN LEGACY DVD set (a few cool tidbits are mentioned!) Just Click Here to read it! (Thanks to Rob M. for posting the URL on the newsgroup too!)

A quick excerpt
....Ridley wanted a DVD that pushed the envelope in terms of concept and design [...] we wanted to get as much supplemental material on the disc as possible...

DVD-Rom? Supplement info? Ridley Scott commentary track? The Scoop is there! :) And even better, remember the 'graininess' of some portions of the ALIENS SE laserdisc? Well, it is getting a high-definition transfer...maybe this will correct it? So, I'd assume James Cameron gave the go-ahead (and supervised?) this as well, a la his laserdisc release. Again, thanks to The Digital Bits.

March 12th
Added a reference from 'Picket Fences' thanks to Josh H. and the ALIEN newsgroup.

A new link is now availible on the Main page, to the "ALIEN Timeline, a quick, comprehensive outline to the generally accepted time occurance in the ALIEN series. Even gives sources! So give it a Visit! Thanks to Scott Middlebrook. :) Credit to him!

March 10th
Voting for the box-set really is done, the Green set won!

March 10th
You know, I've had that 'coming soon' link up for months now, but I haven't really acted on it. As Jean Claude Van Damn once said "There is never enough time"; I just have to get down and do it. But my life doesn't revolve around a computer! :) But really, I'll try to get it all done. Maybe on Friday I'll type in 3 old ALIENS articles from some old mags....I also have an "ALIEN 4" article from 1995 I think, and an interview with Joss Whedon.

There was an '80's weekend on Muchmusic, so they only show videos from the '80s that weekend. (duh.) Anyway, for one video that I completely forget, they had the "chestburster bursting beind shirt" gag....you know, where you have one had pumping your shirt out like a chestburster. Funny, really. (I think it was a Cyndi Lauper Video!)

I've cleaned up a few pages...and to all of those who have sent me LINKS to add to the LINKS page, I have *not* forgotten, I'm going to go through the 100+ webpage emails over the weekend and update that page then. :)

Winona Ryder's new movie "Lost Souls" (which I think has had a name change) now has a movie poster, see it at Dark Horizons, in the news section (yesterdays!). Ryder played 'Call' in ALIEN 4, for those of ya that don't know.

Last Months 'Sci Fi Universe' and another scifi mag, the affiliate to the scifi channel in the US, both ranked ALIEN and ALIENS in the top 100 science fiction films of all time. Way to go!

I guess now voting is back up for the box sets, I was mistaken when I said it wasn't. (Well, the pop-up sure wasn't pop-uping for me!). Thanks to MS for sending me the ALIEN LEGACY pop-up URL. So if you haven't voted...VOTE! :)

I'll add some references to the site later I hope! :)

March 9th
I'll try to have an ALIEN update later today....but for now:

This box won the voting, with over 4200 votes tallied. The final results (thanks to The.Avatar :)
Silver Embossed Alien - 31%
Green Metallic Alien Nest [Above] - 68%
So we can all expect to see this one in stores on June 1st (I hope! :)

March 9th
Wow! The "ALIEN Movies Resource Page", (the one you are all reading right now) just had it's most succesfull day ever, in terms of visits, at 350! That broke the previous record by almost 40%! Okay, okay, so that wasn't ALIEN related...but it does make ya wonder what caused that bump in visits.

As of right now, the dawn of March the 9th, FOX sites no longer have that ALIEN box-set choosing pop-up window. Odd, no? If that means that the FAN'S voting counted, then the GREEN "egg" box-set won. :)

March 8th
I think I may have been posting an incorrect URL for the Aliens vs Predator webpage, for the upcoming game. Whoopsie! The real address is http://www.avsp.net, click there to visit the #1 site on ALIENS vs PREDATOR (and get that ALIENS-perspective demo for the game while you're there!)

March 8th
I managed to get the ALIENS 20th Anniversary Calender yesterday for free! :) But, I am dissapointed. Instead of a full picture for each month, there is a smaller picture surrounded by a really LOUD orangey pattern. Ug. So don't believe the back of the calender, as they just show the pictures! And the date numbers are friggin' small and hard to read from a distance. Picky, picky....

Here is a note from Robmc1: (For all of those with ALIEN 4 on tape): "Check out the end of Alien Resurrection when the AURIGA crashes into either Africa or North America I'm not to sure (although the novel says it's outback Australia)...anyway when the ship crashes the earth cgi image is back to front like a mirror image.
Sounds like an blooper!

There was some ALIEN stuff on TV over the weekend. As Willie reports: The (U.S.) Discovery Channel's M3 (kids version of Movie Magic) just had a segment on the making of Alien Resurrection...check for repeats!

