Visiting the ALIEN Vs PREDATOR set...
A quick note: Make sure to go to the following sites that have interviews and articles on the ALIEN vs PREDATOR movie (including a really nice breakdown of the movie and cast listings, both sites have (and will have) interviews with the director Paul Anderson...:

      IGN Filmforce
      JoBlo

      Check 'em out. Great reading.

      Christmas Alien!

      Hark the Harold Alien sings...

And finally, I have some quick thoughts on the ALIEN 3 Quadrilogy DVD. I watched the 'special edition' version and I am quite impressed; the picture quality is excellent and the extra scenes are finally available to any fan. However, this version *does not* include all of the footage that is on the Alien 3 'pre-release' version. In my opinion, the 'pre-release' version is much closer to what director David Fincher envisioned for the film, and the 'special edition' version is just an assembly of footage that was collected prior to the pre-release bootleg. I am surprised that not all of the possible footage was used. However, this is a minor gripe, and the film itself is fantastic. I will construct a full list of differences in due time.

      Updating...
This update thing is taking longer than usual. :) Here is a partial update. And if you sent me an email within the last few weeks, I'm responding to them now! ;) Thank you for visiting :)

      New MTV "UnderGRADS" reference!
Take a look at all the Alien References, including a recent submission from Deren, that he noticed from MTV's UnderGRADS tv show. Thanks Deren for the submission!

      GERMAN alien website!
The German Alien Website, has undergone a nice update, including many pics from the Alien Quadrilogy DVD release.... all scanned in for your viewing enjoyment. Give the site a visit! :)

      Tomb Raider Reference!
If you watch the DVD movie of Tomb Raider 2 : The Cradle of Life, there is some familier Alien music. There is an extra of an 'alternate ending.' That ending is temp-tracked with music from ALIEN 3, by Elliot Goldenthal. (the movie though, is really corny and really a leave-the-brain-at-the-door type of film.)

      cover ALIEN QUADRILOGY is Released!
I picked up my dvd set. I watched about 10 min worth of Alien 3, and the cut material is in excellent picture quality...fantastic! :) I realize I said I'd update today...but that will be delayed until tomorrow. I'm too busy watching the box set. :-)

    November 29, 2003
      Everyone loves updates.
Just a quick note: An update is coming up on December 3rd. That should give me enough time to watch the new DVD set. :)

      Update on the Quadrilogy box
Did you see the pictures for the Quadrilogy Box Set from the previous update? Those are for the region 2 release, for region 1 (North America) things get more complicated:

"...the packaging has to be the most awkward ever devised for a DVD set. All nine discs are housed in a single, foldout box, which, when completely open, measures over five feet from end to end. Now, here's the problem: The whole thing starts fanning out in the middle, so in order to get to disc one, you have to unfold two-and-a-half feet of box. Worse, in order to reach the booklet insert, located in a pocket at the other end, you have to unfold another two-and-a-half feet! That's a nuisance, to say the least. Individual, slim-line double keep cases for each movie and one regular keep case, housed in much the same slipcase they use now, would have been more practical for the user. But perhaps Fox felt it would be too expensive. "

Thanks to Xander for passing this info along. For the FULL Review of the Quadrilogy set take a visit to DVD Town.

        ALIEN Quadrilogy DVD info!
Plenty of info coming in on the DVD series. The details (including everything that is on the DVD's) can be found by going to the dvd area! The highlights:
          - ALIEN 3 pre-release version! (see below for more)
          - ALIEN Resurrection "Extended Cut" (with Alternate Opening and Ending Sequences)
          - Complete Laser Disc Archive of Alien and Aliens

A huge thanks goes to DVD Answers for collecting the info so neatly. :) And here is some comments on ALIEN 3:

Fincher was approached with the idea of returning to create a true director's cut, but he unfortunately declined to participate in the project. He did, however, give his blessing to what was ultimately done instead. Using the original shooting script, the existing workprint, [...] DVD producer[s] have created what could be accurately called a "restored workprint version" or an "assembly cut." This is basically the version of the film we've all heard rumors of for years. It includes all of the footage that was in Fincher's original rough edit - all of the studio-excised scenes and subplots. Additionally, numerous special effects shots have been completed where necessary (using modern CGI techniques) to create a 'finished' looking film, again using storyboards and other production reference materials to determine what the filmmakers originally intended.