Also, my sister noticed that on "The Learning Channel" They also had a segment on the making of ALIEN, which had shots of the ALIEN costume and the guy inside. (At one point the suit sips some tea...at which point my sister stopped watching.) And it wasn't caught on tape...d'oh! This may have also been shown at some time on The Discovery Channel as well.

Thanks for all of youz who have voted for the ALIEN pages at Worldcharts, the "ALIEN Movies Resource Page" is now stationed at 42nd spot overall. Only 9 away from the all-time record! (and only 3 weeks away from a full year on the top 100!) So please keep on voting for this page, and click here to vote for the ALIEN Collectors Homeworld. Thanks to all who have voted so far! :)

Stanley Kubrick died on Sunday. He was a major influence in Science Fiction films, as his direction in the movie '2001 : A Space Odyssey' illustrates. He also directed the classic 'Spartacus', The Shining, Lolita, Dr. Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket, Barry Lyndon, and A Clockwork Orange. His upcoming Tom Cruise - Nicole Kidman movie 'Eyes Wide Shut' (which had a shooting period of something like 1 and a half YEARS) is due for release in June. He will be missed in the film world.

Some new Upcoming TV shows have a wee ALIEN influence in 'em. They include James Cameron's "Dark Angel," and Joss Whedon's "Angel," which I believe is a Buffy spin-off.

The BOX-SET vote at 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has the SILVER box at 34%, and the GREEN box at 65%. Wait a sec...where did that 1% go? ;) Ballot Stuffing, I tell ya. :) This is after 4118 votes.

ALIEN LEGACY BOX SETS - 20th Anniversary of ALIEN

THE BOX SETS! And *ALIEN FANS* can choose which design they are going to be! Just click on over to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and wait for the pop-up...and this is one po-up that you will WANT to see!
These are also the VHS releases, by the look of it, and notice 5 videos? So, that would be all 4 movies and an extra...mabye all the extras that will be on the DVD release? We shall soon see. ;) [I prefer the silver box set, same as The.Avatar, who passed along this awesome scoop! Thanks!]

Alienscollection.com has some funny news regarding a promotional tactic that will be used for the upcoming ALIENS vs PREDATOR game. I didn't know the game would be that scary! I'll post the news later, but for now you can read it at Alienscollection.com (news area.) Thanks to Willie!

There are still *2* ALIEN pages at Worldcharts...please help keep them on the list! Please take a second to vote for this page (the ALIEN Movies Resource Page), and click here to vote for the ALIEN Collectors Homeworld :)

I clea ned up the news section, moving all of November 98 to December 98 into a new Old News section. That cut was about 80K! All news! :)

March 4th
As reported by Alienres99 on the ALIEN newsgroup (thanks), The playstation version of the "ALIEN Resurrection" game has a release date of June 25th. The Computer version should be out at this time as well...FOX is really loading up on the ALIEN releases!

Thanks to Ivan for the next batch 'o info: Interestingly, the offical Playstation site has in its 'upcoming release' section that the game will be release this month (March). Fox e-mailed me saying that it'll be in the spring. Maybe different formats have different dates?

Ivan reports: In the widescreen version of "Alien Resurrection", the behind the scenes featurette is different that the other three movies and the video has the trailer 2.

March 2nd
The ALIENS viewpoint of the "Aliens Vs Predator" game demo series is now out. It should be on all the AvsP sites fairly soon! try Avsp.net...(or even http://avp.telefragged.com/ and also http://cheatmagic.questgate.net. The URLS are from memory...sorry if they aren't the right ones! I can't check them right now.)

Remember to check out Ebay for loads of ALIEN related goodies that are on sale. Just remember, when you see the bidder 'becoming-x', do NOT bid against him. (wink, wink.) But there are gobs of ALIEN series goodies, just do a seach. But remember, be prepared to pay a LOT for anything! :)

Thanks to Alienscollection.com, for passing on this GREAT info from The Digital Bits....
(Now, normally I'd just link to the info but this is BIG! Thanks & Credit to the Digital Bits!. They got the info first, not me! :) )

".....features on the upcoming Alien Legacy series....[snip]
Alien - THX, 16x9, new film transfer, full-length audio commentary with Ridley Scott, interviews with crew, deleted scenes, original storyboards, production stills, 30 min + behind-the-scenes documentary, booklet with production notes
Aliens - THX, 16x9, new film transfer, director James Cameron's longer director's cut, production artwork from the collections of Cameron, Ron Cobb and Syd Mead, original advertising materials, annotated history, production photographs, interview with Cameron, production notes in booklet
Alien 3 - THX, 16x9, new film transfer, 23 minute behind-the-scenes documentary The Making of Alien 3, interviews with cast and crew, production notes in booklet [Nathan's Note: This is likely the same promotional 'making of alien 3' video that was availible with the 'ol box-set that was released in '92 or '93]
Alien: Resurrection - THX, 16x9, new film transfer, booklet with production notes, 3 minute featurette [Nathan's Note: This is probably that add for the Alien 4 game.]
And that list isn't even complete!!! :)

Walter Hill back to the series? Hill, the producer of the past ALIEN films, has left his latest picture to pursue.....something? This scoop from 'Foxfire' : From what I have read, Hill and the rest of Brandywine should get back together with Fox and work on the Alien5 script. Since Walter Hill walked off the set of Supernova [Nathan's note: This movie has gotten really bad early buzz....as in it sucks, read all about it at Dark Horizons], I wonder what he is up to right now.......(Note: And if you ask me, I think Sigourney Weaver is typing her life away right now, trying to perfect her vision of the ultimate Alien film.......) Stay tuned for more! :) Thanks to Foxfire.

February 26th
Okay! I have now finally seen the ALIENS Special Edition (box set laserdisc) "extras!" They are AMAZING!!! Tonnes of production photos, screeplay excerpts, production notes designs, drawings, cast information, costume, costume tests, model designs, test alien creatures, creature designs, trivia, making of tidbits, James Cameron interviews, pictures, pictures, and even more pictures. A load of stuff...just amazing. Make sure your laserdisc player has a one-frame-advance function... 'cause there are literally HUNDREDS of pictures, 99% of which I had never seen before. Just *great* shots of the entire cast, and behind-the-scenes photos....it really blew me away. (of course, you'll need the out-of-print and very rare laserdisc to see this....shame, really.)

Also, this means another thing: that the 'making-of' parts from the "Movie Magic" TV show (In the Alien References section, and residing on a vhs tape I have ;) ) are *NOT* the same as on the laserdisc. Some small parts are the same (alien mock-up), but information on the 'APC' (how they made it "go"), some model shots, and other aliens related clips they have shown are from some other 'making-of' documentary. It is amazing what they show on TV sometimes. :) "Movie Magic" is aired on the "Discovery Channel" in Canada, I don't know 'bout the States or Europe.

Also, as Gord points out, that FOX (or FOX affiliates) are showing David Finchers next directorial effort after ALIEN 3, "Seven" with Brad Pitt (who also will be staring in Finchers upcoming movie "The Fight Club"), Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Spacey. And, like all violent movies on FOX, it should be hacked to death due to censors. Interestingly, in Canada, the "Showcase" channel, which is part of the cable package (that also includes FOX locally) broadcast "Seven" several weeks ago, completely uncut. Canada rocks. :) (my patriotism was kicking in there... ;)

I'll dig up some news a little later today I hope. :)

February 25th
Well, I pressed the wrong button and deleted most of my emails in my in-box for *all* of february, (CRAP!) but I am quite sure I had responded to them all. About a hundred vanished into deleted-world...so if you don't have a reply from me and are expecting one, please re-mail me! :) Thanks. :) I'll make sure to watch what keys I press next time.

February 24th
As alienscollection.com reports, The DigitalBits rumourmill reports that the upcoming DVD release of the ALIEN series in the enhanced 16x9 format (anamorphic widescreen) and that the discs will be THX-Certified. Since the videos of Alien Resurrection, as well as all the other FOX widescreen (VHS) releases have been THX certified, this would make sense. Mmmmm...aliens SE in THX. Gotta love acronyms. :)

February 23rd
Plenty of News from the Alienscollection.com....
Including: DVD News, MAC users ALIENS vs Predator information and links, screenshots of the AvsP game, Aliens Online Links, and heck, even some Flame Thrower Replica info. Thanks to WG! :)

Also reported by alienscollection.com is that 'ALIENS' creature maker Stan Winston now has an Official Website. Check it out!

February 23rd
Here is some'more info on the CITY TV showing of the ALIEN movies thanks to Kaminski; Tonight on City Tv they are showing both Alien and Aliens at 9, and at 12. The last time City aired Aliens it was the special edition, containing all senrty gun scenes, the news on ripleys daughter and other scenes, which i was fortunate enough to tape. And guess what. I checked the tv guide and it says that is is the extended version. So all you CityTV watches tune in! :)

Yesterday (Monday) on YTV (Canadian Kids channel) they aired the Animaniacs episode "Space Probed" (#15), and this had a great appearance of an ALIEN. The Entire show revolved around the Warners begin abducted by an ALIEN, named Yoda, who spoke with subtitles, and was chasing after them. Hilarious episode & show....I loved the subtitle jokes (for those who saw it, you'd know what I mean. :)

Aliens-Net has put the start of an ALIEN story online. So go on, start to read ALIEN Relevation!