This is from the extremely detailed Digital Bits' ALIEN QUADRILOGY review. It is a great read; this small excerpt does not do the review justice. The review is *huge* and in depth.

        ALIEN - The Directors Cut
On October 31st, across North America, ALIEN - The Director's Cut opens in theatres. What more can I say....go see it! It opened in limited run Wednesday, and on Friday will expand to about 350 theatres, and is expected to take in about 1 million dollars. Xander passed along some *excellent* pictures for the movie from the British Newspaper "The Sun". To see a HUGE scan of the advert, just click on the image to the right. And as Xander points out: BBFC has rated the film "15" (similar to a PG-13 film in North America), from an 18 (a R rating.) The violence is more tame now than in '79.

Also, take a look at the lower right corner

The first look at Aliens Vs Predator will be before this film...excellent! A quick report on the trailer (rumor): "very Stargate opening like, swooping close-ups of the alien head and the predator mask. Then a shot of a ship dropping a pod to earth, very cool". [Note: I've lost the original source of this, I beleive it may have been from Dark Horizons.]

        Ridley on ALIEN 5
Xander also found this small news bit in the "Bizarre" section of the same newspaper:
FILM director RIDLEY SCOTT is thinking about making a fifth Alien movie so SIGOURNEY WEAVER’s character Ellen Ripley can be killed off. The actress told him she would like to make a "clean exit" in a final film of the series. Ridley says: "I need a good story first of all."

        [Mad props to Xander!]

        ALIEN Vs PREDATOR script review
Ain't It Cool News appears to have a script review of the upcoming Aliens Vs Predator film. To read the review, just click here.

        ALIEN Vs PREDATOR script review
Dark Horizons had a quick bit on ALIENS vs PREDATOR casting: "Sanaa Lathan ("Out of Time") will play explorer-adventuress Lex Kline who leads an expedition to Antarctica to uncover warring alien races. Shooting begins next week in Prague..."

        Jason Statham....quick bit
I'm posting this bit of news because I think Jason Statham is cool...and I liked the movie "The Transporter" (Very underrated...a nice little action flick.) He was mentioning directors he would like to work with:
Question: Other than the Coen Brothers, who are on your list of dream directors?
Answer:Jason: I like David Fincher. I thought he made a great movie with the pirates, Gore Verbinski. I thought that was hilarious with Johnny Depp. I've got a big long list of directors. Michael Mann, I think he's tremendous. Oliver Stone. There'll all cool directors. Scorsese - please!
Cheers to Jason and to the upcoming "Transporter 2"! :)

        ALIEN Vs PREDATOR....more news
All posted from Dark Horizons. Since it was posted a week or so ago I think it is ok to post:
At "Ghetto Con", (The Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention), a 5-minute pre-production presentation on Alien Vs. Predator was shown. 'Agent G' has the details:
"They mentioned that 'not a frame of film has been shot yet', but shooting starts next week in Prague. They also mentioned that this tape played at their con last month, so it's possible that you know about this presentation already, but I hadn't heard much about it so far, so I figured no one would mind if I provided a quick recap of what was shown. The whole piece was narrated by director Paul WS Anderson ("Resident Evil").