The Aliens vs Predator 'Predator' demo has been out for some time, and soon you can all play the 'ALIEN' demo. Just check out AVSP.net for the scoop. :)

Also, check out GameFan for a complete AVSP review.

New ALIEN Reference, from the show 'Brother's Keeper', thanks to Android.

The upcoming ALIEN series release on DVD will feature a "20th Anniversary" ALIEN. I dunno what that is supposed to include, but it *is* ALIEN's 20th anniversary... (I'm still kicking myself for not picking up the beautiful ALIEN 15th anniversary poster...doh!)
UPDATE It is OFFICIAL!! From Willie, from a message by shawn, FOX has faxed stores, indicating that Alien will be a 20th anniversary edition and ALIENS *will* be the Directors Cut.

And Gene Siskel died. Siskel was the 'thin' half of the 'Siskel and (Roger) Ebert' movie critics...they gave the 'ol 2 thumbs up / down review to zillions of movies over the years. I once read Eberts review on ALIENS...and I couldn't have agreed more. However, they both gave the flick 2 thumbs down when it was first released. They also gave 2 down to Alien Resurrection (but hey, who didn't?)....and they were none to happy with ALIEN 3. But hey, I think he'll be missed. :)

Ridley Scott's (ALIEN director) upcoming film 'Gladiator' is being filmed as we'all speak. Pictures can be found at AICN.com, and the filming is taking place near some ALIEN fans, as Tris reports:
The new ridley scott film Gladiator is being filmed next to where I live and I have visited the set. They have certainly spared no expense with real catapult s and wooden fortresses. Some of my friends are actually in the film and I had the opportunity to audition but could not because of college exam's looming.
Thanks Tris! Actually, I have a big mid-term exam 2morrow, but I'm still seeing Cancerman (William B. Davis) of the X-files tonight, dammit! :)

Gord from Get Infested!! has some news for Canadian ALIEN fans, That today (Tuesday) on CityTV they're showing Alien at 9pm EST, then Aliens at 12:05pm EST. Also, for all y'all North Americans, Superchannel (I think its them) is playing ALIEN Resurrection now.

February 22nd
Ahh, crap! An update that I posted earlier today never got saved. Grrr. I'm gonna hafta do it from memory now, so that will happen 2morrow. Sorry for the delay! (It'll be a larger update though I hope!)

I'm definatly gonna try to type in a whole bunch of ALIEN articles & interviews in magazines that I got stacked up. Stay tuned......feel free to type some in and send them to me as well! I'll take 'em all, no matter how big or small. :)

February 19th
The latest issue of Sci-fi Entertainment (or sci-fi universe, whatever) has some ALIEN info in it: It talks about Vampires and it shows a pic of Lance Henriksen, Jenette Goldstein and Bill Paxton (Hudson, Vasquez & Bishop) in "Near Dark", a film that came out right after ALIENS and starred them all as...vampires. There was also a pic of James Cameron & Arnie. Also, they ranked the "100 greatest sci-fi flicks" and ALIENS ranked #7, ALIEN #9.

Fixed the Weird Al Reference, added an Alpha Flight one, thanks to Mick. :)

Please vote for this page at Worldcharts!
It just takes 1 big second, all ya gotta do is click here to vote! Thanks!

Thanks to Neil, according to The Digital Bits, the release of the ALIEN movie series on DVD has been pushed up a week and now stands at June 1st. (woo!)

February 17th
News From The.Avatar:
You can get the entire Alien Saga (PAL format) in the UK. During a trip to London 'they' had a lot of stock of they Alien Saga in a nice little box set form with all 4 films. The packaging had the egg on the side with a green hue, this could be the packaging for the DVD box set.

The latest issue of NEON magazine (Christian Slater on the front) has some ALIEN relevance:
1. An article on James Cameron and his Future projects...
2. A Page on Ridley Scott and his box office failure / success and his upcoming movie "Gladiator"
3. Ron Perlman in a small picture with Christian Slater in the movie 'The name of the rose"
4. An Insert for a movie-video club in the UK has ALIEN Resurrection for 3.99 pounds.

New ALIEN References, from Time, Star Trek : Voyager, Ninja High School, Uncanny X-men, Bill & Teds Bogus Journey, Weird Al Yankovic, Hot Shots (Thanks to Mick for all those) and a great reference from a tv advertisment for Froot Loops, of all things. Thanks to Xander and Richard for passing that along. :) More references 2morrow I hope.