As far as the story, we are told that in the past, the Predators used the the Aliens for hunting purposes, as a right of passage for the young Predator to become men (er, for lack of a better term). We see one such battle play out in an Aztec temple. Supposedly, the Predators were seen as Gods to the Aztec people, who built them their temples for worshipping and battle purposes. They showed some storyboards of one Predator defeating an Alien, holding its severed head in victory, as well as some boards where three Predator are overrun by thousands of Aliens, and upon realizing that they have clearly lost the battle, they activate their self-destruct. This is why so many ancient civilizations have been wiped out; Predator hunting failures. Flash forward to present day, where a group of scientists have found one of the ancient Predator temples under an Antarctic icecap. The story revolves around 5 "teenage" Predators who are set to undergo their right of passage with the Aliens at this newly discovered temple, with the humans caught in the middle. There was also some brief discussion about the Predators testing out their new weapons technology. The video showed one example, a modified shuriken throwing star which starts as a small handle with a trigger and expands into 6 elongated razor blades. This was actually pretty cool looking. Anyways, that pretty much rounded out the presentation. They quickly flashed some shots edited together from the two respective franchises, and rounded it out with a tagline, "Whoever wins...we lose." All in all, hard to tell too much about the final product from the small amount shown". Thanks to 'Agent G'.

        Timeline might be down...
The ALIEN Timeline might be down...so the link on my main page has been switched off as well. I can't seem to find the new website address. If It non longer exists I'll use my backup copy as the 'new' timeline site. I'm sure it has just moved to a new home on the web...that site is too good to lose.

For Alien vs. Predator, Amalgamated Dynamics will design and perform the animatronic versions of the 'Alien' and 'Predator' creatures, as well as makeup and other on-set effects for the film.

        Ridley Scott's Next Flick:
ALIEN is coming back to theatres, and Ridley will also provide filmgoers with a brand new movie in the future. IGN filmforce has a few quotes from Ridley...
Ridley Scott confirmed at a recent "Matchstick Men" press conference that "I'm doing Crusades next....I've been on this idea of The Crusades for almost twenty years, you know. So I've been developing it for the last nineteen months, really, with another writer. I've been through two evolutions before. Never got there because I felt the subject has to be dealt in such a delicate fashion....It's one giant misunderstanding".
Scott will also reteam with Russell Crowe for "Tripoli", which is currently on hold.

        "Official" ALIEN website

        Ridley Scott Talks Alien re-release
As posted online in the September 25, 2003 edition of the U-San Bernadino County Sun Website. [Special thanks to Dark Horizons for posting this]
Ridley Scott Speaks of Alien Rerelease
Alien director Ridley Scott has sat down for a long interview with the newspaper the U-San Bernadino County Sun, among the topics are Gladiator 2, Crusades and of course Alien: The Director's Cut:
Q: 'Alien: The Director's Cut' returns to theaters on Halloween. Does this mean the original wasn't your cut?
A: I've never had anything other than the director's cut in any of my movies. The only pressure I've ever had was "Blade Runner,' where they wanted me to explain the unexplained, which is why we suddenly ended up with voice-over, which I always thought was unnecessary.
Q: Have you added anything to the movie?
A: I added 4 1/2 minutes of unseen material. There's more stuff at the alien's nest; you see where the crew members disappear to and you see their demise more vividly spelled out. Mainly though, it's an opportunity to reconfigure the negative digitally and get the bloody thing looking like it should for new generations that haven't seen it properly, i.e. on the big screen..

Ridley Scott Ridley comments on Alien 5
The dvdrama has a good interview with Ridley Scott, included was some Alien 5 comments: [Note, original interview was in French, the english quotation posted on Dark Horizons is accurate. Merci.]
Alien 5: Some more storyline potential ideas from the man himself Ridley Scott in an interview with DVD Rama and disappointment for those hoping for a fast answer - " Fox and Sigourney Weaver have contacted me, they want to conclude this series with the one who has begun it. [...] But there are not even serious talks. I don't really know what I could do unless I go back to the questions stated in the first episode. Where does the crashed ship on the planet with this mysterious extra-terrestrial come from ? We could wonder wether massive destruction weapons (which could threaten the Earth) had been used or not. I could be inspired by THE WAR OF THE WORLDS"

        Cameron & Weaver seen together
As posted on AlienExperience.com, James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver were photographed together in People magazine a caption (dated September 12, 2003) stating: AP photographers snapped this portrait of James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver outside Hollywood's elite Calabash Bar & Grill. Eyewitnesses claim the two were discussing a screenplay draft of Alien 5, rumored to be Cameron's next sci-fi epic. Huge thanks to AlienExperience.com.

        Cameron speaks...
James Cameron spoke with BBC1 about Alien 3 and T3...and Alien 5! The summary:
Terminator 3 - "In one word : Great. There was a small part of me that hoped it wasn't good - but another part of me hope'd it succeeded. And it did. And I'm so glad it did. Jonathon's made a great movie. Arnold's in great form. I really like what he's done with it". If he had done it, would he have handled it differently: "Yes. That's only natural. I mightn't have structrued it the same, nor may I have ended it the same way - but coming in where he has, such a hard thing to do, and I give Jonathan points for it".
Alien 3 - "Hated it. Simple as that. I hated what they did.... I couldn't stand Alien 3 - how they could just go in there and kill off all these great characters we introduced in aliens, and the correlation between mother and daughter. It stunk, but hopefully I'll get a chance to rectify all that".
You mean the talk about him being tied to "Alien 5" is true? "To an extent. yes. We're looking at doing another one. Something similiar to what we did with Aliens. A bunch of great characters, and of course Sigourney. I've even discussed the possibility of putting him [Arnold Schwarzenegger] into the Alien movie". Thanks to 'Ryan'. Did you ever notice...
        Sent from Thomas:

[I noticed an] oddity in the Alien 3 DVD. If you watch the "Making of Alien 3 featurette" in the extra features, several minutes into the featurette we see Sigourney Weaver talking, and while she is doing this it cuts to the scene in the beginning of Alien 3 where we see the bodies of Bishop and Newt after their names are displayed on the computer console showing their status. If you watch Newt closely, right before the scene switches, her body suddenly for the last 2 seconds begins to rise from the cryopod in a zombie-fashion. There is also a shadow moving around the cryopod bottom at the same time.

I assuming that this scene is not from the movie, but a display of the cryotube and prosthetic Newt. Or it could just show how the Newt prosthetic was meant to move in a scene that was cut from the movie....any other thoughts out there?

        Quadrilogy DVD content listing?
This sounds like a cumulative list of all the rumors of what will be on the upcoming DVD release, but considering I have not posted any rumours on it, it is nice to have it all summarized. With that said, DVDboxoffice.com has a mini-feature on the Alien Quadrilogy DVD release, including contents and an actual release date. The release date is December 1 2003, however this is unlikely as it is not a Tuesday, and the vast majority of releases are issued tuesday (why, I don't know.) I've made some comments at the end, and take this info with a huge grain of salt until officially announced. The summary:

The Ultimate All-New Alien Boxset, loaded with hours of never before seen extras!
Aliens: will allow viewers to choose between the Theatrical version, which has never been available on DVD before, and James Cameron's Director’s cut
[Nathan's note: This is probably the Special Edition]
Alien 3: Will include David Fincher’s 2 hr. 50 min original version of the movie, which has never been released.
          [Nathan's Note: (see below)]
Alien Resurrection: will feature an alternate opening and ending (crash on Earth).
And for the 9th bonus disc, which will include over 3 hours of material: Alien Legacy ( Was a free mail-in offer), Alien Evolution (BBC Documentary), Darkhorse Alien Comics, Darkhorse Alien vs. Predator, Complete Laser Disc features, so can throw away laser discs and have everything imaginable in this boxset.