February 17th
I'm still pathetically sick, so I have not started to respond to emails yet. I'll try and have an update later today. :) *cough*, *sniff*

James Cameron made an appearance on 'Entertainment Tonight to talk about, off all things, Terminator 3d. This is that live action thingy. Anyway, he said a few words, none of which I can remember. :)

A wee description of the upcoming Winona Ryder movie (hey, she was 'Call' in ALIEN 4...that makes it relevant) is here :
It follows the story of a reformed seminary teacher (Winona Ryder) who uses her vast knowledge of Satanic scripture to convince a non-believing attorney (Ben Chaplin) to reverse course before his actions allow Lucifer to walk the Earth in a human body.
Ohhh...scary. It is no longer entitled "Lost Souls", for some reason.

New ALIEN Reference, from Ally McBeal. Thanks to Chestburster for sending it on in. :) It is a DEFINITE reference! Also thanks to Hicks, for also passing along a note. :) Also a correction to the Starship Troopers reference, thanks to Osprey688.

And Attention! Hudson's Ultimate Badass Message Board is in action. You can contribute just by following link above....go on, share your views!

Does anyone want the WIDESCREEN, SPECIAL EDITION of ALIENS on laserdisc? A store locally has had it collecting dust on a shelf for several years I think. It is in original box, the inserts are all there, and the discs look like they are a-ok. If anyone is interested in getting this, get in touch with Me and I'll see what I can do. :) [Mind ya, it does cost a good penny...but cheaper than what you'd think.]

More news later! Also, people may have noticed that I'm responding super-quick to emails lately. I'll keep that up. :)

The "Top 100 SF Film Poll" is complete. This was for the Sci-Fi Channel & Sci-Fi Entertainment Magazine's poll. ALIENS ranked at #7, ALIEN at #9. Way to go!
Click Here for thier ALIEN writeup,

Boldguy noticed this:
While watching TV today on the UK satelite movie channel, Sky Moviemax, I they showed a report on famous Femme Fetales and today the subject of the report was Sigourney Weaver. They did an in-depth look at the Alien saga, with much behind the scenes footage as well as reports on all her other films.
Make sure to watch for repeats!

February 5th
As Dwayne Hicks passed on to me: Veronica Cartwright will be on "The X-files" on Sunday. She has already been on as an Alien abductee....but this Sunday is the start of a 2 parter that explains *the* conspiracy in the series. Maybe she makes a re-appearance??

Charles Dutton (Dillion in Alien 3) will me in the upcoming mini-series show "The 60's." Also, Charles Dance (Clemensin Alien 3) is in the newly released movie "Hillary and Jackie." Check 'em out! :) AND, Mark Rolston (Drake in Aliens) was a great bull-queen in "The Shawshank Redemption" that aired a few weeks ago....

Winona Ryder will appear TODAY on 'the Larry Sanders Show' or whatever it is called. :)

Not much ALIEN news really, its sorta bland in the movie world too. :) But hey, its not my fault, ya can all blame it on FOX. :) Please remember click here to vote for the ALIEN Movies Resource Page at Worldcharts! Almost a year in the top 100...please vote!

February 2nd
As steve in the ALIEN newsgroup posted, some new Alien Resurrection video game information can be found by clicking Here to go to Videogames.com. :)

February 1st
Wow, this current news section is over 100K! I'll see if I can edit it soon. And dammit, the new pictures will be put up whenever. Arg..I hate delays. :)

And FoxFire, a golden oldie in the ALIEN newsworld, passed on a whack of ALIEN news:
For those of you who watched to Golden Globe awards, James Cameron and Suzi Amis were looking happy.
Winona Ryder's film "Lost Souls", is under going a name change, and pictures of the flick are also availible at Dark Horizons if I remember correctly. Also, Winona Ryder can also seen with Angelina Jolie in October within the film "Girl, Interrupted." (Note: The film is supposed to be a female version of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", expect viewings of Alien3 and Alien Resurrection to be used as therapy.....)

I saw a really cool poster last week, it is the "Door" sized poster of an ALIEN warrior, looking like a broke through a door. So if you put it on your door...you get the point, eh? I was gonna pick up this jem (made about the time of ALIENS) until I saw its price...$55 bucks Canadian! Well, if any of ya'll wan't it, I can pick it up for ya.

January 31st
Yes! From The.Avatar, which noticed it on The dvd Review the ALIEN SAGA will be on DVD!

Many of you have long been waiting for this moment. We just got brand new information in regarding some very exciting releases from Fox Home Video. On June 8, Fox will release the complete Alien saga on DVD. Brought to life in 1979 by director Ridley Scott, the Alien series is certainly one of the most influential Alien-SciFi movie franchises in Hollywood.
Each of the series' four films, Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection will be part of the rollout as well as a boxed set containing all four of the films.
"Alien" will be released as a 20th Anniversary Special Edition. The James Cameron directed second installment in the series, "Aliens" will be released in the 154-minute long Director's Cut version.
All films will be presented in their original widescreen aspect ratios, although we do not have information at this point whether the discs will be 16x9 enhanced. Each of the discs will retail at $29.95 while the boxed "Alien Saga" set will carry a suggested retail price of $129.98.