However, I don't think there ever was a 2 hr 50 minute Alien 3. If one takes into consideration the cut material, and re-inserts it back into the film (Oxen scene, superfacehugger), then those scenes won't fit into the finished continuity of the film. For example, the dog replaced the Oxen. Maybe a cut around 2 hours 20 minutes would be more realistic. Thanks to Stephen for sending the link my way!

        Hidden Image - solved (!)
I just received some info from Adam, regarding the "Hidden" image (ALIENS DVD, just after Burke says "You know we manufacture those by the way" when they are about to land on LV-426, there appears to be a screen flicker for a millisecond. It is at the 44:57 mark on the DVD.) He reports:

I just wanted to say the image you are talking about was featured in a magazine 6years ago, the magazine was a british film mag called Film Frenzy. It had a bloopers section each month and it was featured then. The image is a reflection of the film crew. The flicker you see is a video loop of the colony and the crew had a camera infront of a screen filming the sequence as if everyone was looking at a screen in the APC, but there was a fault on the tape and made it flicker and so the refection of the film crew can be seen.

Thanks to Adam! [for a big version of that screen flicker, just click on the small pic above.]

Ripley, the Alien make AFI list
On June 3rd AFI had a top 50 Heroes/50 Villains countdown was on CBS USA. The Alien monster from "ALIEN" came in at #11 for the villan, and Ellen Ripley in "ALIENS" came in at #8 for the Heroes list. I have made sort of an 'archive' of these lists where the ALIEN movies rank, it is all in the history area.

        David Fincher's Next
I don't know the origin of this news, but it is great news:

David Fincher - Fanboy Fave: Empire Online reports that Brad Pitt will reteam with his Fight Club director David Fincher on They Fought Alone, from screenwriter William Nicholson. They Fought Alone tells the story of one Wendell Fertig, an American soldier who fought in the Philippines during World War II. After American soldiers are ordered to surrender, Fertig and his men team up with Filipino resistance fighters to prevent the Japanese from taking full control of the region. When Fertig gets a message out about his guerilla actions, the American army is divided between wanting to get behind the rogue team and disowning Fertig for having ignored military orders. The part was previously considered by Pitt's fellow A-lister Tom Cruise.

It looks like Fincher passed up a movie to direct; Himself, Cameron Crowe and Lasse Hallström were asked to direct 'Catch Me If You Can' but turned it down, before Steven Spielberg took over (he only wanted to produce).

Old tidbit on a Aliens Vs Predator DVDs (no joke!)
Well, while not *directly* related to the actual production of the Alien vs Predator DVDs, here is a clip from an older interview with Van Ling, DVD producer. This is from the Digitalbits.com.

[JohnnyB] Nice of you to be here, how exactly do you decide to become a dvd producer? DId you work in the film industry beforehand? Is there a dvd producing college :)? how exactly did you get into this job. And do you know anything about predator or the alien movie getting new special edition treatments (Peter Staddon hinted at them)
[VanLing] School of hard knocks, baby! ;-) I kind of fell into DVD producing from LD producing... and my main background is in film production, so I've worked in the film biz for like 15 years. That, I think, is one of the things I try to bring to the DVDs I produce. As for Predator and the Alien films, I think Peter Staddon has a much better handle on their plans than I... but feel free to tell Peter I'd love to do the Aliens and Predator DVDs! ;-)

        Alien/Aliens Re-Release in theatres:
        As reported on Filmjerk on May 27;

The announcement last month that Fox would be re-releasing Ridley Scott's 1979 classic "Alien" into theaters on Halloween was met with wild enthusiasm by fans of the movie, with the most often asked question being, "Will the film include any restored scenes?"
FilmJerk.com has learned, through contacts within Fox Films, that the film will be getting most, if not all, of the cut footage restored back into the narrative. Final details are still being worked out, but our source tells us the film's soundtrack will also be remastered to take advantage of today's digital cinema sound formats, and will be positioned as a major fall release, to play on over 2,000 screens.
Our source also tells us that, should this rerelease become successful, like the "Star Wars" trilogy and "Exorcist" rereleases, tentative plans have already been set to release James Cameron's restored cut of "Aliens" into theatres next spring.

I've had the good fortune to see both these movies in the theatres, but fully restored and in fully extended editionsn will be a treat. (Oddly enough, the only ALIEN movie I have not seen in theatres is Alien 3....maybe someday...)

        Weaver comments on ALIEN 5
The Chicago Sun Times From April 22:

Sigourney Weaver talked with The Chicago Sun Times Cindy Pearlman during promotional junkets for the film "Holes": "Ridley Scott and I have talked about it a couple of times. He has some ideas. If we developed a good script, I'd love to play Ripley again. I've always felt so grateful to Ridley Scott because he gave me my first job...The only thing I'm not interested in is going to earth. I saw that 'Star Trek' movie where they went to Earth and ... yawn. I think it's more fun to go to a foreign planet--especially now. Who wants to come to Earth now? Let's go far, far away! Fantasy is what we need!".

This is just a segment, the FULL Alien related parts can be found archived in the Alien 5 (the Facts and Quotes) area.

        James Cameron on ALIEN 5
The Houston Chronicle (Note: URL no longer works) From April 11:

All right, so James Cameron delivered the textbook case for creating a sequel that can stand on its own without merely copycatting the original (Aliens).
"He's always been a futurist," said Bill Paxton, a co-star in Titanic and other Cameron movies, who went along on the director's 2001 ocean dives and narrates Ghosts of the Abyss. "Jim's the kind of guy who thinks in terms of goals that won't be realized in his own lifetime. ...
"He's heralding the new technology, he's actually taking the time to bring these things on. He's more in the tradition to me of a Thomas Edison or an Alexander Bell." For the next few years, Cameron plans to focus on feature films. He will not disclose the plot or genre of the 3-D film that he hopes to start next December or January. Minus Cameron as writer and director, Schwarzenegger stars in the upcoming Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. The movie was directed by Jonathan Mostow, assuming the role of upstart director taking over someone else's franchise, which Cameron did when he directed 1986's Aliens.
Alien director Ridley Scott initially was not amused, Cameron said. The two subsequently have talked about doing an Alien film together, with Cameron writing and producing and Scott directing, Cameron said.
David Fincher's Alien 3 -- which killed off characters Cameron created, essentially negating the outcome of Aliens -- has braced Cameron for anything that Terminator 3 might deliver.
"I'm like so over that by now. You can't hold on to that stuff," Cameron said. "There's nothing they can do to me on Terminator 3 that's going to be as outrageous as that."
          ".

This is just a VERY small segment of the article. The full thing can be found in the Alien 5 (the Facts and Quotes) area.

        More Cameron....more comments....(good ones!)
From the April 9, 2003 edition of the Edmonton Sun:

He also has high hopes of eventually returning to the Alien franchise as long as he can get the go-ahead to make a truly scary (and likely R-rated) film.
The 1979 original Alien, directed by Ridley Scott, " holds a special classic niche as one of the great terrifying experiences," Cameron said. " And the trick (to making a new Alien film) is you don't go crazy and make a $150-million movie because you don't want to have to compromise, you don't want to try to do a PG-13 Alien that is all things to everyone."
An Alien flick, Cameron said, ought to put the psychology back into psychological horror.
" It's got to still maintain its roots in this kind of cinematic id. Ridley did it really beautifully. He just kind of put you into this Freudian nightmare space."