Also, in a 'webpage' related news bit...It looks like the news section will most likely be updated on weekdays rather than weekends...that has been the pattern over the past month. :) Just so you know. :)

More News is coming later! The University system is shutting down for part of a day, so this will likely come around on Monday morning or Tonight. :) Cheers!

Ahhhhh!!! The "ALIEN Movies Resource Page" slipped *10* spots at Worldcharts. I need all of you to lay down a vote for this page! It just takes a second, and I'd *really* appreciate it! Please just click here to vote for the ALIEN Movies Resource Page!

January 29th
All HTML boo-boos will be fixed later! :)
Okay! Lets start off with a tidbit of news from The.Avatar, that I don't believe has been posted on this site. The suggested Retail Price of the upcoming ALIENS SE dvd is 29.98 a pop. And, they just might be put in a box-set with the other ALIEN series flicks.

Som'ore ALIEN References! This has to be the biggest reader-input place of my website. :) The references are from Boldguy for the UK video games TV show 'Game Over', Dwayne Hicks (the real deal!) sent in one from a UPN thingy. I'm going to create a new References area that has just the 'sightings' that deal with the music from the series being used elsewhere. I'll also find a semi-complete list of the movies that use ALIENS tracks in thier trailers.

Ever wanted to play ALIENS! The Board Game? Well, now you can play this out-of-print game for free, with just a bit of downloading and printing. Just Thank 'bishop' lots and Click Here to visit his site. :) Thanks!

The On-Line ALIENS collection as another whack of info ready and waiting for you all. Just visit the site to check it out. As a sampling;
Wynona Ryder action figure from Kenner article, information on the upcoming Dark Horse ALIENS comic book line for 1999
that the Tomart's Action Figure Digest # 60 has some interesting ALIENS vs PREDATOR related news; and a '3 questions with Joss Whedon' interview at Cinescape (I can't beleive I forgot about this one!)
There is also an ALIEN 5 filmed entirely with Kenner toys (thanks to Damon!) Upcoming Comic book info, and a whole whack more.
as always, for ALL the information, just go to the On-Line ALIENS Collection!

Also reported by the Online-Aliens Stash was a new website by the visual futureist Syd Mead. This is VERY cool, he did designwork for "BLADE RUNNER", in what was an amazingly created atmosphere of the year 2019 in Los Angeles. (I want a Spinner. :) So here is the Official Syd Mead website, which (as Wg put it) has "books with Aliens concept and design work!

January 29th
Another update later today. :)
While watching the widescreen edition of the movie 'Strange Days' there was a cool Alien sighting. Since James Cameron wrote and produced the movie, he was interviewed for the 'behind the scenes featurette' that is stuck on the tape (on all widescreen FOX releases.) When they interviewed him, there were 2 things in the background, one was a smallish "Strange Days" poster, and the other was a minature / model of the Powerloader in ALIENS. It actually looked sorta neato. :) "Strange Days" was also directed by Kathryn Bigelow....who was Camerons' wife #2 I think. :)

January 26th
It seems that whenever I said I have pictures to put up, which I upload, something goes wrong. Well, this time nothing went wrong, but I ran outa time. :) Stay tuned. :)

Some great new Alien References, from the great UK correspondent Boldguy. Take a peek at the ones from 'French and Saunders,' 'Clarissa Explains it All,' 'Sky TV,' and 'The Man from Auntie.' Also one more reference from Hicks about 'Starship Troopers.'

Julien (from France)has 3 Thailand posters of Alien, all original, all in mint condition and all very rare. Now, he wants to keep one, and sell the other 2....he wants to sell or trade the other two. He is looking especially for toys, models and this can of stuff. He can also send pictures of the poster if requested / interested. Just email js97@hotmail.com and mention the posters. :)

A new ALIEN site is almost complete, and will be added to the Links section soon...for now just visit ALIEN Race!

'The Shawshank Redemption' movie is on NBC (??) tonight. Mark Rolston (Drake in ALIENS) and Ron Perlman (Johner in ALIEN 4) are in the flick; Rolston is a "Queen" prisoner, and Perlman is just a prisoner. :) Ron Perlman and Micheal Biehn (Hicks in ALIENS) can also be seen in 'The Magnificent Seven' tv show, which has started its second season...episodes are on Saturday, I think. Its a fairly good show too. :) Biehn playes 'Chris Larabee' and Perlman plays.... .the name eludes me, but he is the preacher. :)

SERSEM's Alien picture page has movied, just visit it Here. It has numerous screen-grabs of the flim! :) (And don't forgot to check out Brian Pesti's site and to do the ALIEN trivia. So-far I'm 9 outa 10. The link is in my Links section!