        Ideas for Alien 5 & 6
P.A.R.G. whipped together a 'paste and stick' collaboration of all the alien crazed fna who have posted ideas around the net about what the 5th and 6th Alien installment should be like:
Alien 5 Plot: “The new LV-426 terraforming project has been successful. A colonist Geo gets a distorted transmition sourced from the north horizon & goes to investigate. He finds 2 giant alien spaceships in process of some type of excavation. The ships blast off before the Geo gets too close. He enters the excavation site & into the original 'navigators' ship. He comes to a large empty chamber with one solitary item in the middle of it. As he approaches it takes the shape of an egg..... The 5th Alien installment takes place on Earth. Earth is under attack by alien warrior drop ships (the race first seen as the dead navigator aboard the derelict alien ship in the original Alien movie). Their method of attack: planting Alien eggs around the human habitats! The Aliens create havoc as their numbers increase. Ripley wakes by the sounds of screaming. She is in a cell & a guard is fumbling, trying to get the door open. She will soon realize that her nightmare has taken over her home planet. The evacuation begins. This will lead to the final battle sequence aboard the Navigators ship where Ripley will discover the navigator is a fierce creature who’s main objective is to wipe out all intelligent life infesting the universe.”
Alien 6 Plot: May takes place on the navigator’s home planet. They are the evil genetic creators of the alien race & must be stopped before they infest other planets/galaxies with the alien menace. The Alien wars are just beginning.”

Great fan base out there! Thanks P.A.R.G.

        More updates on the way!
Yes, I do plan to update the site more in the upcoming days. Sorry for the delay, and thanks for visiting!

        ALIEN vs Predator Movie News
A new addition to the Alien vs Predator movie news. Here is an exceprt from an interview with Producer John Davis, from the April 28 2003 Calgary Sun, by Louis B. Hobson:

          Monster Mash
Davis has lured director Paul S. Anderson away from the sequel to his 2002 hit Resident Evil.
Anderson wrote the sequel to Resident Evil Nemesis and had planned to direct it in Toronto in August but has turned the reins over to Alexander Witt, who was a second unit director on the first film.
“Paul has agreed to work for me on my Alien vs Predator Project, which I hope to put into production either this fall or early in 2004,” says Davis.
“We’re working on the technology now for the two creatures. I purchased the rights to the Alien creature several years ago and I produced the two Predator movies, so I own that creature.
“Before we can even think about casting, we have to work out a budget because Alien vs Predator will be a very big CGI special effects movie.”
Resident Evil Nemesis is scheduled to open in 2004, and Anderson’s girlfriend Milla Jovovich will reprise her role as Alice. Erick Mabius returns from the first film, but this time he’s talking Jovovich. Fans may have to wait until 2005 for Alien vs Predator.

The ALIEN 5 info will have to wait for a day...

        New Alien References
A brand new Alien reference, courtesy of DeepERStar6. Click here to see the big list, and to summarize the latest contribution: In the XBOX game HALO, at the beginning of Level 3, you hear what sounds like Apone's line in Alien "C'mon people. The corp ain't payin' us by the hour."
Another reference comes to us from Starflare: In the cartoon Johnny Bravo, Johnny is mistaken for the ship's captain and causes havoc, when the real captain returns Johnny says something like "Well what you gonna do, throw me on a planet with a huge terrifying Alien or something?" Now, normally that would not be a reference, but at the end of the show it displays Johnny dangling from some webbing and a polkadotted egg is in front of him. The egg opens up via Alien style and the legs of a chestburster start coming out of it Johnny says "down doggie, good doggie" (or something like that...) and if Starflare's memory serves him right, as the scene blacks out you can hear an Alien roar or shriek.

        Hidden ALIENS image?
Okay, on the ALIENS DVD, just after Burke says "You know we manufacture those by the way" when they are about to land on LV-426, there appears to be a screen flicker for a millisecond. It is at the 44:57 mark on the DVD. there appears to be a hidden image within that screen flicker. I can't make it out, and neither can Mark, who sent the tip on the image. Can anyone out there figure it out? Please email me if you have any ideas.

Dillon's second sermon Alien 3 cut scene...
I was able to find a very small picture of a cut scenen in ALIEN 3. It is of Dillon giving his second sermon to the prisoners after a few were killed during the capture of the ALIEN (If you don't remember that part in ALIEN 3, then read the entire cut scenes section to get the full info on the scenes that were chopped.) It originated from a German Lobby Still for the movie, if I recall. Click Here to view the cut scenes area.

        April Fools!
Happy April Fools day. Of course, the info posted on yesterday's update (April 1st) is all made up, marlarky, baloney, bull, and not true. I hope some of you read it in shock...but with a smile. Although, I would like to see an ALIEN animated series...

        Alien Quadrilogy Shelved
Alas! It appears that the Alien Quadrilogy DVD series is too good to be true. I has been cancelled due to lack of interest in the retail market (as the ALIEN Legacy series was released just 3 years ago), and the proposed Alien 3 'Special Edition' was unobtainable due to damage on the original prints. I had high hopes for the series. For more info, just click here.

Alien Cartoon series in the works!
Good news did come in today, as a solid source indicates that while ALIEN 5 is currently on the back burner, that a new ALIEN cartoon series is in the developmental stages! Although none of the major cast will contribute voices, it will take place in the dark horse era timeline, after ALIENS with Ripley et al on Earth and in Space battling the xenomorphs. One confirmed voice is that of Paul Reubens (Yes, THAT Paul Reubens) as a lead Marine....I guess the series it is loosley based on the ALIENS graphic novels? More info, and hopefully some character sketches tomorrow.

        More Alien Quadrilogy DVD stuff...
Alienscollection.com noticed that over at Bob Burns's very fun and official website was a news update that included a mention of the upcoming ALIEN DVD series. He has " [...] never seen so much new stuff that they found on all four of the films!" Excellent news! Make sure to go to Bob's website for the rest.

        Bug-Stompers! My very own Bug-Stompers!
Thanks again to Alienscollection.com and Fiorina 161; It looks like you can own your very own pair of ALIENS Bug-stomper shoes...yes, the pair that Ripley wore in Aliens! And in 3 different color variations! Can anyone who speaks Japanese email me and tell me what is on the page? If I can read the numbers correctly, it looks like they will retail for 15,000 YEN, which is about $182.93 CDN, or around $128.05 US. Of course, that is assuming they are for going for 15,000 YEN. It appears a date of March 20, 2003 is listed on the page as well...maybe a release date?

Very cool! I knew ALIENS fashion was the wave of the future! :-)

      March 14, 2003
        Alien 5 'talks' confirmed...
Cinema Confidential had a small bit of info clip regarding Alien 5, and that Sigourney Weaver has confirmed that while discussions are on, nothing is planned for the near future:
Lisa: There are talks about a possible Alien 5 film, can you tell me about that?
Sigourney Weaver: I know that Ridley Scott and I’ve talked a couple of times because people are always coming up to me and saying “What about Alien 5?” In the current atmosphere where there is so much going on on earth, I can understand people wanting to see an adventure that’s far away and so I, myself, would love to go and see something happening on another planet. You know, out by Mars or something. But we don’t have any definite plans.

        DVD page updated...
I've updated the 'DVD' section to be split into the 2 different DVD releases for the Alien series; the 1999 Alien Legacy and the 2003 Alien Quadrilogy. Any new information posted about the Alien Quadrilogy set will be posted there. Click Here for the new page. :)

        9 DISC DVD SET!
The possibility was there months ago...and now it is confirmed! Fox will be releasing a 9 disc ALIEN series dvd set! It is entitled 'ALIEN Quadrilogy' which will of course include discs for the 4 movies, and presumably a full disk 'making of' special (as was included in the previous DVD box set), and mabye....just maybe the Alien 3 pre-release version. With the official announcement, more facts will be sure to come in. Thanks to alienscollection.com and R2 Project for the scoop (go to R2 Project to see a picture of the advertisement for the box set.) Hooray!

I forgot one thing: Thanks to Peter and Wayne for passing on the info also. :)