And I haven't asked ya'll to lend a hand and to vote for the ALIEN Movies Resource Page at Worldcharts. Well, now is the Time! Please help out and click here to vote for the ALIEN Movies Resource Page as being a top ALIEN page on the internet.
(and remember to Click Here to vote for the ALIEN Collectors Homeworld :)

January 25th
I'll post a minor update later today....I didn't realize it had been 5 days since the last one. :) I've also uploaded some new pics to the picture sections, BUT I won't put them on-line until later....I can't seem to make thumbnails of all these fellas..and I want to save ya'll 3 hours in downloading. :)

Remember, always visit the ALIEN newsgroup for gobs of Alien info & discussion!

January 20th
I'm having some big troubles in getting anything to work in this stupid html editor, so the next part might look a little choppy.

Get Infested!'s webmaster Gord has this tidbit of an Alien Reference to share:
All this week on Space: The Imagination Station they are having a "Sci-Fi classics Week". Althought it's all old movies and that no 'Alien' movies are in it, the ad does have the "The Aliens Escape" track from Alien: Resurrection as the background music.
As far as I know this is the 1st public non-movie blaring of Frizzels Alien 4 soundtrack.

There is also new References from 'FoxFiles' thanks to Kaminskiw, and from Spawn (issue 10) thanks to Rico Suave...and a terminator 2 clarification, from Android.

Paul Emerson has a bit of zippy info for all you Duke 3d fans:
There is an Aliens Total Conversion called alien_dn.zip, which is 5.5 megs in size for Duke Nukem 3d version 1.3d. The web site you can find this and many more really great total conversions is at: Dukeworld. Thanks Paul!

January 19th
Any blade-runner fans out there? I think this movie is an all-time great...and if you live in the Seattle area, CLICK HERE on some info that was in the blade-runner newsgroup....It would be cool if it's true! :)

ALIEN News coming a little later today...oh, and remember when I have a few stats to this page, including the most asked questions (where/when is the ALIENS special Edition?)...well, that day I got asked it 4 times through email, haha.

January 18th
Well, more rumourish news on the ALIEN front about the timing of the inevitable release of ALIENS : the Special Edition. Brian P, (who put up a great ALIEN Quiz, I suggest ya'll check it out) noticed DVD-monthly had posted this beauty:
.

It has recently come to us (acutally just today) from a source we can trust that the Alien Series will be out in June of 1999 (or possibly earlier), and yes they will be 16:9 enhanced, and yes, kiddies, ***at this point in the game***, Aliens WILL BE THE CAMERON DC! We're not sure why June, as we know at least two of these are pressed (i.e. Alien Res), but the tentative date for the Alien films is 6/8/99.
[The 16:9 enhanced bit just means that it'll be in widescreen. :)]

January 18th
There is a slight delay on email respondings, I'm sorry...I *will* be getting to them as soon as I can 2morrow (After work! :)

The new tv adverts for 'Superchannel' (a specialty movie-only channel) feature a collage of movies, and the one movie that actually got a line of dialouge from was ALIEN Resurrection. And although I saw it half an hour ago, I can't remember that the line was in the add. Doh!

And here is a factiod for trivia enthusiasts: Chris Cunningham worked on ALIEN 3 (in some capacity, I don't know what...I'd imagine he was a David Fincher hire) and recently has been directing music videos. His video for Aphex Twins' "Come to Daddy" won a few very prized awards, and he has done work with Maddona, Placebo, Portishead, Squarepusher, and Autechre. On January 20th he will begin shooting the video for "All is Full of Love" by Bjork. Click Here for more info on this fella.

January 17th
All emails that I've been stockpiling over the last week will be responded to today. :)

And I have now been on the NedStat counter for one full year. And here are some useless statistics on this page : (hey, what else is a counter used for?? :)
44479 hits in one 'nedstat' year (over 50,000 total hits to this page)
275 = most hits in one day (December 4th, 1998)
~255 = 2nd most hits in one day (December 4th, 1997)
~50 = lowest visits in one day (nedstat)

"madcat2" had a few things to post in a few newsgroups, including a "trainer that gives you infinite health in AvP Marine demo."
You can get it at http://avp.telefragged.com/
and also at http://cheatmagic.questgate.net.

The latest PC Gamer (err...the one with the South Park dudes on it) at a full page add for ALIENS vs PREDATOR the game, which was a motion tracker shot with ALIENS (blue indications) on the top and PREDATORS (red indications) on the bottom of the tracker. Very cool! They also had a wee review.

And FOLKS! Pick up the latest VANITY FAIR! It has pictures of the upcoming STARWARS prequels, lightsabers 'n all! (but they do not show a picture of Ralph Brown, who was '85' in ALIEN 3, making this alien-related news. :)

The 'movie-times' has a few more features and goodies availible. It has also changed URLS (a while back), so make sure you visit the Movie Times for a great summary of box-office information of various sorts.

Celia Lim had a good amount of Sigourney Weaver Info to pass along:
She is starring in 2 new flims which is to be released this year. One is named A Map of The World directed by Scott Elliott adapted from Jane Hamilton's novel with Siggy playing the part of Alice Goodwin. Another movie is named Company Man directed by Peter Askin and Douglas McGrath and the role of Siggy is not confirmed yet but it is for certain that she is acting in it. More info could be found at imdb, Sigourney's spot is right Here. Thank you Celia! :)

I apologize if the HTML is screwed today, I can't check it with this 'pooter. :)

Boldguy has some great SPOOF news! On Saturday at 11.35 pm here in the UK on the satelite TV channel, UK Gold, they're showing the French and Saunders Aliens spoof! Don't miss out on this one, 'cause it is LONG and it is GOOD. :)

I was planning to have some news yesterday, but instead I fell asleep for 10 hours. :) So I'll make another attempt tonight. :)

For those of you who missed it, Bill Paxton hosted Saturday Night Live on ...well, saturday night. There was no ALIEN reference, but there was a definite James Cameron influence...they had a good spoof of Titanic, that showed an 'alternate ending' which involved the crew of the salvage ship (Bill Paxton & gang) beating up the old Rose because she wouldn't tell them where the diamond was. After, James Cameron came on and said that this was the alternate ending, and proceeded to light a cigar with a 100 dollar bill. :) Also, a 'terminator' made a quick appearance on the screen during a spoof of MSNBC I think. :)

BP's ALIEN Site has got some great additions / pictures / interviews...make sure to pay it a well deserved visit!

Okay, here is a small update:
David Fincher's upcoming movie is 'The Fight Club', starring Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter. (Fincher did ALIEN 3, in case you didn't know, as well as 'The Game' and 'Seven.' Pics from the new movie can be found at Dark Horizons.

The adds for the upcoming movie 'Virus' not only mention that the producer is the same one for ALIENS, but it has the music to ALIENS as well. :)

ITV (in the UK) Played the 'good' ALIEN trilogy last weekend, which also included the special edition of ALIENS! :) Thanks to Mike for the update.

New ALIEN series References, from 'Worms' (pc game), '9 months' (movie), 'Starcraft', and 'Deep Rising.' Big thanks to Dimitri! Also coming is a pic of a few references, when I update the picture pages next....please stay tuned. (Thanks Dimitri!)

Another short Story has been added, entitled 'The Shaft' and is by Brian Keffer. It (along with many others) can be found in the Fan Fiction section. :)

A new ALIEN Site has opened, it is ALIENS NL and is a dutch based fan site run by Peter. Check it out! (BTW, its all in Dutch. :)

Many of you may have noticed a lack of daily updates recently...well, I'm on vacation! On monday I start work/school full time so I'll be on the 'pooter more... Remember, the outdoors is *good.* Go play in the snow. :)
Another reason is that the ALIEN series is in a SLOW period of news. The movie (number five) is basically NOT going to happen...for several years. So take a deep breath and remember there are tonnes of ALIENS comics, upcoming games, and related people stories everywhere....just take a look. :)

Remember to vote for this page at Worldcharts! The page has slipped a few notches so I need your help to keep it up top. :)

New ALIEN References, from Hicks, St Just, and Scott E., from the comic 'Dilbert', and the movie 'The Faculty.' Thanks! :)

The adds for the upcoming movie VIRUS are described as being 'from the producer of ALIENS and TERMINATOR 2'....This person being Gale Anne Hurd. This advertising gimmick was also used in Hurd's movies Switchback, The Relic, and another one I think. She is also another ex-wife of James Cameron. The others (I think) are Linda Hamilton and Kathryn Bigelow (the director.) And hey, since we are on trivia, Kathryn also directed a music video for New Order 'Touched by the Hand of God' which starred Bill Paxton. Bill Paxton was also in a video directed by James Cameron, for his own band 'Martini Ranch' in the mid 80's. And gee, if you never visited this page, you would never know that fact. :)

And from Hicks: (Som'more ALIEN related trivia) John Hurt (aka Kane in "ALIEN") has a lesser known role in "The Black Cauldron" (the last of the films before Disney got soft) he was the voice of the lead villain The Horned King. Also in the same 'voiceover character' vein he was Aragorn in Ralph Bakshi's "Lord Of The Rings." John Hurt is also starring in the upcoming movie Lost Souls, which also stars Winona Ryder (Call in ALIEN 4.)

I should be able to add even more goodies today or tomorrow, like an ALIENS article if I can finish it. :)
